Emerson Shield - 2007

With the demise of Ed Fleming lanes on July 15th - how does this affect the Emerson team? - esp if they qualify for the final in November. (I hope they will still bowl)

It does throw up some questions for Goldpin to answer....

Does anyone know what format the Western zone final is using.

Last year it was two full rounds with 6 teams - ie 10 games

This year it is 7 teams so two full rounds would be 12 games (either bowling 10 or 12 depending on the bye round). My guess is that it will probably be 1 round (esp as it starts at 9am) -- any ideas anyone??? Mattie find out for me please - i know you will be interested esp as you are in the W'Bool team.

Hi Gary

I spoke with Martin & Eddie Way and the format at Warrnambool is:-

Women Sat - 7 games & 1 Positional
Men Sun - Same format

Check In 9am for approx 9.30 am Start

Eddie also stated not sure if we are required to bowl the bye, most likely will find out on the day..

Is every zone using the same format for their rolloffs this year. As I remember they were different formats

I don't remember our zone bowling a positional before but who knows.

All I know is we are bowling in Horsham on the 4/5 Aug.

How do I get to Horsham?........lol

A BIG APOLOGY TO ALL WHO MISREAD MY PREVIOUS POST. I DID NOT IMPLY THAT SALE WAS NOT TURNING UP BUT THAT IF THIS WEATHER CONTINUES AND THE ROADS ARE CUT THAT HALF OUR TEAM WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET THROUGH.
Now as to why Dandenong bowlers are concerned about this is beyond my comprehension though
Once again I apologise and all you dozens of people can just put the telephone down now.
Liz

The Mitchell River (Bairnsdale) is still rising! The major flood levels are 7 metres at present in so parts up from Bairnsdale the river is over 8 metres and rising
The Avon River is above major flood levels with the Princess Hwy closed at Stratford.
The Thompson River (Sale) is still rising and major flooding for SALE is expected tonight or early tomorrow morning.

IF it continues (more rain tomorrow there is a big possibility that half of the SALE team wont make it through and IF we get the rain the SALE team members won't be coming either.

So there is a possibility that SALE will not be coming down. But listen to ABC radio to get up dates on the status of the roads and rivers.

Liz and myself are going to try to leave Sale around lunch time to see if we can get through, as for our bowlers that live in Bairnsdale (and surrounding area, 50% of our team) well its a matter of wait and see what happens with water levels. Hopefully we will be able to field a team.;)

Liz,

Hopefully all bowlers will be able to get through and make the final. 24 hours is a long time and the weather might actually start behaving in that time. In the meantime good luck to all bowlers and lets have a great day and celebrate bowling in Ed Fleming Lanes

Water levels are dropping in nearly all catchments.
Moderate flood levels are still around Sale. Basically the area surrounding Sale is a lake or inland sea.

We (fingers crossed) will be able to field a team. Just a matter of Lake Glenmaggie holding the spillway there to 32,000 megalitres per day which is 3 megs under Major Flood levels. Glenmaggie holds 200,000 megs when full, so a little under a quarter capacity is spilling over each day! Gotta remember that the Lake was only at 50% full on Wednesday.

So SALE will be there!

Wishing all the teams the best of luck tomorrow, if nothing else it should be some good fun ;)
