Would you be honest enough to.....

ok you want to relate it back to bowling, what about the foul line?
The buzzer goes off, a foul is registered, but you are dead set certain you have not fouled.
Unfortunately, you forgot to hold your position and have now walked to the back of the approach.
What do you do next?

I had this situation a couple of months ago actually Andrew S. I was bowling in a tournament and the foul thing kept going off. However, the buzzer was NOT going off and the score was putting a foul down (on strikes I might add). Now I know they were definately not fouls i was landing my front foot a good 5-8 cm behind the fould line that day all day.

We queried it with the tournament official and the fouls were taken away because people saw the incident, and where my foot was. Bowlers should not be penalised for the inaccuracy of machines. In that case it would have cost me my score of 207 that game. It happened about three times on those lanes during the day (not all to me but two of them). The foul register was found to have something wrong with it causing it to go off prematurely sometimes.

If a bowler knows they fouled and they know it's wrong (as most would) and it HASN'T registered and they don't change it to a foul...then that is wrong.

but Timmee fouls rarley occur if you are a tournament bowler and the foul registrar usually always goes off early or when ever something triggers it off but I would hold my release stance til the all clear is given :!:

Yeah thats fair enough but that would have meant staying as I was every single ball because the buzzer wasn't going off, it was only recording it on the scoreboard.

Ashmore Bowl. I must add that I have nothing against Ashmore Bowl, I think it is a fantastic bowl and I love it, but that day they had some problems with the lanes.

oooh, this has happened to me up in rocky this year....stoopid rocky lanes. i was about a foot away from it and it went off, the other team saw that i didnt foul, but the spectators were argueeing. it went off again the next time, not a foul as usual. and then to prove the spectators wrong, no one even bowled on the lane and they went off. pfft. no offence rocky bowlers, but i so dont like those lanes.

Happened to me today, had the first 5, bowled, slipped a little bit, kinda lost balance, i had NO IDEA where my feet wear going, the ball struck but the foul light went of, i couldnt hold my position due the shit balance i had for that shot. What did i do? turned around walked back, got the score changed and spared. Rules are Rules...
Which brings me to another point. Today, same Tourny. This time i wasnt involved... directly. Anyway, a guy bowled, ten pin stood proud, two pins were rolling over, hit the ten just as the machine started to come down. The pin looked like falling, BUT, and thats a big BUT! the machine hit the pin. After a short while a Strike was awarded. I was always under the impression that if the Machine hit the pin at anytime, regardless of if it was falling or not, the PIN MUST BE RESTOOD. can anyone clear this up for me or even better tell me where i can find a copy of the rule book for bowling (preferably online) for to look at

Thanks Da Cowman!

Got this rule from a LEVEL 1 COACH EDUCATION PARTICIPANT"S GUIDE, (developed by TBA in 2001/02) hope this clears things up for u cowman:

2. When a ball rebounds from the rear cushion
3. When pins come in contact with the body, arms or legs of a pin setter and rebound.
4. A standing pin which falls upon removing dead wood or which is knocked down by a human pin setter or touched by a mechanical pin setting equipment will not count and must be replaced on the pin spot inscribed on the pin deck where it originally stood before delivery of the ball.
5. Pins which are bowled off the lane, rebound and remain standing on the lane must be counted as pins standing.
6. If in delivering the ball a foul is committed, any pins knocked down by such delivery will not be counted.
