I'll have to agree with Phill, SQ's chances for this year are heaps high specially for the girls.. We got 7 experienced players all guaranteed to shoot huge games when theyre needed.. I also think the boys have a good chance also, a great team full of talent. Its funny to see all act southern ppl making an opinion first!!

I also have to agree with Philly Hayles and Kristen
In the girls with a team of 7 expericened girls as well are who all ave well last year and have been all year what more can you ask for in a winning team, good coaches, good management.

As for the boys with only 3 newies all wit great shots a a good head on em' they can all do the job well and get it done wit style

so i think we are more of a force than you all think we are

Cant wait to get down there and see you all watching us as we collect our medals!!!

look get all of your sq will win, act/southern will win trash over with. all of u are hiding behind your team as u know that CENTRAL will take the honours. Just face facts we have top players and a top team

- and as for experience, central would probably have the most experienced boys team.

boys and girls enough squabling already

you cant overlook the vic girls. they have tremendous depth.
but it will not be easy for them as sq will be hot on their heels. certainly these 2 teams will be the pack leaders.

for the boys i believe there are a few teams that could win it. act & sothern and central are lookin good but i dont know about the depth though. the vic boys are a young side but each one chips in when it counts, no easy beats. this is a tough one to pick. should make for some good bowlin and close on the boys behalf.

i say go vics

Ok a serious post from me,

Looks to me like all the teams on the East are going to be the front runners, Mainy, Vic, Southern, Central and SQ.

5/7 of the southern boys bowl at XZONE week in week out and the other two have bowled her quite alot aswell. In the girls also 5/7 bowl week in week out at the nationals venue.

We have not only home town but virtually home centre advantage with 10/14 bowlers from XZONE itself, what more could we ask for?

Not only that but both girls and boys can perform and with an Aussie representative and two of last years All Stars members in the boys team i'd have to say were looking good.

Sammy leading the girls, only girl with more experience than her in shield would be Bee, she'll lead the girls into battle and come out on top.

Central always seem to do well, the guys team will hold them up. SQ has two strong teams that look dangerous to everyone with alot of talent. Vics chick team looks unbeatable atm only sq and southern will be fighting with them. There boys team aint no slouch either.


Well only a bit over 2 months to go now so I guess we'll see how it all pans out, good luck to all bowling and lets have some fun.

i'm going to agree with parlbs on this one...

our vic girls have great depth, and we should have a really good chance of taking it out back to back.. though sq a sure gonna be a challenge. Yet then again, anything could happen and a completely unexpected team could end up being the one to beat.

for the boys, our team is young but they know how to bowl. Still, the team to beat will probably be ACT/Southern

As for masters... i'd say cow and bianca. yet trace, cass, reynolds and ant should all be up there

As said it will really depend on how people can bowl at shield and also on how people can work together as a team u may have a team of really good bowlers but can they bowl well together.

I must say, those that think they're not biased are kidding themselves. Not that there's anything wrong with wanting your own team to win, but the fact you bowl for a given team means you're automatically biased.

And as far as comparing teams, I know I havent bowled against anyone from any of the other states this year, so how can I judge their teams, or vice a versa. The only other teams I can be confident of our position with, are Central & Northern NSW, cause we've already bowled with them in a couple of events this year.

Hey Tookey, for such top players & such a top team, where were you at NSW STATE?!?!?! Your girls had to hold you up in Challenge Shield, & again in the Open masters, where Kara won & your top placed boy in the open masters was only 7th. Sure, you were missing Bobby, but you cant tell me the whole team depends on Bobby.

So look, get all your "Central will win" trash over with. You're just hiding behind the Central name, cause your own skills are lacking. Just face facts your team didnt perform at the Nationals centre.

- and as for experience, it doesnt mean jack if you dont perform.

well i can understand if u are jealous, i know we are good. the fact remains that when we played you at challenge sheild, we thrashed u 6-1....as for the little league teams, such as orange and the western warriors,we felt sorry for them, and gave them a chance as they wont be at sheild....all that counts is that we beat u.

as for hiding behind my team, its not my fault that u guys hide behind tyrone....my i add he performed extremly well, being the only southern player in the boys top 3....congrats southern, at least one of your training boys can perform on your home lanes!!! cant wait for sheild....no crying in the corner now, when central takes the cup!!

we dont care that ACT/Southern boys won the gold medal all that we care about is the fact that we beat them in one game?

Is this ur tactic for shield? if u come up against a team that is struggling ur just going to say oh we feel sorry for you we will let you win beacuse we just defeated ACT/Southern??
While at the same time ACT/Southern is still fighting to win that gold medal but u dont care about winning that GOLD!! medal because u have had one victory

We won the Boys Challenge Shield.
CONGRATULATIONS boys, I wish i could've been there with you to enjoy what would have been a very sweet victory. But Personally, I know what I'd rather. Brett made a good point that you were missing Bobby, he is a quality bowler and wouldve made a difference, but it wasn't like Southern/ACT was at full strength either.
Shield is going to be fun.

Who said were jealous? Yes you did thrash us 6-1, well done you deserved to beat us, as did Northern the game before.

Please Marc at nationals do your team a favour and do dont hold back for anyone, you got to go into every game with the intention of white washing your opponent, no matter who they are. Not taking anything away from you guys but we didn't bowl as a team the first two games at all. We went aside after coming last after 2 games and we got spit roasted forr our performace, we went back out there together, as a team, bowled together and kept each other up, we turned the score sheet upside down. Now who should feel bad, if we can go from last to 1st like that with the right motives imagine what were going to do at nationals!!!

....all that counts is that we beat u.

Oh really? can I see the medal for beating us, oh thats right there is none because one game doesn't mean anything in this format!

And who the hell said we were hiding behind Tyrone, he beat everyone fair and square, he didn't hold us up. Me and Brett Hall were also placed higher than any of the central boys. Look at the facts first. Central won chicks Southern won guys, I don't see why we should have to hide. And talk about people holding us up, your chicks are the only reason you got a medal in challenge shield, Southern was 1 in boys adn 2 in chicks, were not hiding behind anyone..

Dont take any of this personally Marc or anyone else in the central team, just stating the facts.

Hey Marc, dont take my post about you not having any skill too personally, I was just taking a crack at the arrogance of your first post. Plus you were hiding behind your username, thanks a lot for posting your real name.

I'm not sure what it is I need to be jealous for. My results this year speak for themselves. I'm proud of myself, proud of what I've accomplished this year, & even prouder that I've done it after a 2+ year hiatus from bowling. And I'm especially proud of the girls & guys that I call MY TEAM MATES. Now sorry if there's something I'm still missing here, but I cant exactly see what you've got that I should be jealous of.

Maybe next time, you should think a little harder about what you're typing before you type. Especially when trying to use "facts" to support a cause, when those facts MAKE YOU LOOK CRAP.

Not to put another damper on Central team- but Central chicks didn't win anything ---- Northern girls came first and Northern boys came second by one point!! Southern boys came first and their girls came in second - Central girls came in third and the boys 4th. There were no Central boys in the top 5 in masters either - there were 3 Northern boys & 2 southern boys!! What is this argument about anyway - it will be a whole new ball game at Nationals with a whole lot more people thrown in & everyone will be there to win & enjoy themselves. We all want to win & the team that works together and bowls best under the pressure will come out on top :!: :!: :!: See you all there
