Firstly I would like to thank Rob for his very kind gesture. Matthew bowled extremely well all weekend and considering his age (15) HE LISTENED to all advice given to him by his captain and manager without question. He and Scott will be a part of tenpin bowling in the future. I surely hope Sale reopens rather sooner than later for there benefit, two hours drive from Bairnsdale to Morwell is very difficult every week not only time but the cost of fuel.
A very big thankyou to OTB for firstly donating the balls.
I would like to thank all the staff at Ballarat for a very well run Ccup.
(I wonder if the Roulettes from Sale could drop a bomb on that ball return for you;) )
And now as for the Sale Mens team thankyou for a great effort all weekend and that last game. I'm sure it will be remembered for a long time.
Well done to Shepparton, the ladies dominated and the men made it over the line first when it counted.
Thankyou to all bowlers who made for a very enjoyable weekend.
Maybe soon when the relocation of Sale Bowl is done we may have a team strong enough to one day dominate Ccup;). I would love to be around to see it:p

Well where do i start apart from what a BLOODY brilliant weekend. First off id like to say well done to my team mates over the weekend. Both men and women busted their guts over the weekend and thats all i could ask for of them.

Sunraysia women you gals did so well and you should hold your head up high. You bowled well as a team. Next year is your turn. Sensational effort.

Sunraysia men im so proud of the way you guys went about the weekend. We tried our heart out and to get so close i know it will be hurting which will make us hungrier next year. Top effort

Chucky what can i say mate. So close. It hurts more now than it did then. It will make us stronger. Thanks for everything you have done for us and without you we would not of been able to do what we did. Just your presence and knowledge of the game is priceless. Thanks Champ.

Congratulations to Shep on taking a clean sweep on everything over the weekend. Well deserved. You guys were unbeleivable all weekend.

Deano's top 5 moments of the weekend.

5) Giving Hammer the spanking he deserved while ordering his meal at Macca's. The look on the staffs face was priceless.
4) Hammer going over with the shoecover on. Classic.
3) Watching Jason Way absolutley destroy everyone in his way. All class.
2) Rob giving the bowling ball away. A great gesture by a great man.
Equal 1) Beating Shep 7 - 0. I no it means nothing now but at the time was one of the greatest team wins i have been apart of.
Equal 1) Watching Rob Garioch bowl all weekend. Was great to watch you bowl so well. Was the best bit of team bowling i have ever seen. Words cant describe how well you bowled.

Also thank you to all the staff and helpers at Ballarat Bowl.

Also thank you Dave for you support of the C/Cup with your awards for the MVP.

And finally a special thanks for all the players, coaches and spectators that make C/Cup what it is, which is the best tournament going around.

Deano

Wow what a fantastic finish to ‘the’ best team tournie known to man.

Wayne said to me Monday morning that it will go down to the final ball in the last frame of the last game – and he was right.

The feelings during the last half of that final game are unable to be put into words, but the outcome was what those guys have been trying to do for 26 years. And after many a close contest it was finally achieved.

So congrats to Kev, Chris, Pete, Spank, Timmy, Kerre and Rowie on the tournament of your lives!! A special occasion you will never forget. Oh and to Wayne for putting on that pink shirt and listening to their crap all weekend lol

To my team mates, thank you for making that the best team I have ever bowled in from start to finish. It was an enjoyable pleasure to be supported by these wonderful ladies. We were able to achieve the ultimate for the second year running, and at the same time as the guys – something I will never forget and always treasure.

To all the other teams thanks for competing to the highest of your abilities at all times, it’s never easy against anyone. Every team is beatable at any time.

Congrats to the all star teams, Lisa, Alicia, Selina, Dean, Ray, Rob and Jason – you all performed well all weekend.

To Kelly and Chris well done it’s nice to see you guys matching it with some of the very best in country Victoria.

A special congrats to Sammy who made her first All Stars team. Well done Cuz. You were a great leader to follow all weekend!! Love ya.

To the MVP award winners congrats to each of you, and to Rob – Wow – what a fantastic gesture from one the very best team orientated bowlers and a huge supporter of tenpin bowling and ‘junior’ tenpin bowling.

