well at the moment my averages are:

199 on tuesday nights (5 man teams),
206 on thursday nights (4 man teams) and
199 on saturday mornings (5 game singles league).

Later  :p

well USABowler i don't have a clue. :) Tuesday night is a condition that i prefer and yet i am averaging lower.

I was sitting in 4th with a 200 average, and that was against bowlers of Hamo, George, Jonny Koalla, etc. All top bowlers. But since then i have bowled against the lower avg players and i am lowering myself. Getting complaicent. Last week i had to play vacant and beat my avg - 10 which equals 179. i got 2 points out of 10. :( games of (175, 173, 195, 169). And yet last night in my not serious league i bowl a 670 series (246, 213,211).

I think it is because i relax in my not so serios league. where i wory about the scratch singles. and that throws my game out the window.

But counting i have only bowled seriously for a year and 2 months, i still have alot to learn. And my mental game is one of them that i am slowly getting right.

For me i see the 20 pins difference in my ave (223, 203) down to a couple of things. 1. On the 223 ave shot, its a youth league not an open one, and with less money on the line, its more relaxed. 2. In the same league im having more fun, more juniors and generally scoring better, all fits into one nice package. and 3. the 223 ave shot is EASIER! i can have a good amount of room to hit at the arrows and still strike, or at least save me from a split or washout. Whereas the 203 ave is more serious, only another couple 100 bucks on the line, but the condition it slighty tougher. Where being a stroker it turn from being a strike fest on wed, to making all the spares and taking majority to keep yourself in the game on Thursday. Thats how i see my 20 pins difference.

Later Da Cowman!

Hey Mr usa bower .. umm jsut a question you prolly already answerd this or if you havent ya dun have to .... how old are ya? and how long you been bowling for???

just to show howbad i am bowling on tuesday night compared to monday. Monday i shot 670 over 3 games. Today i shot 674 over 4 games.

Well,
Considering the fact this sparks another converstaion within AVERAGES, i will say that HOW CAN U AVERAGE HIGH AND LOW? Its ok though, i knwo the feeling of bowlign inconsistent. AKA, my last tournament (Games=231-175-267-158-169) HAHA, have your laughs. lol. All good. Chucky, what wis wrogn with the lanes on those days?

Different centre's maybe? Conditions, Lane Surface? Even the difference between a new and an old league :) I used to be like that all the time, if i had a great week at one league, the other league i bombed :p Ohh well these things are meant to try us

Good bowling.

the scarry thing is its the same centre and slightly diff oil conditions.

Just could not hit my mark tonight where last night i was hitting it 9 out of 10 times...

Its all my mental game..

:)
Harley my man, you've said exactly what i want to say, but i got more to add. I have the pleasure of watching derek bowl in one of my leagues. On conditions you and i find easy (with a bit of oil) he stuggles, you know what Nerang are like. The nice 5 board area up the side, guess where he bowls it?????? I do not doubt the fact that bowling back to back 300s is an achievement as well as bowling 5 perfect games in 4 months is fantastic as well.

But for a kid that wants to bowl pro he has to get a mental game and learn to bowl on a little bit of oil. As you said you have been there done that and me too. Any attack on you would just be silly.

To Strazz, i have had the pleasure of watching you bowl, and you're not all that and a bag of chips. However you do throw an alright shot but you have a shocking attitude and the swearing has to be turned down. You cut that out of your game and you will be alright too.

Hmm for a topic named "averages" i think this has become much too personal in the form of attacks. I bowl with Strazz and Derek quite often and they are great people. The attack on Strazz's attitude was a bit rich i think...he's a great fella. Derek obviously has a lot of potential and so what if he struggles on a bit of oil?? He is 15!!! Give him time man he's got a lot to learn as I do, and all of us Juniors have. Give them credit for what they do well, because I have seen what they can do and it ain't half bad either.

Exactly

Exactly Timmee,
I totally agree with you on that. We all are too young to start arguing about how eacother bowls on different oil patterns. We have way too much to learn,. Im only 16 and people say for my time, i have a really really really big future if i choose the tour. I really dont care much about other peoples opinions because they dont bowl for me. They dont know what its like. I like the compliments but i do not take them to heart and boast all over the place about them and my accomplishments. You have to be who you are and achieve your own potential, not someone elses.

