You haven't got a clue so shut your pie-hole. Better yet..put some money up and take me on.

Just reading all the posts just then. They are just the words i would expect to hear from you Wayne. This is what bowling dosen't want. You say we need to improve on things to get people bowling again but you pretty much saying that if you get the chance to represent your centre to not try especially if its qualifying because there is nothing in it. Dont the young kids especially the ones that will be bowling emerson want to see the positives especially from a bowler that has been there done that. Yes you have been successful but you have proven nothing to me and probably alot of others out here in Australia other than most of your opinions are bad for bowling. There may not be all the lights and cash to make you want to try but thats the difference from Aussies to Yanks we play for the game not for the $$$$$$$.

Have a nice day.:)

Where did I say I wouldn't try. I try my hardest to win each and every time I shoe up and the Emerson Zone finals will be no different. Better read my posts again deano

If I were only in it for the money, I certainly wouldn't be bowling in a 'country' teams competition now would I?

Well is this your first country teams competition? If it isnt wellyou havent bowled many. You told Trav to shut his pie hole and then ask him to put his money where his mouth is. Your money isnt worth it with your attitude. I know id have more satisfaction just beating you head to head in a tournament.

Oh well we my as well say it. Your correct all the time Wayne and the 200000 other people on here are no good and wrong all the time. Does that make you feel better.?

Sorry that you're not bowling Deano..or Rob for that matter. I would've cherished the opportuinity to bowl against you guys. it's competition I crave..not money, not back-slapping..JUST GOOD TOUGH COMPETITION. and I thought I was going to get it in the team competition, but now it looks like many of the better bowlers aren't going to be competing...oh well, there's always my nemesis Tonx.

And Deano....I've been wrong far to many times to recount. but you know what, as long as you learn something from it, being wrong isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I'm a little surprised that no-one has stated the obvious yet.

Wayne is right......

There is no incentive to win the Northern zone (or southern zone for that matter) .... However - that is not the idea of the zone finals. The zone finals are held to ensure the best ten men's and best ten women's teams make the final (hopefully!) Your position in the zone final is irrelevant - you just need to qualify for the highly competitive November final.

As for where does the money go... i can't answer that but i would guess that some of it goes toward the State final. It is $350 per team for 8,9,10 games in the zone final and it is the same (I think!) for the 18 game State final. The state final also includes monetary high game awards.

I would liken it to masters qualifying. You pay extra prize fund during qualifying that goes into the pool for the final and your masters qualifying position does not matter - it is all about qualifying for the final.

As for positional being 1 vs 8 etc. This is not a true positional round as we know it. However the format of the zone finals are different to what we are used to in other events. Last year we had an event (repechage i think) where the last game was positional 1v2, 3v4 etc. Unfortunately the format was such that top 4 teams went through. This meant that team 5 (playing lowly team 6) had a big advantage over team 4 (playing team 3) in the last game. As a result it was decided that positional rounds in the future would favour the higher placed teams. Hence 1 vs 8 etc. The positional round is basically only used to increase the total number of games - to make it more worthwhile to bowl. Remembering you could travel to Mildura and only get to bowl 3 games in a 7 round draw. At least in an 8 round draw you could get a minimum of 4. Small difference i know, but that is why the positional is there.

Thank you Gary for that explanation..sems like getting a straight answer is almost impossible on here. I appreciate your response and want to thank you for taking the time to provide some answers to my questions.

Maybe here is not the place for the straight answers.

I gave you Ray's email address and am sure you will get the answers to your questions in detail from him.

From the last time that I bowled Emerson what you are saying Gary is correct. The surpless money from your zone final entry fee props up the state final prize fund (I dont know if it is still the case but goldpin fixed the lineage to a nominal figure per game ie centres if they wanted to host a final (zone or state) that was the lineage figure that they had to accept. There are cash awards for every high game (mens/ladies) at state final, medallions for 1st, 2nd and 3rd as well as shirts for the State final the winning teams. Because you have all of the figures ie prizemoney required and lineage costs you can work out a surpless figure (above lineage) across both the zone and state finals.
You can ask (i gather that it still is) Ray Hodge or your centre rep for a cost breakdown.

wayne they may not be competing in your zone and no disrespect to all of the good country bowlers that bowl emerson for the fun and experience, but you'll strike a different kettle of fish if you get through to state final.
