Emerson Shield 2006

Emerson rules are pretty minimal when it comes to running the zone finals. Pretty much all that is specified is that they must be completed by end of August. Whether they bowl men and women together or separately is up to the centre hosting the zone final and can be changed if necessary.

Woza - As Latrobe Valley has no womens team then that means each round there will be a bye and because the bye is not bowled you will actually only need 10 lanes - 6 for men and 4 for women each game (the fith team will be standing out). Therefore you still have two spare lanes in case of breakdowns.

I'd have to agree with Steve though Gary.

Look forward to seeing Narre Warren at Werribee - only question is whether Colac will make it through with the home ground advantage.

I see a few complaints coming in already about how centres run things, that is the centres choice how they run zone finals, Emerson is run by the centres not the associations. If you have any complaints take them to Goldpin and not here because nothing will change with words spoken here.
If you choise to bowl in these Tournies, you are the one that that does this and you play by the rules or conditions laid down.
I bowl in two centres (Sale & Morwell) and the conditions laid down are totaly different to each other which makes me have to realy think about my game and make me mentaly tuff, isn't that what it's all about.
I know when I travel I will perform better because of this.

Eg: Sale Ave 168 Morwell 170
Sunshine: State Champs 202
Ed fleming in a tourny 204
Keon park in a tourny 207
Senior shield Ballarat 190
Country Cup Geelong 194

Does this make me a cheat (sandbagger if you wish) or someone who is capable of bowling well on easier enviroments. (eg: synthetic lanes, better oiling macines etc):p

Focus on the game and not the negative things you think and you will be a better bowler for this and enjoy yuor game more!!:D

I would say we are a much better chance to get through than if it had been bowled at Warrnambool. We are a very small centre in arguably the strongest zone.

At least in Colac, on wood, we have some small advantage. No point making outlandish predictions, but i think we have a team that is capable of getting through to the final - hopefully we will see you in Werribee.

What has this (your bowling ability & lane conditions) got to do with people complaining about wanting to bowl on Saturday instead of Sunday:confused:

Steevie I was trying to figure that one out myself!
Can we get any comments from the FEMALE bowlers who are the ONE's most effected by the changed days! only seem to have males responding and not too much has changed for them only perhaps a delay at the end of the day.
Woza - yes someone has spoken to Sale and I am not "just shooting my mouth off".
By the way, some people do have a life outside of bowling!

I think the home ground adv for a centre like Colac, Melton et all is more pronounced than say a synthetic house with a Kegel. I would back you guys and Werribee to get through, leaving the last place being fought out by Ballarat, Warnnambool, Melton and Geelong. I'd back us to beat any of those teams on a tough condition on wood...but if the shot is easy and lets you swing it, Geelong may cruise through. I like our chances simply because Colac is a similar centre to Melton.

But we will see :)

And Sales response was  - for the change
It most probably would have made it easier on travel arrangements for the centres further away to have bowled both men and women on Saturday. Thus giving them the opportuniy to stay the night and travel home on Sunday and not interfering with work commitments.

I think the depth of Werribee is such that they will get through regardless of the lane type, but the next two spots are definitely up for grabs. I would say that the lane conditions will not be tough enough to exclude the other centres (we had 5 bowlers above 200 average at our roll off, so high scores will be possible - the critical thing will be how long it takes bowlers from other centres to find their shot). I think bowling at home will make us more competitive than we would have been on synthetics, and I will be disappointed if we don't get through, but i am certainly not booking accomodation in Werribee just yet.

Just in my point of view. Colac would have to be favorites to advance in the finals since they have a home lane advantage. There will be some competition for sure but by going on colacs performance when Country Cup was played there, then they will be tough to beat.

Lanes have been re-surfaced since Country Cup Peter. Also, our best two bowlers from Country Cup are not in the team for Emerson. I still stand by what i said - we are a big chance but other teams will have a big chance too.

I scraped into the Horsham team to bowl at Shep. Are the lanes there sythetic or wood like ours??
Bloody long drive from here. Hope its a late start on Sunday hic

To be honest it has nothing to do with it. Its all dribble and eralavent but thats the point.
No rules broken by doing what he has done, you can complain about it, but at the end of the day it wont change. So go and enjoy your what is normally a very hard fought tourny instead of complaining about something that wont change and maybe be put of your game because of it. :D :D

Synthetic means nothing really, is it HPL or Anvilane. Bothose the surfaces will give a completely differrent reaction.

Means everything with respect to what the lanes were (ie...wood)
