Australian Team Selection Men and Women

The injustice does not lie in those 6 bowlers WHO will represent our country. ALL of these guys deserve the chance and all have
in one way or another contributed to bowling
in this country.
But Frawls give us all a break. You say the
reserves dont matter. Then why bother announcing them in the first place. If it is a must then at least select the guys who truly deserve to be called reserves. If this
sport is to go forward then surely the reserves can believe that they are only a whisker away from the real thing. No wonder
guys like George, Colin and many others must
now be thinking they can never make the team
again simply because they could not even make
the reserves list.
Well done to all in the team. I do think in future though the selectors should dignify everyone with naming the reserves along the
lines of those who just missed out or dont name any at all.

Regards Agro.

well !!!!!!!!!!!

hasn't this forum drawn out some DICKHEADS

what is the credentials of some of these back seat drivers ?????????

REALLY ????????

changed my mind

wnt lower my standards to repsonse to some people

Especially those that wont sign their names to their words

Im pretty disgusted at some of the responses from people in regarding the Australian team selection. What a pathetic place to express your opinion about possibly one of Australia's strongest teams in years. I imagine some of the so called "experts" wouldnt dare say anything like what they have on here in front of the faces of the people they enjoy attacking.

I cant really speak for the women, but all 6 of the members of the adult team justify their entry into this team.

How dare anyone criticise the selectors. Scathing personal attacks on anyone, regardless of their position in Australian bowling will not be tolerated on this forum. I dare not want to be in those guys shoes, there are so many guys knocking on the door of the FIQ team, that it would of been very hard to choose the remaining 3 spots of the mens team.

The only comment I shall make on this topic is as follows:

Congratulations to the people that made the FIQ team, and best of luck in Hong Kong.

Thank you

Andrew Phillips

My 2 cents worth to those who disagree with the selection process.

I picked 5 out of the 6 players who were selected for the 2 teams. Guess that means I reckon they did a good job and anyone who doesn't think Paul Trotter doesnt belong in an Australian FIQ uniform obviously haven't studied his performances over the years.

Yes, he was one of the players I did pick

Seriously George!, does it matter how old your Ball Is?

Yes it does, if it didn't the pro's would be using balls from 1997 as well. Technology evolves by the day, the newer stuff is better and hits harder. Did you know Cara drilled up 3 balls after day 2 of qualifying??? I wonder why??? I can guarentee they weren't 1997 releases.

Yes it makes a difference..........

well thats a bit harsh on a few counts!!, congrats to the people who made the mens fiq team this year, which Riley was referred to if its Ash Riley....have a look at the preformances, dont think he missed a 16cut at any of the super 6 events in 2001...plus made cut at sa cup 2002, and has won numerous medals in Fiq, So qbert just get over it!, nuthen can be done about it!, im sure the team will do well, and hopefully bring home the gold!!

Firstly I wanna say congratulations to all Australian Representatives and good luck...

Secondly, Im sure I saw Paul using a Trauma on the weekend.... When was that released??

Id would love to congratulate the 2002 members of the FIQ Australian team, both mens and womens teams.

All those posting on here just think what you write before you go and put fingers to keys.

Think about how this may effect you in the long run and others. By this i mean, bitching and backstabbing may result in you being overlooked by selectors for future teams not only FIQ ones. In a team situation who wants people there bitching, backstabbing, stirring other players who are actually there to bowl for their country, state, city or centre.

Selectors of any team i commend you on your work.

Also i would just like to refer you back to a post graham made in the junior forum about slandering a bowler and the consequences of that.

Once again good luck and congrats to those members.

Take care
Kim Barry

I totally agree with you Qbert. How can anyone justify the selection of some of those who made the mens team last weekend. If part of the criteria is being an ambassador for this country then you would have to question the attitude of at least 2 of the selected bowlers.
I think all 3 bowlers who performed on the weekend have the right to be there. They did all that was asked of them. It would appear in hindsight that maybe the selectors had the teams makeup planned well in advance and what better way to slip a bowler (who doesnt deserve to be there) back into the team through the backdoor.
Maybe oneday the selection criteria for ALL available spots will be put up for grabs via the system QBert mentioned. At least that way
those bowlers who are dedicated enough to spend their time and hard earned cash bowling
around Australia in tournaments will get a fair go.
In the meantime perhaps we should all think about moving to the Eastern States. Seems if the postcode dont fit you got no show. That
is unless you are well connected.
Sorry guys. I think bowling in this country took a huge step backwards last weekend and delivered a kick in the guts to all those guys who thought getting selected in the National team was done on ones merits. Maybe that lottery idea isnt such a bad idea after all.

Keep em rolling
Agro.

Congratulations to all on making the Australian Team. There's really been some very interesting "FREE SPEECH" flying across the forum, but really haven't we all forgotten about the big picture here.
We want our sport to become bigger and better,so we need results in Hong Kong.
C'mon people whatever gripes you have lock them away and get behind the men and women of "OUR AUSSIE TEAMS" because we need to keep going forward not backwards!

I totally agree with Kim... well said

The sad fact is that whenever selection is involved, there is going to be people unhappy. I think you should all cop it on the chin and get behind the teams.

One point I must make is in regard to the selectors, I cannot speak for the others but in Brett Riley's defence, he does travel to a quite a few tournaments a year, all self-funded and travels as often as work commitments allow. They all do the best job they can... it can't be easy.

And no, I am not trying to brown nose my way into a team! lol.

Without giving Tony a big head .. this is the email he sent me on Saturday morning ...

Mate Billy G,Mr flynn & Belmo r the points guys add Frawls, Paul trotter and Micheal Muir as the selected and there u have it? And if ur interested the winner of the Aus Open will be none other than the great Cara Honeychurch.

NICE WORK HAMO !!

not diggin ya george, but in regards to the gear comment, gees you coming from queensland, should know how physically demanding it is, to even try pulling out the latest gear from your bag.

mid matchplay at redcliff we met, and i was sporting a highly polished turbo x and still wanting to turn back the clock.

and in regards to your selection, you'll get there one day, hard work is always rewarded in the end, just ask billy

Congrats to all,

I wish to add my good wishes to those who will represent us.

My thoughts were they may take one left hander away just in case that side of the lane is decidely better.

That being said I would wimp out on who to omit and take 7. The gentlemen selected are in my opinion thoroughly deserved of this honour.

I agree with frawls earlier comment that at this moment he is at the absolute top of his game and I have never seen him look better or seem more confident. Paul is as consistent as they come and add a couple of pretty big wins deserves the chance and as for Michael does anybody remember a couple of tiny events last year called the Melbourne Cup and South Pacific Classic. Now who won them?

Good Luck OS and regardless of the final result I know you will have all given your all and no one else would have been able to perform better.

Well George after reading your comments about paul using outdate equipment.....a bit unfair....nothing wrong with older equipment...it still comes back to the bowler...plus these days some of the new equipment actually makes some bowlers look good.!!! But thats another story...
as for craig...is it who said...well !!!!!!!!!!!

"hasn't this forum drawn out some DICKHEADS

REALLY ????????"

Well craig...probably just as enough credentials as some of our selectors we have in this country.!!! but that too is another story.....
Well done to all who made the team...I'm sure that they will be out there giving it their best....and good to see both you, andrew and sue making the team at the same time......What can I say!!!

I believe that as Trots was bowling with 4 year old equipment that it just goes to prove how impressive his recent performances and selection have been.

He's obviously using his talent to score rather than the new equipment every couple of months that some others can not forego.

Trots hasn't got a ball sponsor. It's probably just as well as he'd then be taking more $$$s from you guys.
