Emerson Shield - 2007

yeah well with a combined rev tally of 10, its more like a confidence booster
and easy goes it with the chair ;)
Yep - and 9 of those are Mervs

Colac women are not going to repechage - so i guess that makes it 5 teams left for 4 places.

all teams should have nominated by now. If there is going to be a late inclusion I'd say they would have to let Ray know by the weekend so that Altona can get costs / format / draw out to all centres next week.

As much as i like the idea of the repecharge final, by the low numbers nominating for the final, it would appear that additional costs involved, weekend travel, may be to much on a number of these centres.

With so many teams able to nominate (25 in total) it would appear that if the repecharge was to continue it would always mean another large amount travel for the majority of country centres, as this final would need to be held in a large size centre.

luke i got in touch with that guy he is giving me prices for the shirts tomorrow. did i make the team lol :) to bowl at altona :)

maybe central might have been ballarat or bendigo

maybe mildura needs to host a zone roll off, instead of having queue jumping going on (they were in the competition before horsham was built)

and i personally believe that narre warren should have hosted this year seeing that geelong hosted 2 years ago (whilst on the queue jumping issue)

i still think 4 zones is the answer, i also believe albury, mt gambier and berri should be invited in too, they are close to the border and at the end of the day, like to compete too

with country club being such a select group, it would be great to see someone try and nurture and grow a competition and not keep it small like their minds (yes that was a personal attack at some individuals)

i personally disagree with having the event at a centre who has not competed in the tournament

but hey, thats my opinion, doesn't make it right or wrong

now i can sleep with that off my chest

So how do you see 4 zones working? 2 from each zone and 8 teams in final? or 3 from each zone and 12 in final (which makes it a very long 2 days of bowling).

If the zones are going to change from 3 to 4, or 3 to 2 i would like to see them evened up as well rather than having one strong zone where most of the recent winners have come from (3 of past 4 winners in the men and the past 2 winners in the women) and two weaker zones

I don't have a problem with bringing in more teams every year as long as the basic format is kept the same so that people know year in year out what they are up against.

The centres you named would only come in if they are Goldpin centres because it is a Goldpin run event.

Listed below are the teams nominated for the Emerson Shield repecharge

Geelong women did finish top 2 - I think the list printed out on previous page has Geelong instead of Mentone... according to this forum we have 5 teams in the ladies

Melton
Mentone
Narre Warren
Warrnambool
Bowlarama

who's got the odds on which ladies team will miss out?? :D
my guess is it's going to be a team with either a "N" or "M" in thier name!

Mentone just missed out on being top 2 in the zone so i reckon they will get through. Narre finished 4th in same zone.

The other 3 were all from the western zone and bowlarama was 3rd, Melton 4th W'Bool 5th. On paper they all look pretty even (going on zone results).

I will stick my neck out and say Bowlarama will be the team to miss.

I'll go with

1. Mentone
2. Melton
3. Narre Warren
4. Warrnambool
---------------
5. Bowlarama

i'll agree it does look even on paper but as we all know lots of things can happen on the day. In my opinion everyone probably deserves a place in the final and it will probably come down to the best bowling team on the day that performs as a team with all 7 members making a contribution.

whose got odds on the mens side of things? now we have some idea of the format. For those that don't know it looks like 6 games with a positional round.. yes i know!!! why do we need a positional round i hear you ask.... can't answer that one!!

There is a positiional round for the ladies, but a different method to that of the Eastern Zone. This time 1v6, 2v5, 3v4, much fairer way to do it!

Mens is an 8 team draw using the 7 entrants and 1 BYE.
So 7 matches for the men and NO positional

So what are the odds in the Mens?
Who's favorite to miss out in the mens ?

Melton
Werribee
Geelong
Bendigo
Bowlarama
Ed Fleming
Epping

Either way it looks like a good day for all.

How is it a positional round when you are playing someone that is irrelevent? The only match in that round that is worthwhile is 3v4. To me anyways.
