NAB Cup.

That was a great performance today by Geelong. Felt we were lucky to be only 4 goals behind at half time considering how much Geelong were killing us out of the centre. Then it went from bad to worse.... no surprise that Laidley wouldn't let anyone in the rooms after the game. I hope he has ripped shreads off them!

Being one of about 500 North supporters at the game, it was a long walk back to the car!

This is the only time i'll ever say this (as i utterly dispise both teams) but Go Cats....

(That hurt a lot saying that)

I still hope both miss out on the 8!!!

Hows your $45bn debt going?

yeah sorry i tipped geelong to win...being in queensland we dont hear much about whats happening to the clubs in Melbourne...how can a team be in that much debt...i suppose a few wins would help clear that problem????lol!!!
I dont really care who wins if the teams are from Melbourne unless they are Carlton or Richmond.
Any team that can beat Brisbane is a pretty good team (magpie supporter) pity essendon couldnt do it tonight.

What a game...Go the pies!!!!!!!

Another pathetic, insipid effort from North today.
They question their supporters loyality with lack of memberships, when they lack any spirit whatsoever on the field.

Impressed by Dan Harris, continues to get plenty of the ball in the guts. Brady did well on the wing, and Wells actually showed some heart today. Other big note was the big Savaloy up forward with 6 goals. Its a pity these four players had 18 idiots running along side them in blue and white!!

I would give anything to have Nathan Thompson and Jonathan Hay back to Hawthorn - They are pathetic in every since of the word!

Now my North rant is over...

Well done to Collingwood, by far the greater side out at the Dome today. In the first half and a bit thought we were a real sniff with the lack of run you had (unless we turned it over). But from then on, we had to resort to chipping the ball around whilst you went straight down the guts and made us pay!!

Finally, GOLDSPINK should never ever umpire another league game again. He is disgraceful!

Hey Craig we were good today, but jeez you guys were totally different from the north we've come to expect...was pretty sad to see as I like to watch them when they are on song. Hate to be a North supporter right now...good luck

And 2 first round picks for Hay....thats friggen tragic.

I thought you guys were good today, first quarter was a good tough quarter of football... Two contrasting styles - Collingwood slow and calculated, whilst North ran forward whenever possible.....

Once the game opened up, it allowed Collingwood to run forward much easier (after Buckley started destroying us in the midfield). Forwards were very unaccountable, only forward who was trying apply pressure was Rocca!!!
Our poor accountability allowed you guys to crack the game open and pounce on every turn over we made entering F50.

I was looking forward to a great season this year. But things have turned bleak very quickly. FWIW, I tipped Collingwood today, but I didn't expect that performance for a second week in a row from my boys...

It could be a long season!!
CR

P.S. As for Hay, he was pathetic.... Hopefully he can get some confidence soon, he gets spooked whenever someone runs at him!!
His Hawthorn partner now seems unable to read the flight of the ball and runs underneath it!! Hopefully Thommo lifts as well!

good game this weekend?? Collingwood v Brisbane whose going to win?

Australia vs Holland should be a good game, will be another good hitout before the World Cup - This time against a world class team...

As for Collingwood v Brisbane, Tarrent is a big loss for Collingwood.
I think Collingwood will win if they can contain Brown to less then 5 goals. Anything more and Brisbane are more then a real show!
FWIW Collingwood to win by 8pts, with Brown kicking 5 for the Lions

As for my boys, they will have a big crack this weekend. Hopefully they can then translate that into some decent football!!
Swans by a big margin :(:(

tarrent is only one part of our forward line. If havent noticed we have more than one goal kicker in are team this year. Having a full list of players to choose from makes a big difference. Dont tell me Craig that your like every commentator this country and is prepared to kick a team in the guts even though they are doing well this year compared to last year. Wouldn't you hate it if next year North started to do well next year after a bad year and everyone bags them when they are winning by at least 6 goals??? Western bulldogs are in the top 4 and we beat them by 34 points. West coast only beat us by 14 points. Or are just like everyone and love to hate Collingwood????

Time to give credit where its due if a team is winning and convincingly admit it .
Sick of the collingwood bashing !!!!!
We are a force this year so look out
How many games do we have to win by 6 goals before people stand up and notice.
Yes any team can win a game -- you can only judge a team against the opposition of that game.
Geelong werent doing that badly until they played us.

Firstly, I never Collingwood bashed in my original post...

I think that Tarrent is a big part of the overall structure. History has suggested that Collingwood play well when Tarrent and Rocca appear in the team together. History also suggests that they stuggle when they are missing.

Someone will need to step up and provide the linkage around the half forward line this week. That is what Tarrent specialises at. He isn't the teams only goal kicker. If he was, Collingwood would struggle week in week out. They have a number of avenues to goal, but I think having Tarrent lead out to the wing, then pump the ball in the Rocca direction plays a large role in this.

Both Tarrent and Rocca contest hard, bringing the ball to ground for the Burns, Licuria's, Swans, Buckleys etc to swoop getting the ball to the next contest.

In addition to this Tarrent and Rocca draw defenders, allowing players like Caracella and Fraser to either take easy possession or contest against players of less ability.

Collingwood are flying at the moment, but they probably would have been flying the last couple of seasons had Tarrent and Rocca been regulars on field.

Tarrents suspension will tighten this game up. Brisbane would have struggled to match up on Tarrent (as most clubs do), as most defenders dislike chasing to the wing (which Tarrent loves - and its suits Collingwood to a tee!!)

I'm interested in seeing what gameplan Malthouse adopts this week. I hope he pinch hits someone in a Tarrent role. (Possibly Dane Swan?)

I have still tipped Collingwood in this game. I wonder who will be given first chance at Brown!

Fair comments craig!! Just a bit sick of everyone bagging us when for the first time in a few years we have something to cheer about!!!
i just hope we can play just as good against the better side in the competition and make a name for ourselves this year at least.
