Hi to all the Innisfail bowlers. Hope everyone's OK!

We've decided at our centre to raise funds to send to Innisfail to help with the recovery from Larry. How about other QLD centres doing the same and pass the hat around through Leagues (& socials) this week? Donate to your local Commonwealth Bank.

Georgie, John & everyone affected we're thinking of you.

Cheers
Lynne & all the Staff at Mackay Leisure Centre

Hi Lynn, we at Mt louisa Lanes will do the same thing, hope they didn't fare too badly, and to all the bowlers in Innisfail we wish you well and John and Georgina we are thinking of you. Judy ,Ken and staff

To John & Georgie and all the bowlers in the cyclone affected area, all our thoughts are with you. Best wishes for a speedy recovery from this disaster, hopefully both Innisfail and Atherton bowls have come through it ok.
Maybe the local centres could look at a benefit day or tournament to help out?

Leigh and Kay are thinking of you all and hoping that you are ok. Tried to ring John and Georgina but unfortunately that was not successful. Hope you can get back to normal really soon

Hi Everyone,

On behalf of Innisfail bowlers, thanks for your thoughts and best wishes and we hope to be able to send full rep teams to Townsville in June. We all appreciate your support and hope to catch up with you soon. Several Innisfail bowlers have had their houses damaged to varying degrees (some quite severely unfortunately), and certain areas of the town have been reconnected to mains power so hot showers are possible once again for some of us!

I have been in touch with John & Georgie in the last few days and they are hoping to have the bowling centre open as soon as possible - maybe in the next fortnight.

We are all trying to keep our spirits up, but knowing that we have everyone thinking of us in this hard time of ours, will keep us going and this crisis has made us stronger.

Hi everyone,
I've been trying to post a reply but I keep getting blocked out as "not logged in". I will add to this note if this one gets through.

Hello everyone,
Thank you to all our wonderful bowlers/friends, NQ and Australia wide centres, TBAQ, ABPA and suppliers for their many calls of support and assistance.
Our Cairns friends have kindly offered to assist with a working bee and contacting our bowlers for our re-opening. This is bowling cameraderie at its best. For those of you not sure of the distances here - Cairns is almost 90klms away!
We are still waiting for mains power and are managing the clean up thanks to Chubb Safety, Cairns, who through one of the Cairns bowlers Craig Whitby, loaned us their generator. Thanks guys. There is a fantastic bond between Innisfail and Cairns staff and bowlers. We consider ourselves very privileged.
We are in the queue for tradesmen. The sparkies will be here early this week, so they can make sure all electical equipment and machinery is ok before re-connecting us to mains power. So many people are FAR WORSE OFF than us - we just have to wait our turn.
Some people thought we lost our roof. The roofing iron and solar hot water system out around the back of the bowl actually belonged to an unfortunate neighbour a few houses down the road. All he has left are walls - no ceilings or roof. If you could walk among the devastation of our beautiful paradise, you would cry.
Thankfully our friends Michele and Lorraine kept an eye on the place while we were stuck up on the Tablelands. They ran the "mop & bucket patrol" to help minimise damage from the leaking roof.
We hope to be back up and running in 1-2 weeks, with a re-scheduled Innisfail Area Championships soon.
Sorry if this is a bit long and taken some time to post. We've been chopping a lot of fallen trees at the bowl, at home, at the neighbours, pulling out very wet & heavy carpets etc.
Thanks again for your good wishes
John & Georgina Wilk
