Counrty Cup 2005

oh by the way

i can see that it would be beneficial to the host centre not to have the extra team, especially in losing the extra $550 in lineage fees.

but we don't have committee's to make money, just spend it

and most the time spending it on tea, coffee and meals whilst volunteering their duties, at compulsory events like championships

that are compulsory for people to bowl in, which include a fee for us to pay for their meals, whilst we invest money to win 10% of it back, oops break even when we take our meals and drinks out.

thats if you win an event

the sooner all committees are abolished the better
and the same for walter de veer
and the same for anyone else that free loads

you can all go play bingo or something

cause if you loved bowling as much as you say you do, you would be trying to foster and promote and getting as many people to participate as you possibly could

instead you find petty ways to stop growth and then wonder why you can't get the numbers :!: :!: :!:

Gee craig, not sure why u have worked in bowling centres most of yr working life.................u should be in politicts

politics hey

:?: :?: :?:

good idea

:!: :!: :!:

what should i call the party ???

maybe my fellow electorate could help me in creating a name for my party

any ideas grumpie???

Setting the record straight...

Werribee Superbowl offered to pace in the Country Cup for 3 main reasons:
1. Our bowlers love to bowl.
2. Our bowlers love to bowl.
3. Our bowlers love to bowl.

Next came the following:
a) We saw there was a bye and it would have filled an empty space, and most bowlers enjoy bowling against people instead of a score.
b) We never wanted a free ride and would have contributed to linage- making it sensible and possible for CCCommittee to contribute to Geelongs lost linage.
c) In terms of location it wasn't a hefty cost to our bowlers as they can travel to and from Geelong comfortably.
d) We never wanted our scores to count, purely pace.
e) Emerson was so much fun that we wanted to have another good time! (obviously limited by the CC Constitution).
f) We didn't evem want to know the secret country cup committee handshake or password! (yeah, that's tongue in cheek).

I am disappointed that the committee didn't have the courtesy to call me or email me (or even use a courier pigeon) about not accepting our proposal. Since this site enlightened me to the situation I have realised that many bowlers (not on the committee) knew about our request and the result before me. Incidentally, I still haven't been officially contacted although I have been informed (via bowlers) that a committee member has told them personally we can't bowl. It is obviously not a professionally run organisation but is more focused on keeping out centres like Melton and Werribee instead of looking after the integrity of our sport.

This is the only sport that actually acts as its own worst enemy! We have people who want to participate and we turn them away. And why? Because they live 45km away and not 52, 65 or 82km depending on who you talk to and which road you take.

Thank you to the bowlers who actually used sense and logic in supporting our request.

Edi

and before i get corrected, the lineage would be $1100 as i forgot to count the women

as you can tell, at least i'm on the right side of the boss

she's a gun

Might be abit quick to judge the committee until you are officially told you officially do not know whether you are in nor out.

The information that you recieve on here may

1. Be Peoples personal opinions without knowing all of the facts to which the proposal was put in.
2. Information that may/may not have been said and is many hands old.

If Werribee have put in a request to be part of CCup 2005 as a pacer team then it should be discussed at the next Country meeting given a fair hearing and voted on, the applicant is notified of the outcome end of story. I have been part of a few commitees now and some of the rumors etc that go around are quite humorous at times and could not be further from the truth.

In the end only one person/committee can give you the answer as to whether you are accepted/not accepted to be part of CCup 2005 and I would suggest that you contact this person/committee if you have any concerns regarding the outcome of your submission.

*For the sake of quoting Edi's full post, I loved it...and as a (self delegated) Melton representative I agree 100%. Melton would bowl in country cup as a pacer purely because we love to bowl in team events such as Dunn/Emerson/Country cup. The fact that country centres have country cup AND Emerson annoys me for one fact only...

I love to bowl in them

For many reasons, the company, camaraderie etc etc. Hodgey may have made a similar post I'm not sure, but I dont think he has Edi's motivation ;) But it isnt politics to me, I would like to bowl in those events....however possible. And as a Melton bowler, I thought Edi's post was great. So what if we're 40km from the CDB, not 100km. Is that sole reason to exclude us? (or Werribee) when you have a bye present?

Adam.

Sorry Woza but THAT meeting was two weeks ago. That's why many bowlers know the outcome already as committee members have told them so.

I hear what you guys are saying in that you want to bowl in the CCups, the Emersons, the Dunn Shields etc and all for the same reasons

Thats why we have to get this other tournament off the ground and up and running.

Country Cup 2005

Fair is fair. I don't hear any of you guys sticking the boots into AMF because Werribee can't bowl Dunn Shield, so how about accepting things - you are not an AMF centre so you can't bowl Dunn Shield - you are not a country centre so you can't bowl Country Cup. If Werribee was told they could bowl as pacers and suddenly Melton said that they would like to pace as well, what is supposed to happen? Constitutions are in place in all sports and they are the rules so put the boxing gloves and insults away, we are there for the good of the sport and for anybody to accuse us otherwise is totally unfair and uncalled for.

Fair is fair....Melton got kicked out of Dunn shield before Ballarat...even though Melton is classed as metropolitan...then we had nothin to bowl in at all til Goldpin made Emerson. Wheres the logic? because AMF owned Ballarat for a minute? c'mon.

The problem is the segregation...so many different team events, so much division in the bowling community. Craig was saying something about a Queensland state teams event...wherever you are, you can put in a team. Why such a divide with all this? Anyway I'm not crying foul...if Werribee managed to get into CC because of their own decisiveness...good luck to them, I'm glad they get their foot in the door. But since they havent, I guess we'll have to work harder to unite the Victorian community.

None of my opinions come from anger, merely wanting to bowl in as many team events as possible....is that so wrong?

I don't think Dunn Shield has anything to do with this topic nor does the past. What we're talking about here was an opportunity. Not rule changing. An opportunity came along because CCup had a bye. If you have a group of pacers willing to come along and pay upfront for absolutely no advantage at all apart from the joy of bowling well then why not. Centre would be happy for the extra lineage and there was room for CCup to make their cut too. And IF they had more than one team asking, then make them roll off for the spot = more money for the register.
I'm the same as rychenroller in saying that none of my opinions come from anger, but I just finished reading posts on other pages about tourneys being cancelled due to lack of interest.

Doriana :? :? :?

unlike the above

my comments do come in anger

closed mindedness annoys the crap out of me

p.s already worn a few boots out on amf over the years

Country Cup 2005

The opportunity has not come up for Werribee to bowl Country Cup. An opportunity may have come up for Echuca or Horsham but it certainly has not come up for Werribee, Melton or any other metropolitan teams. You are not Country Centres. And anyway, where were all the offers for pacers to fill the bye at Senior Shield?
