Changes to Nationally ranked Tournaments

The only problem I see with this is the short time frame for nominations and also the wording with regards to refunds. I don't think there should be any question of whether the promoter gets all their money back just when they get it back.

Now as for only 8 events I think it is a step in the right direction but how they can manage to cater for all states and territories within the 8 is going to be a good test of the first implementation of this system.

This first up try to bring some sanity to the ranked events and rankings system is at least a positive move forward for our sport.

A nieve question....
Why must promotors pay $250 to lodge? Why can't they just pay it if their tournament is selected?

Sorry, that was 2 questions.

Dear TBA, you are administrators, stay out of telling people what to do with their oiling machine

Yea, cause everyone should be able to average 220 in nationally ranked tournaments. Maybe we should take out the corner pins so everyone can carry to?

You kids, you gotta lot to learn.........

If by that you mean learn how to bowl on conditions where we dont need to hit our target to get strikes, then we already have. What happened to challenging yourself on a condition? Us "kids" want to bowl on conditions which make us need to put in a good shot to be rewarded, not just anything right of the head pin.

Just dont get sucked into tying 'fairness' to scores. Ive seen too many(on and off the lanes!!) make that mistake. Good young uns like you and Ash arent the sort of guys that need condition help so you could hit 220 on near anything anyway. I still think let the backend boys sort the oil machine out though......

I have no problem with them offering a choice of patterns from a pool. As long as they take into consideration lane topography, climate, conditioner and type of lane machine being used. :D
Otherwise, prehaps a TBA representative can visit each centre with a list of patterns and a selection of bowlers to test and see how it plays. ;)

Hey here's one out of left field. If no one pays the nomination fees the tourney promoters could get together and do some rankings themselves :p

Wake up to yourself, Adrian. Australia needs to move forward with the rest of the world and TBA are working to do that.

Well im sure the promoters still know how to add up, just let them sort out who has how many points. At risk of sounding like a broken record here this is what they did in the late 80's to find 'bowler of the year' in Pin Action magazine, it was seperate from the ratings. 8 B.O.Y events and everything say over $800- $1000 for first making up the 'normal' rankings, sounds good to me. I'd just like people directly involved in running them to be in charge of this.

I think the issue of lane conditioning is an issue for all concerned
IF bowlers want to go overseas and have a chance to win something
then it is a must that someone, maybe TBA via the national Coach, gets involved
to put down conditions that will be faced overseas
It is a huge step up to represent your country overseas and actually perform then to bowl on a house pattern where you throw right somewhere and hit the pocket
I believe this is part of some measures to actually help NOT hinder
There will be more changes to come in order to get some credability into this sport

Sorry, but we arent in the 80's anymore, you need to consider things such as ball and equipment advances. Look at the last few tournaments bowled, scores just keep getting higher and higher, when will it end? In my opinion, if TBA does nothing about it, no one will.

Really??? Going from that we should be averaging 280 by now considering some of the scores from 20 yr ago. And getting the 'right' people to work out points has nothing to do with how many wizz-bang(then die in 100games!!) balls that come out. The TBA needs to worry about getting more members, not telling a couple hundred people what conditions they can bowl a major on.

And remember my point from before, if all styles of player on both sides have a pretty equal look then the lanes are 'fair' If the winner averages 199 or 245 that doesnt really matter. Any dum dum can slick up 10 to the gutter so a ball wont corner and that aint fair!!!!(and those people arent good lanemen)

TBA is also responsible for developing the pathways of elite bowlers in Australia, is it not? Because if I make a national team, and go to an international tournament, ill have 20 boards target, just like most tournaments I bowl here.

I dont think one part of the lane should be shut out, but if you reduce the ratios on oiling patterns a little, it would be a lot tuffer for everyone out there, and make it more about who has the skill to be consistant, no just who can carry.

If you are relying on tournaments to develop your skills as a bowler to international standards, you are doing it wrong.
