Emerson Shield - 2007

i have a supply of tissues, dummies as well as a bucket

always got to be prepared for what you might read on here

North
Mildura, Horsham, Wodonga, Echuca, Shepparton, Bendigo, Epping, Melton, Ballarat (9 teams)
South
Warrnambool, Colac, Geelong and Nth Geelong, Sale, Morwell, Narre Warren, Mentone, Werribee (9 teams)
Altona is in the middle - if no Echuca then they would go into North otherwise probably go into south.
Travel problem actually is worse this way
Worst case scenario Mildura to Mentone - 575kms - but the next biggest trip (other than Mildura) would be Wodonga to Mentone 350kms
For the South - Warrnambool to Sale 479kms, but then Morwell to W'Bool is 415km -- ie lots of kms for everyone in the south
So east / west would probably be slighlty less travel - with the exception of Mildura who cop lots of travel either way.... at least with no repechage they only have to travel once plus a final rather than twice plus a final.

Where do you pull all of this from Gatsby? You moving into distance now? Lol.

I'd say you were not inlcuded in the repechage list because you mistakenly did not appear on the zone results. Attached is the Women's zone results for the West -- with Warrnambool included :D

Exactly Gary.

Sorry about not including you.

I only went off the teams that were listed in each of the results shown for the zone roll offs.

Just over 3 weeks to go.

If both Greensborough and Echuca competed next year (plus Altona) that would make it 20 teams which does even things up. I like the 2 zone idea but not so keen on the 4 zones for reasons mentioned before. Maybe this years format of 3 zones top 2 per zone plus repechage will be a winner and we will stick with that. At least there are lots of options

lets push for the extra 3 centres, and 2 zones next year.

thats 10 per zone, 9 games, can be run in most centres over 2 days or 1 if centre is large

Afterall, it is tradition for emerson to change every year.

:secret: He's doing under cover work and it now appears that he won't be released in time............

I am left here to run the business on my own.

Geelong is missing off your list;)

Why don't we go back to the last few years and have 3 zones, top 3 in and defending champions in automatically.

I think this was changed because some zones were way too easy and other zones were extremely hard to qualify. This menat that some weaker teams made the final while some stronger teams missed out.

With the introduction of the repechage the best 10 teams should get to the final. The big downside is the extra cost (and extra travel -- especially for the Sunraysians.)

Sadly the defending champions rule was only in for 1 year. It was a good idea in theory, but as Gatsby said, 1 zone was very strong, and it did not ensure the strongest state final possible.

everything we post on her about changes to zones / repecharge / state finals is all just idea's. Food for thought for goldpin.

As you have noted Gary it is an extra for us.

We are however trying to work out, if at all possible, to bowl the repegharge. It all depends on the final format for it.

Should know by early next week.

i personally believe 4 teams should go thru, i'm not sure whether this is the case or not
It is definitely 4 teams going through Craig -- it has to be 4 to make the final number 10 teams (in both divisions)
I think Rob means he is waiting to see how many teams nominate for repechage and therefore what format will get used, one round, two rounds, start times and finish times. None of that can be decided until they know how many teams will be turning up.
