Emerson Shield 2006

Goldpin Victoria are seeking expressions of interest from member centres for a SENIORS CHALLENGE to be held in January.

Seniors will be 50 or over. As it stands at the moment it will be 1 representative team from each centre, comprised of 3 men and 3 women. Much like Goldpin Youth.

Sounds like a lot of fun too. Location? Can't remember.....but I think it was a country location.

Stay tuned for more...

Thanks for info on seniors. Sadly that counts me out. So the only thing I can still bowl is Senior Shield unless they change the age on that from 45 to 50 as well as the odd ATBSOV tourny. :(

Zone finals coming up in a couple of weeks.

Western Zone final is in Colac - August 5th (Women) and August 6th (Men)

Northen Zone final in Shepparton - August 5th and 6th

Eastern Zone final in Sale - not sure of the dates.

It will be interesting to see which centres get through to the final to take on Shepparton Men and Geelong ladies.

Still hoping to be there. Fighting a serious arm injury to be available.

May just have to try and bowl left handed. :p

At sale for the zone, might actually help improve my performance  after my last 2 visits.

Is the Goldpin Senior Challenge 50 and over, not 45 and over?????
Heard that it may be held in Bendigo.
Does it matter David? -- don't you qualify for both age groups?? :p

Are they for real? Why isn't it held on Saturday then?

The dates posted up at Sale originally said Saturday and Sunday. It has been changed for some reason to Sunday only. Not sure of the reason.

Last year was the first year that the zone final was over 2 days. This was based on the fact that there would not have been enough lanes if all centres fielded teams (Sale did not field any teams). When we bowled zones finals in the past generally the juniors bowled on Saturday and the Adults on Sunday. Last year there was no zone finals for the kids.
Whats the matter Steevie not enough energy to keep that mouth of yours going for 10 games;)

No problems keeping my mouth going for 20 games Woza. You should know that. It's the rest of my body that needs to rest

Just think of it as good practice for if you bowl the final at Werribee Steve.

10 games in one day during the final too -- although admitedly it is 10 Saturday and only 8 Sunday. Also you have 7 bowlers so you don't necessarily have to bowl all 10 games. Maybe you could rest your body for a couple and still give some friendly banter while resting.:)

Our zone is having 8 games for Women on Saturday and 10 for the Men on Sunday. Reason - not enough lanes in Colac for both to be bowled together.

Very much looking forward to it too here...although the day at Sale will be very long. It will be interesting to see how everyone handles Colac :)

The Sale zone final has been changed from women bowling on Saturday and men on Sunday, to both women and men on the Sunday. That is fine if you have a bowling centre large enough to accommodate both sections. Sale has 12 lanes. What happens if they have a machinery breakdown/s (which is not that unlikely), will we still be there Monday morning??
What right does Sale Bowl have to change the format (Sat - women, Sun - men) as originally advised and I understand agreed to, at their whim.
I'm sure when most bowlers tried out for their respective centres teams, they set aside the day they were required to bowl, and arranged their accommodation accordingly. However, we now have to re-arrange both. And this may not be possible for all bowlers.

Gary, what do you mean IF? WE WILL BE GOING TO WERRIBEE !!!! FACT !!!!
I don't have a problem with a long day saturday. Would have all day sunday to get home. My problem is Sunday. It's going to be midnight by the time I get home providing no break downs during the day.

6 male teams and 6 female teams = 12 - providing everyone fields a side - Morwell has no ladies side so assuming that everyone else fields in both divisions you only need 11 lanes
Surley 12 lanes is sufficient no point having 100 lanes if you only have 12 lanes that need to be used.
As for breakdowns yes they do happen and all the best planning in the world cant stop them but it is not the end of the world as you seem to be making it out to be. I trialled Rachuig this year and the breakdown of the kegel couldnt have happened at a worst time but such is life and you get on with what you are there for and bowl to the best of your ability no matter what the obstacles. In the end the people you are bowling against are experiencing the same conditions as you

Has anyone thought and spoken to Sale directly for this decision or just shooting off at the mouth because their apple cart was upset

From what you are saying the only change is that the women are now bowling on Sunday - no change has been made to the mens draw - they still have to bowl 10 games and even if there were spare lanes available you could not have changed the finish time:confused: Either way it was always going to be a late finish for the men on Sunday night and if 1 other centre does no field both mens and womens teams then there will be a spare pair of lanes.
