senior shield 2010

it seems that Horsham is being excluded from Senior Shield for one reason or another..how about shedding some light on the reason or even better..INVITING HORSHAM to the events.
Wayne - i gave the reason i believe that Horsham was not invited to senior shield when Wodonga pulled out. I am not a member of VCTBA exec and i don't attend meetings so i gave my opinion - it may be correct - it may be incorrect.

Personally i have no problem with Horsham being part of VCTBA. One issue it does create though is that it becomes an 11th team. This has two additional problems -
1) Leads to an odd number of teams
2) It means that the country cup events played over two rounds become very looonnng weekends.

There was a lot of negative comment around the length of country cup and this has ceased since it went back to 10 teams. I don't think it is a matter of Horsham being excluded, but more a matter of not wanting to exceed 10 teams - this may or may not change in the future.

Extra teams would be an advantange for Senior shield because it would make it 11 games rather than 9 but makes both Country cups longer comps.

It is very easy to say "INVITE HORSHAM" - and i am sure there are a number of reasons why this should occur but there are also a number of reasons why it is not a good idea - Either way people will complain.

Seven days would not have been long enough for a team to be sorted, along with shirts and accommodation.
Our team had to stay at Kyabram....40 km's away....and that was booked months ago.

I would just like to see other country centres invited to participate when their is enough lanes available. Its good to promote participation in bowling.

Isn't it amazing what some people will do for a dollar (or 5!)

Also if anyone has results from years 1994 - 2001 can you please contact me.
