Berri is on for 2009 - Squad listing below

BTW Bobba, I won't quote your post (because it may crash this page) but.....

SH*T THAT'S CLEAR!

If one doesn't get it by seeing that.....ya never will.

Tournaments are very hard and costly to run,I spent thousands this weekend to provide, yes the conditions were tough for everybody! the info that i posted was fact, from the manufactures of the machine in the USA via AMF Sydeny, a double run to 22 ft was posted is infact approx 120 units, please feel free to contact Brad at AMF!The conditions were the same all day odviously if you read the lanes well the score showed.

I did the best I could, to provide a trouble free tournament, there were no issues all weekend ,I thank the staff who worked so hard for all the bowlers,it make me sad and to a point to pull the event over a few Bowlers criticism, I do take it to heart, I worked dam hard to please everbody odviously even bowlers who didnt bowl have some ill feeling toward the Tournament.
The top 16, 169 pins the difference from top to bottom for me it was a great comp you had to work for every pin.
Onya Rob who played with a bung knee and finished 9th well done,

Congratulations to George for winning the tournament !and to Ann Maree to stick it up the blokes !! Colin Hunt who gave it to George all day and to Jason walsh who Finished in the top 4.and to all of you who participated I thankyou very much...

I am glad that the majority enjoyed the challange.

Steve...

I will post the final results tomorrow morning...

Well said Steve i wasn't there so i wont comment on anything but i spoke to travis barnard who i coach and he wasn't dissapointed with the way he bowled he said it was tuff but it was tuff for everyone.
maybe next year i will get over for this and put up brenton davy, colin hunt and frosty u old bastards will see u guys next year in victoria fo the a.t.b.s.o nationals

Regards Greg Byrne

Talk about interesting comments...........I almost feel left out..........

Sounds like it was a tough but great tournament!

My only question would be, if the same conditions was laid down next year, will everyone return to bowl again?

Will they fill the tournament?

Cheers

Tony

I would like to personally thank Steve, Anne and all the team at Berri for a very well run tournament. It was great to see so many bowlers there and it was great to catch up with some old faces.

Like has been said before, people are always asking for tougher patterns, yet when they are delivered these people are the first to criticise. What more can centres do to make people happy?

There has always been great debate as to how seriously bowling is taken as a sport in Australia. Maybe if certain bowlers stopped complaining so much and just accepted the challenges that sometimes arise in sport, then our great game would be taken more seriously by others.

There are not many sports in the world where you can expect perfect conditions each time you get out there. Bowling is no different, and there are many factors that can influence the final product that you get to bowl on.

If you are only taking gear to a tournament for one condition, then perhaps you can not expect to do overly well. Like what was said earlier, conditions change.

How about we focus on the great elements of this tournament and do our best to make sure that SA has some tournaments left. Otherwise we might find that we all need to spend a lot more money travelling to tournaments that are further away.

Steve, Anne and their team have done a great job with this tournament and they do not deserve to receive such negative feedback just because it didn't suit a few people or it wasn't what they expected it to be. There were lanes, there were pins - and these were able to be bowled down as long as you were consistent throughout the weekend.

I will certainly be back next year and I think anyone who is thinking rationally will be there also.

Congratulation to George on winning his second consecutive Riverland Cup!

I just want to thank Anne and Steve for a great job over the weekend. NO problems which meant the tournament ran smoothly.
For those that bowled we experienced a very challenging conditions, and Quoting my mum A GOOD BOWLER WILL ADJUST TO OVERCOME A TOUGH CONDITION. Those that made the adjustment, i beleive cashed in the end.
So - stop baging this tournment if you didnt bowl and grow up - Steve and Anne put in time and Money so we can have this tournament.

enough said.

Dolly

I don't see hardly anyone here bagging the tournament here , or is everyone just paranoid.

Hey Michael, Just seeing how every-one enjoyed a challenging condition on the week-end, it's ashame afew more of them can't come out and support the sports series ?

cheers

Tony

First of all Ann Maree and I would like to Thank Steve and a very well run tournament it was great to come over here and bowl and support a country tournament. Yes the conditions were tough but we all had to bowl on them. Steve did the best he could with the oiling machine he had. I did not bowl very good but I still really enjoyed the challenging the conditions, Ann Maree bowled great. It was great to see 70 bowlers supporting this tournament and still having fun.
Ann Maree and I will be back next year, looking forward to the tournament and the tough conditions we all have to learn from them and adjust.
Thanks Steve,Anne and staff they put alot of effort and there own money into these tournaments for us to come and bowl so bowlers enjoy.
Carol Gianotti and Ann Maree Putney

Can someone tell me what sort of oiling machine it was? If its a century 100 my offer is still open, hell i'll mail you guys the 2 plastic rulers to put in the thing so i dont have to fly down. All the money and enthusiasm is great but minus the product knowledge and bad things happen

The emotions appear to be running high. Unfortunately I couldn’t bowl on the weekend but I did watch on Sunday and enjoyed watching some great bowlers. Congratulations to the top 4.

There are two schools of thought. Set an easier pattern to allow all bowlers to reach a higher tournament average and retain their self esteem or set a tough pattern that will challenge all bowlers but with the knowledge the averages will be down. I’m buggered if I know which one is right but I have said it before – a tougher condition can be better for an “average” bowler as it can be a great equaliser.

I’m not sure an easier condition would have changed the result other than the thread wouldn’t have been as entertaining.

To Steve – don’t let the comments of a few get you down. Talk to Steve Rawson (Village) about how bowlers like to comment on lane conditions. You ran what looked like to great tournament – the sport needs the support of centres like Berri bowl and people like you. I’ll be a starter for next year.

Thanks Steve, Anne and the rest of the staff at Berri Bowland for putting on such a superb tournament. The customer service you all provide is second to none. Berri would have to be one of the best looking centres I’ve seen and if anyone is thinking about building a new centre, I’d advise a visit to Berri first.
As for the tournament, the pattern was tough, as seen by the scores posted. Some tournaments are high scoring, some are low. This one happened to be low... simple. The prize fund was fantastic considering the low entry fee and the various awards given out including a Plasma TV for the High Game shows the effort put in to make this such a great tournament. I’m sure Carol appreciated her ‘Double Gutter’ award.
All in all it was a great weekend, catching up with friends that I don’t get to see very often and bowling in a terrific tournament at a fantastic centre.
Looking forward to going back next year.
Cheers
Russell Hinton

Sorry mate, we went via Bordertown and Pinnaroo. Next time I'll try to fit the clubs in and go via Mildura.
The troops are good. Say g'day to the girls for me.

After seeing how tough the condition was l'm spewing l missed it. Hope to be there next year, sounds like you did a great job running it Steve.

I was thinking the same thing....great minds must think alike!

Hopefully a little CASH enticement will see a few numbers turn out....I''m trying to push as close to the $800-$1000 first prize as possible...but as you say, all depends on numbers.

The negativity seems to have subsided now......shows that good will always overcome evil!
