What do you call slow? Have you run your car, what times did it get?

running High 13's stock. The best I seen from a modified V8 ford was 13 flat.

The new GTS runs the 1/4 in 13.4, 0-100kph in under 5 seconds. The VZ R8 runs it in 13.7.

You can do so much more with an LS1/2 before going Forced Induction. Tune, Throttle Body, Diff Gears, Cam, Heads, Cold Air, Fuel System good for around 450rwhp and a low 11 sec pass. I'm still saving the money for cam/heads and gears.

Then you start talking Stroker Kits, Turbos and Blowers, from 450rwhp - ??? It just gets insane from there.

No I haven't run my car, I haven't been able to take a night off work to take the car to the drags. With 3.7 diff gears I can run as low as a 12.5 before cam.

I can ramble on some more if you want :D

mate of mine just finished his rx3 $65,000 later took it to willowbank just before christmas was expected to run mid 9

There are quite a few fords faster than what you have seen and with unopened motors.
You do not need head and cam to get into the 11's, there are a few unopened LS1's running 11's, admitingly though most are set up for drag racing, but it can be done without the head a cam change by using the correct choice of parts and tuning.

The fords 5.4 actually makes more power than a 5.7 LS1 with equivalent mods. An unopened LS1 may make up to 260ish RWKW while the Boss (ford) can make up to 280ish RWKW, but the weight of the ford slows then down a bit.
But as I said there are a lot of BA Boss's that than a lot quicker than flat 13's

You can easily get 300rwkw out of an LS1. There are a few in WA that put out 300rwkw still 346ci.

My Clubsport has Mafless Tune, OTR Cold Air Intake, 84mm Throttle body and a 3000 High Stall (coz its an auto obviously). Plus full 2 1/2 inch exhaust with di filippo high flow cats and pacemaker tri y headers that exits into a single 3 1/2 inch pipe out the tail.

Car makes 282.4.rwhp Doesn't sound like much, but another VX R8 auto (280.1rwhp) with same mods except 3.7 gears and 3500 stall ran 12.5 on ET streets and 12.7 on street tyres at full weight (sunroof, spare tyre and rear spoiler)

then it got cam, made 357rwhp and ran 11.8 with 3.9 gears.

Just coz any car makes 350rwhp (ford or holden) doesnt mean its gonna be that fast. A Manual LS1 with cam Can make anywhere from 350-450rwhp and run the same times as the auto VX R8.

And before anyone says anything (like last time) I payed for the car, I paid for the mods, the only thing the folks helped me with was insurance because insuring a HSV under the ager of 25 is hard to do.

Like I said, I can respect the fords, but I hate their V8's.

Not with an unopened motor.

If you don't like ford V8's that your choice :) and everybody is entitled to their own opinion, but a lot of holden people don't realise the power the boss motor makes and with less cubes than the LS1 and most think the fastest Boss is only 13 or 14 secs.

Your right about the power and the times of cars, you need to have the right convertor diff gears tyres etc etc to run good numbers

That comes with Drag Racing...;)
 
Thats why you should always take spare's.

to quote another forum about the event of a private drag day they had on sunday.....

yeah im hearin ya but my mate broke his geabox output shaft
so it was a $200 tow job back to narangba
i was almost going down to watch another mate went paid his entry to spectate and all he saw was that then they were in the pits trying to see what broke
lucky i didnt waste my time

a couple of years ago my mate had a grudge match sort of thing going on in his ls1 ute against a turbo tx5 he ran 4 passes best was 13.9 stock manual
i took my vp calias 5.0 chip dual cat exhaust brand new auto corvette sevo thats al the mods it had
ran 15.2 .5 reaction
got home looked up stats and holden reckons 15.2 standard
i was devestated lol

13.9 is pretty much on the money for a stock ls1 ute.

Im happy punting along doin 13.1's @ 107mph....
 
107 mph indicates your car should be possible of a 12 with all things being good

Dam straight tiger!! dont tell me about 12's... i dont wanna change anything on the car until it runs a 12.9999999999999.

Just gotta wait for a little bit colder weather now. It's no fun hot lapping this time of year.

Biggest problem is my 3.46 diff gears, im hitting the rev limiter in 3rd at the top end of the track. 3.9's would see a 12 instantly.
 
You'll have to punt Fred out of the seat 1st!!
