Easy American Lanes

I found out today that although we in Australia use an 3:1 ratio, at least where I bowl, the average American condition is a 15:1 ratio, I was terrified!

Any comments?

Other than i wouldnt trust the figures someone reported to you, but yeah, alot of house shots are just huge walls of oil. I dont really believe 15:1 though. We dont use 3:1 either, thats FIQ, not a house shot. At present, there isnt any real restriction on oiling ratios from center to center. Sports condition does pop up quite a lot in regional events over there.

Those Americans cheat at just about everything. Must be hell to be a Yank. They never earn anything honestly..
"If you can't earn it..lie, cheat and steal to get it"

More then one person gave me these figures, some said 20:1, I know that in America your allowed to have as much oil in the centre of the lane, and as little as you want on the outside, the minimum of oil over there is 3 units.

Also my main leagues (All but one) use a 3:1 ratio.

"AMERICA" is a big place.

I know for a fact that there are some centres that run a 100 - 1 ratio (where the outside only has conditioner on it accidently- therefor the ratio really means nothing).

Not to dis-similar to some AMF centres in Australia not to long ago - where they applied ZERO oil outside 5 board (including national tournaments !).

I also am aware of centres that lay a flat condition (1:1).

It really means jack*&^

There are some bowlers who never want to bowl competetively and like to see their ball hook - so they bowl at bowling alleys with big open shots.

There are other bowlers who want to improve their games and bowl at centres where they have to learn to bowl property.

The law of supply and demand will ensure that both of these scenarios continue to exist.

to generalise "AMERICA" as having an easy shot is like saying "All bowlers drink beer".

Wayne - glad to see you have a sense of humour about it all !!! PS - what condition do you lay?

OLD BOWLERS NEVER DIE - THEIR BALLS JUST GET LIGHTER...