And finally thanks goes to the Ballarat bowl, Marie, Shannon, committee and staff (front and back) on a fantastic tournament. Hope you get that mic fixed Marie, don’t want you getting RSI!!

Can’t wait for next year – although not sure where I’ll be!!

Some fantastic memories from this weekend a lot mentioned already. Congrats to anyone and everyone who makes Country Cup what it is each and every year.

As a suggestion i think that the idea would be for the men to bowl the first round (currently 11 games) at Albury and the women bowl the first round at Wodonga then for the second round (next 11 games) they swap centres - Men at Wodonga and women at Albury - this would enable a reasonable finishing time and neither centre is disadvantaged financially as they hold it twice this way in the 11 year cycle. (they hold it this way when it is both alubury and then wodongas turn) For one of the events Albury could organise the dinner/dance and Wodonga the other - That would make it 4 years out of every 11 where everyone bowls at the same time.

Hmmm this is an "ok" suggestion because yes I know its a long sleep deprived weekend and everyone has to worry about the cost of an extra day accommodation and an extra day off work and all that stuff. But after being involved in one of the closest mens competitions in a long time I would really like to see if we can eclipse the efforts that we saw over the weekend. The last thing we'd want is everyone complaining after the end of the tournament when things didn't go there way because they had to bowl in drastically different conditions each day.

Thats something that "everyone" would have to agree on if there were any chance of that happening - would you rather end it a day earlier and have better rest over the weekend or would you want the best team tournament in Victoria to be as consistent all weekend long as possible.

Everyone is welcome to there opinion I suppose but myself I would rather consistency.

Whilst I think that thi is a good idea, there would also be an issue with people running back and forward from centre to centre, then on the Monday, having either the men or the women go from one to the other for the presetnation.

HEy Guys what a weekend :D

THis would have to be one if the greatest feelings ever it is undescribeable and the smile will be on my face for quite sometime :)

Geez where to start ,thanks to my team mates Chris,Pete,Terry,Tim T,Tim P,PAul whom without this would not have been possible

A HUge Thankyou to the Supercoach Wayne PArlby Your Knowledge,Insight and forthought was invaluable......... you got us there mate

Congrats to our women who showed there strength in winning again

Congrats to CHris Kelly And Sammy for making all stars your worth should never be questioned

A special mention to Pete Emmett to come in for the first time for us and to perform so well under great preesure was fantastic mate thankyou

And a special mention for you Craig, your continuall Stirring TAlking And Pressure brought us together as a team and gave us the will to "Never Give IN"

My Moments to Remember
:CHris Sparing a single pin for us to win the mens division
:Loosing to Sunraysia 0-7 in the first round.....Something I wont Forget
:Listening to Warrnabool calling us gutless for 5 mins for not playing Timmy against them in round 2
:After that 5 mins wayne and I thinking that plan worked exceptionally well did'nt it
:Being Presented The Winning Mens Team Trophy
:Rob Donating HIs MVP Player BAll to MAtty from sale, who said this sport is losing its INTEGRITY

There were a few lighter moments amongst the battles

CHris forgetting to take his shoe cover off on the first ball only chris would do that.......he was told every game there after to take it off and at one stage he even had oppisition spectators reminding him

Deano's slap on chris's arse at Mcdonalds it was heard out in the street I some how get the feeling that deano is Chris's new Porto All he needs is a picture ;)

Woza's new look no hair and no body took me two looks to realise who it was

Woza's 5-7-10 and the timing was perfect it took chandlers attention away from hanging it on me

CHris trying to pick up woody at the restaurant taking off his shoes and rubbing his feet hmmmm and them dumping him straight away when the sale boys mentioned rhonda could be around..........poor chris did'nt know he was dumping woody for a rubber blow up doll

Giving Chandler a good hip and shoulder as he walked in the front doors straight into the arms of Rowie they took awhile to separate and there was definetly a connection when ther eyes met

And to finish this tournement is made so great by the people that bowl in it we make new friends and renew old aquaintences we battle hard and party the same everyone deserves a pat on the back for making it what it is everyone be proud of what you acheive and most of all dont let it change

