The boys are on fire they just have to keep it going.:eek:nfire:
Not predicting big things but some changes of equipment has seem some very "eye catching" results. ;)

Gee it's great to see all of the posts for 2006 Country Cup, but don't forget us old timers we bowl next Sat/Sun at Ballarat and are looking forward to it.
It might not have the same prestige as Country Cup but bye geeez we have great time.
Freddo,
I think you are selling yourself a bit short. I know for a fact that there is a lot of interest in Senior Shield. Whilst it is true that a lot more people are posting stuff on the Country Cup thread that does not mean people are not into SS. Maybe it has something to do with age. A lot more people under 45 are comfortable playing around with computers and the internet than over 45's. I also know that a lot of the Colac oldies read what is posted on here, but don't post stuff themselves. Our bowlers love Senior Shield - as does everyone that competes. Good luck on the weekend
Go Colac!

It would have been nice if somebody had a go at the ladies teams' odds. Liz
I can have a go at it for you - but with only 3-4 teams posted it will be an edumacated guess rather than an accurate assessment.

Okay - here goes (please don't take this personally - it is meant to be a bit of fun only!)

Ladies odds....

Shepparton - EVENS
Last years winners are my favourite to win this year. Hard to go past a team with Denece Jones, Jan Greene and Marilyn Behncke in it.

Warrnambool – 2/1
Top 3 place the past two years and assuming Trish Beasley, Elaine Gordon and Sue Hall are in team, I will pick them to be top 3 again – possibly even first.

Latrobe Valley – 5/1
Consistent team over the past few years. Team has been strengthened this year with inclusion of Anne Brandon and Wendy Motta and should go close. Woza may have a better idea about their chances than I do.

Geelong – 5/1
No idea who is in the team, but any Geelong team bowling on Ballarat conditions should be rated a chance.

Sunraysia – 7/1
Very consistent the past three years, with two fourths and a fifth.

Colac – 10/1
Winners two years ago and should finish in the top half this year

Bendigo – 10/1
Finished 2nd last year after a couple of 6th placings before that. Depending on who is in team they could again be right up there.

Ballarat – 15/1
Home team has finished in the bottom half the last couple of years. I expect them to be better at home.

Albury – 25/1
Second in 2002, but have finished near the bottom the past couple of years. Could easily improve – depending on who is bowling?

Sale – 50/1
Probably not likely to win after being on the bottom the last two years, but with a couple of new faces they would be expecting to move up the standings this year.

Ovens & Murray – 100/1
Bottom three for the past three years and hard to see them threatening the leaders this year

Once again, I have done these odds just for a bit of fun, without knowing most of the team members competing, and because a couple of people asked for them. I confess that I don’t know the teams very well and I am basing a lot of these odds on past years. If anybody knows some of the team members for the teams not posted put them on and I will redo the odds. (I have teams for Shep, LV, Sale and Colac). If you feel I have hardly assessed your team’s chances, let me know why.
Good luck to all teams bowling – see you there on the Saturday at some time (I will be the guy wearing the sunglasses hoping not to get recognized esp. by the teams that I have put at long odds!)

Good job Freddo!

I am amazed i have not had a heap of irate comments on my odds - i know people have been reading them... surely someone agrees or disagrees?

Thanks for the odds on the ladies Gatsby.

Here goes my comments:

I have to agree that the Shepparton ladies look like the ones with the goods but as stated, we are working with a lot of unknown factors.

I know that Sale is anybodies guess as it is not the usual team. We have 2 ladies who have bowled every year for the last few. There is also 2 ladies that have bowled both SS & CC many years ago and decided to relive some old memories. Then there is myself - the baby of the team. I guess we will wait and see as to how we bond.

I think LV will be the noisy team - who hasn't heard Cindy at one venue or another !!!

4 MORE SLEEPS !!!!!!!

hi guys I don't know much about Senior Shield so I am only assuming that it is like dunn Shield??

Where is the tournament going to be held??

Chaz :p

Senior Shield is being held this weekend Sat 12th and Sun 13th at Ballarat.
It is for over 45's (hence the title Senior) and 11 teams from Country Victoria compete over 1 full round (11 games). Each game has 4 bowlers playing head to head for 4 points plus two points for the overall (total of 6 per game)
The Associations are Warrnambool, Colac, Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Shepparton, Latrobe Valley, Sale, Albury, Ovens & Murray & Sunraysia.
Three divisions, Overall, Men's and Women's. This tournament commenced in 1994.

That is the key comment - i formulated some odds because a couple of people asked, but i don't know who is bowling for most of the teams. Basically, i looked at the past 3 years of results and went from there. Have fun and good luck - you might even see me there on the Saturday at some stage (i will be hiding though)

Good luck to all this weekend at Ballarat. Remember to take it easy as you are all getting on. Lol.

I have a feeling that I am going to cop it for my last comment, was meant in fun. Starting to get paranoid now. Lol.

Hey Carmers,

One thing I have noticed - the older we get, the less we take things seriously ;) ;)

Maybe you could post the Geelong team for us huh ? \\:D/ \\:D/

Liz

Hey Gatsby
thanks for that info.
Can't get down to ballarat - but good luck to all and may the best team win.

I am just making the most of the stirring while i can - only 5 more years and i will be joining you...... :( lol

Actually Gatsby my gripe with you is that you haven't posted the Colac ladies team :( :(

In my case, most the people that know me, would pay good money to have me take something seriously for once. Life's too short to moan and complain.......
