Is Vern still coaching the Shield teams at chaddy?

Vern's always a prominent figure around chaddy bowl n hes pretty kool for an old guy..he said this yr that he doesn't wanna coach da chaddy junior shield team and soo far we don't exactly know wats happening with coaches and managers cos we r totally unorganised this yr ... but verns a sucker wen it comes to the junior bowlers cos hes realli supportive of the juniors cos hes been bowling for soo long so i wouldn't be suprised if u see him at junior shield this yr...that is if chaddy actually end up bowling....we still got 2 months soo chaddys just hoping everything turns out ok...totally sucks that chaddy bowl doesn't wanna support us in anyway even with some funding

Would suck if chaddy girls didn't have team but yes thats what happen when most of ur team ages out can't do much bout that or when u have people that don't look after there juniors i would say u contact warren stewart and see what he can do cause he will do something.. there u go and go Vern..

caz u should come and bowl for boronia, next year we will need a new bowler cause em ages outuppydog: chaddy should be more organised and bring juniors through. i know alot of centres will probably struggle for teams in the next few years. maybe u could draft from other centres or go around to some of the junior leagues and ask people if they want to bowl in it.

Drafting is always an idea caz! Box Hill's done it for the last couple of years.
Once again this year we have a couple young girls from frankston bowling with us. it should be good to give these girls a chance to bowl in sheild considering that there were too many girls that tried out for the frankston team. It gives them experiences so that in coming years they will be better able to represent their own centre!

Yeah totally aggree with the drafting moorabbin had a girl that just missed the Frankston team bowl with us last year and it works out really well.

well with one month to go till shield its getting pretty exciting. I reckon boronia guys have an awesome chance of winning it this year and the girls is really hard to pick a winner, but it should be a great weekend anyway.Good luck every body Natarsha

Just reading this thread for the first time and noticed the comment about Chaddy. It's sad to know that the lack of support is still missing there. I know when Gunther and I were involved in Junior Shield there, it was always a struggle. Chaddy always had some promising juniors that were neglected and most of them quit or moved onto other centres.

It's good to hear that Vern is still involved - as he always has loved working with the kids.

Junior Shields comming up and fortunately for chaddy their teams full and ready to go. Captains hav been chosen ( Caroline Chang.. dats me and Ryan Burton) we hav some younglings but hopefully the competition at frankstone is top notch...... anyone have any idea or oppinons on whos gonna make all stars this yr? or even win?
anyways see all da AMF centres there at frankstone on da 10th and 11th

ps. to da Victorian pressie shield team: this yr we all bowling for different AMF centres ( da ones dat bowl for an AMF centre) soo good luck to all and lets see which of our centres r victorious this yr but i hope everyone bowls the best they can and good luck to all

Hello again,

So looking forward to Junior Shield this year. Sunshine's last practice is next Sunday and we are getting our shirts and captains should be named.
I have decided that the boys top 4 teams in no particular order will be Boronia, Sunshine, Keon Park and Highpoint. Still undecided about the girls and for All Stars.

PS. Caz, all us Pres Shield bowlers will bowl our best and we will see who comes out on top. Good luck all.

Yes i ws 1 of those juniors thats was neglected but then vern came and helped me and then after Lee came that yr i bowled my 2nd and final yr at Chadstone Top All Star that yr then went on to Forest hill where i got welcomed into the team and where a team that bowled for fun and didn't care where we finished and then bowled my last yr there last and we finshed 3rd i think.