BTW, Jay, the kid is young. Give him time. If he only bowls on light oil patterns and has struggles with oil, he will get better on oil. Oil is alot easier to bowl on then dry conditions, beleive me. And for 15 years old, back to back 300's i never heard of. I would congrats the kid and then, instead of poking opinions, Work with him on a diffferent houses shot that has a bit more oil.

It isnt really dry conditions USAbowler, what jay (and harley) were getting at was a walled or blocked shot. You must know about them because it seemed to be a big problem over in your part of the world recently. I tend to find them distracting, there is no doubt that it isnt a high scoring pattern (the results speak for themselves), but we all need a bit of variety. Really, if you are shooting telephone numbers (this goes for everyone) at a center that has an easier condition (which in this case is pretty much pick an area outside of 5 and shoot) you are really lulling yourself into a false sense of security. When you hit the hard conditions where you have to play tighter lines and accuracy is the key (or even a day when carry is dead and ballspeed is important), you find out quick smart which part of your game is lacking. Ohh well, it's just another condition we have to master, on the day if you can do that better than anyone else, looks like you will come up trumps :D

Hey

Hey there Levi,
Our conditions are always walled. ABC does not sanction this type of pattern (American Bowling Congress), but they are stil lthrown out . I was jsut at a HUGE bowling tourney two sundays ago down in Lancaster (Big Amish Town) and the shot was walled. Very inconsistent pattern, but i managed to break 1000 even over 5 games :p Its ok though, we all know tough patterns! :? Me shooting block is simple, i have grown to become accustomed to many systems of block oiling, new system over here. They just make the backends so dry and the heads so wet your ball does flips that are God-like! lol. Its ok though, we have all managed to adjust. When i come Down under, i expect to have plenty of trouble at first, but i am great at adjusting (strong point of my game! :D ) And i plan to help peopel out if they need it. I liek to share my knowledge. All in a days work. Take care everyone.

Ahh so you know the conditions well then (i kinda suspected as much considering the averages you have been throwing). Things like this arent exactly new to the country, but they arent particulary common either. Places are starting to play around alittle with the big walled shots, but for the most part a great deal of bowlers still frown on the practise. I can see why too, they have every reason to, it can really take you right out of the game. Somebody who probably doesnt have the tallent to average 220+ can now do so effortlessly. It's really like bumper cars on some conditions

Heylo

Heylo everyone,
Yes Levi and Androo, i totally agree. My junior league shot is walled and i maintained a 200+ average at the age of 13, tahts how pathetic it is! Then, i grew up and changed to 3 different houses. I got new conditions, new surroundings, and new asses to kick! lol, j/p. Nah, it taught me alot abotu Guardian, Anvilane, and Wooden. I totally prefer Anvilane Synthetics due to less friction and more skid/snap time, better for me. Unless they are toally backwashed and flooded or not oiled at all, like my High School Bowling Team Home. The only erason I THINK they are throwing out the walled shot is to throw the bolwers off guard. They did that at my junior league this year. We all started off with 250+ averages for the first 7 weeks. Then the next 5-6 months, nuthin but dry lanes. Our averages dropped 40+ pins and it was hard, but it brought us back down to reality. Mean trick to play but it did the trick. I never saw this coming, but it shaped my game. They never chagned the shot back and it tookl a while to get used to. I started warming up and by the end of this fall-winter-spring league, i finished close to 214. :p :p :p All good. I mean they were TOTALLY dry, heads were slightly oiled and the mid-lane and end of lane were toally dead. Sad part was, they oiled it!!!!! haha. All good, i should ahve some fun down in Stralia.

BTW, if anyone can hel'p me and tel me more about what toexpect and stuff, i would be much appreciated. If you woudl like, contact me on MSN at Greerman123@htomail.com or AOL Instant Messenger at FizyLIFTINGDrnks. Take care everyone!

GOHAN OR HARLEY - what is your full name? Stop hiding behind your mum and tell us who exactly you are. I have nothing at all against what you have been saying, infact I agree with alot of it but when you make out to be some who you are not then you are doing a very wrong thing. The only Harley I know on the coast is Harley Travaskis and I know you are not him? You are also using his email so what's up with that? Please Explain!!!
