Worst thing happened to you during Tournaments..mine someone stole my spare ball :(

I had a 15 or 16lb ball dropped on my foot from a foot above chair height at the 1997 Junior Dunn Shield at Sunshine, before my 7th game (in the 10th game). Then to add salt to the wound I was given 5 mins, by the tourny director, with a couple of crushed toes to compose myself and bowl a full game, or my team (Keon Park) were gonna be disqualified.
The most painful experience I have ever had with bowling, but that being said I can laugh about it now.
Also noteworthy (although not in a tournament) I broke my left thumb bowling and I am a right hander, so that was also pretty bad.

Ouch jackool did ya know u can take legal action on that bowler
How did ya broke ur left thumb if u r a right hander

During the 1998 Walter De Veer tryouts I had in total 5 epileptic seizures, 2 while I'll was on the lane and 3 in the managers office. The worst thing however was at the time I was placed 3rd and had to pull out with only 2 games to go.

Worst thing that happened to me years ago was while I was bowling in the Junior State Championships during my singles entry.
I had this six year old boy struggling to keep his ball on the lane and was crying his eyes out because he was bowling so bad. My dad (who is a coach) went down to help him and the boy's mum was so happy that someone was helping. The tournament director wasn't happy about that and told my dad to leave the boy alone and if he refused to leave the area, I would be disqualified from the tournament.
My dad couldn't even watch me finish bowling so before he left, he gave me instructions on how to help the boy and the boy ended the game with about 110.
That's the worst that happened to me.

That reminds me of my first year in Dunn Shield.. evertime i went up to bowl there was this lady in the crowd she will do anything to put me off.I bowled a 220 game and gave her da smile  :D

junior shield (bowling for Keon Park) last year was right in the middle of my schoolies week and i'd gone down to torquay, so i was extremely sunburnt for the whole weekend. everytime i moved it hurt. yet i still bowled. you don't have time to feel pain in junior shield. it's just so chaotic lol

ps jacko, i remember hearing about your foot. that's pretty nasty. top effort to keep bowling. go parkers!!

... and what a job you did. We may not have won the boys division, but we gave it a big shake! (More then anyone else expected!)

A couple of years ago in 2002 Rachuig Trials at Mentone had my hand jammed between two balls (like a cannon shot in snooker) by placing it in the wrong spot when trying to move balls back on the ball return. Yes on my bowling hand too and on day one of the first weekend.

The middle finger copped the brunt of the blow and as I had a game or two to go, of course I kept bowling ending up with a 190 odd game though I almost couldn't get it inside my finger hole. That night at the Monash Medical centre was informed my finger was crushed (the bone) and thus had to be splinted. I had to pull out of trials the next morning.

The most painful split second in my bowling career.

Jacko, yes good effort to keep bowling, however just shows how we bowlers don't think of the consequences until afterwards. I was told by continuing bowling I was lucky not to have done some permanent damage to my tendons in that finger. Much wiser now however I probably still would keep bowling if it happened again tommorrow.

1. Entering NSW Open without a pair of pants that fit you. Lets just say, that despite how big Billy Gardiner was, his pants just didnt quite fit me. The white socks didnt help either
2. Returning home from Thailand minus 2 bowlings balls :( I did get them back in the end, but boy was it challenging trying to talk to non english speaking people.

hit the roof at moorabbin

it went straight up and straight down, distance covered, about a metre

OOPS

Did that twice myself last yr Craig, once at Emerson shield final and once the next week at leauge play, i was trying zero pitch in a few thumbholes to see how it went, needless to say, back to my normal pitches quick smart! Averaging 159 at 1997 venuto cup(cut was about 202av) was mortifying!!!! never been caught short of equipment since then, last time i take 2 balls to a tournament!!!!

ps

Perhaps one our friendly admins can remind everyone of milkys "MJ" impersonation, SHAMONE!! :D

Hey Jacko

I remember hearing all about your foot, and still to this day i can't believed you bowled. amazing.

Also message for DaProBowler  - Well since about March or even earlier this year there have been alot and I mean alot of 300's being bowled at Keon Park, and alot of good games also.

A friend of mine Glen Loader just bowled a 300 and a 800 series on Thursday night, great guy and amazing effort since moving to Melbourne from sydney a while ago... :D

Well lets see how many 300 games will be bowled @Dunn Shields this year Chantal \\:D/ Better order "TRUCK" full of watches n cash :D

1. Just after shoe covers became the big thing, I put mine on between games, then when it came time to start again, I forgot to take them off and did a face plant just missing the gutter.

2. Went all the way up to Bendigo to bowl in champs and the second ball of practice I got up, went through the approach then during the slide I split the in seem of my pants, lucky for me I had a spare pair in the car.

3. During Country Cup at Shepparton we had a couple of bowling balls stolen on our games off, we noticed when we got back to start our squad. Thing was though, they took bowling balls that weren't even being used. Made no difference to the game at all.

4. During Country Cup at Colac, David was impersonating the Wild Turkey ad and stamped his foot and nearly went through the floor.

5. Same Country Cup, we convinced a young guy from Sale that the reason I got the movement on my bowling ball was due to the fact that between shots we wiped the track area with the eraser from the telescore. Only thing was that we were wiping the track of a bowling ball that was a different color.

6. Bowling 273. Enough said.

Thats about all that I can think of at the minute, I will write more as they come to mind. Hopefully you can get a laugh out of them.

Cheers.
