28th paid the same with 37 entries as it would have if they had 72 entries. so i have no problem.

suppose you have to expect that when you have so many withdrawls & no shows....

Given it was not specified how many entrants the prizes was based on, it shouldn't be changed. People can suggest it's insinuated that less numbers = less money, but if the number of entrants the prize fund is based on isn't given, and changes can be made to the money awarded, it opens a tournament up to give out whatever they like and say they didn't get enough numbers. "We only got 70 entries, prize fund was based on 100".

Getting shortchanged to the tune of $200 for 20th is one thing but shortchanged $330 for 7th won't encourage numbers next year.

It would have also encouraged numbers had there been an entry form in the first place for this tournament.

I am convinced that the only people who did turn up were those that new about the tournament through total bowling or who had bowled in the tournament in previous years.

If that is the way this tournament is going to be advertised then you are only getting to about 10% of the bowling community.

I would rather see an entry form go to all centres so that bowlers know about it. Unfortunately most centres probably wouldn't display it but in the end it is a starting point as some centres will actually display tournament entry forms for other centres.

More communication wouldn't go astray either. The information provided and the unpdates that came after it was very few and far between. For this tournament there was an update around the 3rd Nov. but nothing after that until a couple of days before the tournament. I would be interested to know how many actually pulled out thinking the event was going to be cancelled or weren't sure what was going on.

Then I was also disappointed that to be told one thing on Total bowling and then not be informed that things had been changed isn't a good look either. To tell bowlers that lanes will be available by 3pm on the day before for practice and then not actually get on to those lanes until about 7pm that night is poor organisation. It is disappointing and frustrating to be turned away and have to come back at a later time. At the end of the day, if bowlers are going to be inconvienced or disadvantaged or given a bad service then the experience gained from that tournament isn't going to be as good and may think twice about the event in the future.

I would be disappointed with only recieving $270 for 7th Place. I know that lack of sponsors and lack of entrants doesn't help for the prize fund however the prize fund should be in some way made up to a point to make it half reasonable for the placing that has been achieved by a bowler.

Just my thoughts.

I am probably going to be made out to be the bad one for pointing it out but Total Bowling is becoming obsolete.

Tourneys need to find other ways to advertise if they want good numbers. Like stated above, TB is only a very small part of the bowling community and it is getting smaller.

Perhaps you could come up with another avenue for National/State/local events to be published which would also allow bowlers to nominate for those events. Centres do not like advertising brochures for other centres, TBA website gives info. on the National events but not local etc. and you cannot nominate.

Perhaps we (us much maligned tournament organisers!) would be better served by using bowlers like yourself to advertise Total Bowling to your fellow bowlers and make them aware that this is where events are to be found. The Kegel Qld. Open has one spot available for a March tournament .... the entry forms are still sitting in my office at home and the majority of entries apart from the locals are from this website.

Twin Tour uses TB extensively with great success and many thanks to Jason for his co-operation over the years. We all realize some changes need to be made BUT WHO WILL DO IT ???? Plenty of talk and criticism but ......

Merry Christmas and Education for the bowlers who do NOT know about this site is what is needed and TBAQ certainly use it along with their own website to publicize appropriate events/training etc. If each State did this and each tournament did this and each Association did this, maybe the information about tournaments, leagues etc. would be made more public but I am looking forward to your solution. We need the bowlers to be informed that this information is available HERE for everyone about everything that is on.

Now, for my XXXX to kick start my Christmas although the 'old persons' party on Saturday took care of that really ! ENJOY !
