Country Cup 2006

Kev you are definitely NOT allowed to make any suggestions as to the mascot costume!! And don't go getting any suggestions off Rowie either!! :p

And Pete you don't want to experience the wrath of Paige either!! ;)

You're a brave girl Paige, does the uniformn include hair style?
Graeme

I guess the hair style is the least of my worries!!

As long as its nothing permanent or involves me cutting my hair!! And although I will be on holidays I don't want a colour that I then get stuck with because it won't come out!! :rainbowa:

Paige - I have a couple of suggestions but they would be too easy. You would only need to get them out of Thommo's wardrobe. I will have to keep thinking.

Gary all that work you did with the games vs all stars etc, was great but you only did the men! I know you guys don't care much, but I and a few other women who view the forum I'm sure would also like to see the womens results!!

Thanks I knew you would love to spend more time getting the data together its the least you could do after ganging up on little me to be a mascot!! Who's idea was this anyway!! I swear I said I could take photos and now Andrew is making me a costume. And you are having a suggestion box with voting and everything. Who would have thought you guys could create a monster like this.

I'm glad no one has suggested a ball or a pin, and Rhonda Rottenbox, Pete your dead next time I see you!!

There's one person I am worried about making suggestions, haven't heard boo out of him yet?!!

Gatsby,
Great work on getting the information together. Very impressed. Seems that there is no task that we can set you. I think after looking at it that you could almost name Andrew Craig the ALL TIME ALL STAR.

Ahhhhh Miss Paige,
The hair should be the least of your worries. I just decided that the hair shall remain untouched. After all you have a job dealing with customers. Would not be fair to send you back to work on the Tuesday with electric blue hair or something. Is this outfit to be worn all weekend, something to alert people to the fact that you are the "Official Press Photographer"?. I am tipping that the person that you are waiting to hear from is sitting there thinking, biding his time waiting to jump in at any moment with a suggestion or 6!!

Woza,
Everything shall remain tasteful, OUT THERE, but tasteful.

Cheers

Yes I believe that the person that everyone is waiting for is otherwise occupied.
He has made big predictions, Had the trophy engraved and most probably even organised the after party;)
But he aint no dill he will be checkin everything twice, three times to ensure that he doesnt end up with egg on his face.
And then Paige watch the suggestion come thick and fast.:D

Hope these are not from your own personal collection Rob;)
Obviously by running a bowl you have waaaaaaaay to much time on your hands.
And Paige you cant eliminate Rowie[-X - imagine what a man of his talents and creativity could suggest:shocked!:

It took quite a while to do the mens data, so i was going to give it a few days and let people digest that first - and then i will have a go at the womens data.

I think Woza may have first used the word "Mascot". As for Andrew making your costume - isn't he just returning the favour? -- what's it called - Karma... lol

When he does go boo - you might get a big fright at what he comes up with

You won't get any arguments from me on that score Carmers.

One thing to also consider (from a biased point of view) Neil Thompson has also made 7 all star teams and has been in the top 7 averages 11 times from 24 attempts - (Andrew has 13/25 in the top 10). He also has shown some longevity first team 1982 and most recent team 2004. He did not dominate like Andrew did through the 1990's but i think he also has a very impressive record.
A lot of bowlers have been successful over 3-5 years but these two have done it since the beginning.
I wonder who will be talking about in 10 years as the alltime CCup star?

You would also have to throw Merv in there with that lot.

To me (and I know that you dont have all the results) The all time CCup star would have to be the person with the greatest win/loss ratio over a minimum of say 7+cups because in the end whilst there have been alot of great individual performances it is all about winning the points.

Also there must be some big names that have made the Allstars but never ever won mens/ladies trophies.

Just like footballers who win brownlow but never ever win a premership

True - but to make it even more complicated you also need to know where bowlers win their points. As i said earlier in this thread, most of Merv's have been won either Leading or Anchor - the more difficult spots to win points in, whereas someone who always bowls 2,3,4 may have a higher percentage of wins in an easier position. Andrew Craig has won 57% (records not complete) bowling mostly on the bottom -- i wonder how many pinfalls he has won in that spot by having a big 10th frame - no way of knowing - but i will bet he has won a lot - without necessarily winning his point. This type of thing is so subjective and you could make an argument for a lot of bowlers being the best - it was difficult enough picking out a top ten without trying to pick a best one!

Womens results for those who think that i don't care.... lol

Pearl Watts - Shepparton - 4 years bowled 1984-1987 = 4 years allstars
Trish Beasley - Warrnambool - 8 times allstar
Lyn Plowright - Bendigo - 8 times allstar
Lisa Garioch - Sunraysia - 6 times allstar (6 of last 7 years - did not bowl 2003 in Colac)
Denise Taffe - Geelong - 5 time allstar
Viv Burl - Warrnambool - 5 times allstar
Kelly Jones - Shepparton - 4 teams in a row 2001-2004
Denece Jones - Shepparton - 4 teams in last 6 years

Averages attached
As Woza suggested it is probably not as accurate only picking bowlers based on selection in All stars, however there are not many of the higher averaging bowlers that have bowled in 5 or more that have not been an allstar at some stage (actually i might make that my next challenge.... lol)

Two more files to bore you with! -- one for Men and one for Women (to keep our official Photographer, mascot, bundy bear, cougar girl happy)
As per Woza's suggestion i have looked at %points for every player that has bowled more than 5 CCups in the years that i have details of points for. That is 14/25 years for men and 15/25 years for women. The two files give details of averages and % points for those years.

Thanks for the suggestions Rob, where did you get them from? There were 3 girls bowling last night in the skimpiest French Maid's ourfits I have ever seen. The thing that was covered the most was their feet in rental shoes.

Whats wrong with being dressed as a camera Miss Paige?

Where is Mr Chandler at anyways?

Great work once again Gatsby. Always impressive.

Thanks for putting that all together gary, I never realised how well I was bowling from year to year as I only worrie about what is going on in the CCup that I am bowling.

It's good to see that you keep woman stats too.:) :)

Rob I can assure you that I would not look any good in some of those outfits!! Haven't got the figure or the legs!!

As for looking like a camera taking photos, hmmm..... I can't think of a good reason but there must be one!!

And yes Gary you yet again have done an awesome job with your stats!!

Gary I guess your right I did dress Andrew up but we did consult and there were stipulations on what was created too. Karma from Carmers!! Thats terrible! Sorry peoples!
