Country Cup 2006

Gary

I have the Albury and Warrnambool team.

PM me with your email address and I will send them to you for updating of your list.

Still waiting for the others.

David

With the help of Mr 299, i have been able to add the Albury and Warrnambool teams to the list.

Warrnambool Men's is the strongest looking team in a while. Good to see the "Angry little man" is back :D

All we need now is Sunraysia and Sale to complete the "set"

Look out Griffo is back. Should be some happy hand clapping happening.

Just looking at the teams I predict this will be one of the closest Country Cups in both divisions for a few years.

I agree Rob - it will be interesting to see how Craig frames the odds

I think in the Men - shep will probably be favourites, but Bendigo, Warrnambool, Sunraysia (assuming they are at full strength) will all be suited by the conditions. Throw in Latrobe, Geelong and Albury who always seems to be in the top half and as you suggest it could be very close.

In the women's Geelong, Sunraysia and Shep fought it out last year and should be close again. Add to that Bendigo women who bowled very well at Emerson and Latrobe Valley - and i am probably missing other chances.

I for one am looking forward to March 11th

Not giving your team a chance Gatsby or are you trying to sneak under the radar since you guys are defending champs last time CCup was in Bendigo

I certainly do give our team a chance Woza. I just don't believe in self-promotion.

We will need to get a lot more out of bowlers 4,5,6 and 7 though. Our best 2-3 are always very consistent and up there in the top ten or twenty averages. Our problem has been lack of consistency in our bottom four. This leads to us losing too many of the close pinfalls - something you cannot afford to do if you want to win. The years we have been successful we have had at least 4 bowlers firing.

As for being defending champs at Bendigo, that is very true, but a lot of things happen over 10 years and i don't think being defending champs means a real lot. Lanes change, balls change, teams change. We also won in 1994 when we beat a Geelong team that had A Flynn, G Clark, R Smith, P Selakovic, D Carmichael, P Campbell and C Shultz - yet 10 years later at the same venue only managed 5th - with 5 members from the team the same as 10 yrs previous.

I would be disappointed if we are not in the top half and hopefully fighting it out for a win - but as you know - they are not easy to win.

Liz gave some insight into the Sale team earlier in the thread

Adam - Country Cup is at Bendigo next year so no reason for you not to turn up. :D
As mentioned earlier, Sale had their roll of on the weekend. All I can say is that I have no idea who is exactly in the team.

Some of the men are
Alan J Manners (jnr)
Mick Manners
Shannon Valentine (I believe)
Peter Siddle
and 2 others
No Mick Partridge, Gunther Czmok, not sure about Lyle Stanton

Some of the women are
Debbie Duncan
Leica Manners
Gaylene Manners
Maz Crowson
Michelle Crowson
and again 2 others
No Sandra and Belinda Howard, Liz Fabian-Czmok, Sharon Cuthill

I think I can save Craig some time here with the odds for Sale
Liz
Apparently Liz doesn't have too much faith in this team, whoever is in it. I wouldn't either without Gunther!

Mens will be tight and I will put my neck out and say that I reckon that it will go down to the last game on Monday
With the likes of
A couple of pink flamigos that can shoot 300's
A 299 from the home side
The sight of Griff and Way in the same team at Warrnambool
The two big fellas back into the Geelong side
and if Mr Craig can continue that form that he showed at Senior Shield
Yes she well and truly is much more than a one horse race.

I will find out the exact Sale team by next week to try to help complete the set.

Gary, the Sale colours are green, blue & yellow.

Ryan, if Grumpy read your post he would be flattered by your comment. However, he also knows that one person does not make a team. Sale could do well without him provided they had the right kind of team attitude. By that, I am not necessarily referring to this years team.

Liz

Now that Liz is finding out what is going on with Sale, the only team missing is Sunraysia. Are you gonna tells us Rob - or is it a big mysterious secret?

It will be interesting to see what Mr C has for us after his second trip to Bendigo. Just how intense are these training sessions? Does he have full commitment from every player? Should we be worried? These are just some of the questions that we all want to know.

Any news on the Sunraysia team yet Gatsby?

The Sunraysia Team will be revealed tomorrow night.

No secrets but maybe a couple of surprises on the lanes.

carmers I would say craig has our full commitment, 2 of our mens team now have a new ball.

Could someone from Bendigo please tell me the time and date of your next training session? I might just like to join in.
