well done to all teams to have made it through to the final looks like it was a good day of bowling for everyone:)

Simon: nope, the first standing sheet that everyone got was wrong. For some reason it saved the scores as 1v2 3v4 5v6 so every match except ours had the points out by 1.

Congratulations to all the teams who made it through to the Emerson Final. A big thanks to the staff at Oz Tenpin Altona for a smooth day and to all the teams that made the repecharge a nice close enjoyable day.

A little sad to see today is the last time we'll see an Ed Fleming Mens team in action. They put up as much of a fight as they could with only the 6 bowlers. Hopefully your ladies can end the Ed Fleming era with a win in November.

bloody computers, thanks luke shouldnt have doubted you :D see you wednesday. thanks for a great day today and thanks to the epping team for supporting me and boosting my confidence today:) thanks guys

I actually bowled 257 this game Lukey.. how could you forget... Not often i get to beat Tonx.. wait we bowled in the same team. But Tonx did finally get to beat Steve 'The Mouth' Tothie this game for the all important $1 bet.
Congrats go to Werribee on finishing on top today and all the other teams that made it thru, especially Epping!!! Was a good days bowling and look forward to the final in geelong.
Cheers Dillan

Well done to all teams that made it through!

Congrats to the top 4. It came down to the last frame where Hodgey put us out by closing out the last frame to win the overall. Well done.

Looks like we will have to go and support the ladies in the final. They keep telling us they are the better team.

So five of the ten teams competing in the Men's final are from the Western zone -- looks like the repechage achieved what it was put in place for - to get the best 10 teams into the final.

Tothie, I need some advice....

What can one buy with a dollar these days? I should have made it a double bet if your score was beaten by 100 sticks. Then we could have gone down to the 2 dollar shop! ;)

:D

I would be very surprised to hear if this is used next year.

10 teams from a possible 23 nominated in the end (6 mens & 4 womens). Womens teams did not even need to bowl, and 6 teams vying for 4 spots, sound like old zone days when 4 teams fought it out for 2 or even 5 teams for 3.

The real question is did it get the results it was intended for. I think not. A number of teams did not compete due the additional costs, travel, expenses, and the likes.

The teams from the western zone maybe the strongest on paper, and may even be able to score better, but afterall, this event all comes down to head to heads, and overalls, and when that is the determinig factor, anyone can be beaten on the day.

its now off to Geelong for a long weekend of drinking..... oh yeah and bowling for some of you...

Talking about it yesterday at Altona, the more we spoke the more a 2 zone option made sense. The only drawback here is that to run mens & ladies on the same day a centre would need at least 22 lanes (allowing a spare pair incase of major problems) and this would eliminate alot of centres from hosting. If you hosted it over 2 days then you get into the expense issue again. To be honest, I don't think there is going to be an easy solution that everyone is happy with, and I'm glad I'm not the one making the decision for next year!
Seeding won't work as teams vary so much from year to year and just because a team appears weak or stong on paper doesn't mean they will be like that in the event.
Re-structuring the zones won't make a difference as it can only really be done geographicaly and you'll still end up with "stronger" zones.
When you look at where the finalists come from, the zones do look a tad lopsided. But then again, look at the number and type of bowlers these centres draw and you'd expect them to do well.

Regardless of how you got to the final, be it by dominating your zone or by default in the repecharge, congratulations to all teams and see you in November.

I would say that you are probably right Lance - i also doubt if repechage will get used again next year. I was trying to point out why i think it was put in place -- because of the depth of teams in Mens western zone.

I think the only way to go is two zones - one division Saturday and one division Sunday. It means only one weekend away instead of two and if you can't get top 5 in a zone then you are probably not going to win the final.

Congratulations to all teams who bowled yesterday. Seems by the scores it would have been an interesting day.

I'd personally like to thank Henrik Staudinger for filling in for me at the repocharge as I had very important work commitments. I have no doubt the men at Werribee are just as appreciative as I am.

Looking forward to defending our titles (we can't forget those women!!) at Geelong. See you all there!
