Watched the match from first whistle to final spot kick, it was a great match, the call against Materazzi was a dubious one but from the angle the referee was standing on and only having the chance at one look at it was a fair call. Looked at in slow motion no contact was actually made, but this penalty gave the match an edge of your seat experiance, the equilising header by the above mentioned Materazzi was clean and beat not just the French Goal-Keeper but also two defenders. Toni of Italy had a goal disaloud with a very tight offside call. but in the end the team that can't win in penalties won in penalties and the 12 year cycle continues. 1970 lost final, 1982 won final, 1994 lost final and 2006 won final.

The offside was clear, the italian in front of Toni went to play the ball.
The French were the better team tonight, but like other tournaments (Arsenals FA Cup victory over Man Utd), the best team on the night does not always win.
Can't wait to see the Zidane headlines!! An absolute champion has disgraced his career with 10 seconds of stupidity.