Sincerely
Kevin Wilkins

I will try and some up a few things
Everyones giving Shepp a Big Congrats so i will give them only a little one then!:D All has been said already so well done to all.
Was great to have the Country Cup Maffia catch up at our motel Monday night and we all have the same idea for the future country cups which is......... BRING BACK THE BIFF! To Webby thanks for being a great sport and hope seniors treats you well! To the rest of the team, Tough weekend on and off the lanes what with getting my stuff out of the pool, freezer other peoples cars, looking for my phone clothes and shoes all bloody weekend!!!! Very funny guys, verry funny, I did bring most of it upon myself though ;) Dean, Ray, Rob and the others in the Sunny team, It only makes it greater when you do win which i believe you will, sooner rather than later.
And to Rob, man what your gesture has done to our game cannot ever be overlooked, I dont think you may have realised at the time but you have reaffirmed to everyone in the sport that does know you, and show those who dont why you are regarded as a great bowler and a great HUMAN ( which cant be said about a lot of people). Highlight of the weekend!
Good luck Griffo with the soon to be arriving package!
See ya soon Chuckles
Motta

A special thanks to Liz from Sale, A joy to bowl against a high sportsmanship which is great to see!! :)
Kim Mattei.
:D

I guess firstly I have to say "Thank You" to Kim for the kind words.

Congratulations to Shep for the clean sweep. Great result. However my heart goes out to Sunraysia men. Whilst nobody could have written a better script for the last game, I know that a few of the Sale men did feel a bit of empathy at the end. But you guys are tough and as said before, this WILL only make you tougher and hungrier.

A big thank you to Marie, Shannon and the rest of the staff. You all did a great job and was greatly appreciated.

To Peter and Aline and the rest of the committee - also a big thank you for the hours put in to running the event.

Thanks also to the sponsors. It's great to see that in this day and age, people are still willing to put their hands in their pockets.

A special thank you to the men's manager, David Groves. He has never been involved in an event like this and came in with no knowledge of what was required or expected of him. You did great!!

Liz

It just got too much for some people....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I lost count of how many times craig kept asking where his pen had gone

Some other lighter moments i'll remember..
Rob giving us wrong directions on purpose... adding atleast 50kms to our trip.. then during that detour deans call to go to birchip instead of donald at an intersection.... got to birchip.. then had to head back through donald :frusty2: adding further to our detour lol

Rob telling me to focus.. indicating with his hands like horse blinkers.. focus travis, focus.. Got up and took out only the 6 pin and the 9 pin of the full deck.. luckily i spared it.. im glad chandler wasnt there to see it.. but certain peoiple made sure he knew about it lol thanks alicia and gary

Woza's 5-7-10 as mentioned before(and will be often).. GOLD

Hamma's interpretation of my tattoo that he wrote down my arm

Many other funny moments, some that cant be repeated on here though :p

Good times shared by all!

I think most of the notable moments from the weekend have been covered, however I have another to add to the growing list!

Woody and Paul were getting fed up with Geelong using the Ballarat sides room to store their bowling balls, in particular Captain Campbell. Soon fixed him, filled his thumb holes up with lollies after the completion of play on Saturday night. Paul wasnt to be seen on Monday, rumour has it he was bitten by a rare species of "Allens" Snake on the right thumb. :) Hope all is well Paul :)

I'll also make special mention to the "Griffo Glare"! It took me a few frames to work out if he was for real haha. Certainly something i won forget, even if it wasn't effective ;)

Well done to Shepp on a deserved win, and a memorable finish in the mens division.

It was a pleasure to be involved in such an enjoyable teams event, and the sportsmanship displayed on the weekend was nothing short of outstanding. Country Cup assembles the friendliest bunch of bowlers and makes for a wonderful atmosphere, all weekend. And whilst everybody has their sites set firmly on the major prize, it's fantastic that everyone can get together for a friendly drink on the Monday night and reflect on what was and what will always be a memorable weekend of bowling.

Cant wait for next year...

Daniel
