7 not 8 no more

i hear ppl complaning about bowling centers and how bad they are... so i was just want to know waht bowl peopel thought would be the worst in austraila

no offence to anyone that works/bowls/owns these 2 bowling centres here in WA, but Mandurah and Melville are quite bad. Both lack oil, as proved; Mandurah at shield trials this year and Melville all year round

Sorry guys but the lanes were shocking.

Not that i know much about lanes cause i am still learning about it cause i hadnt really taken bowling serious for the first time a couple of seasons ago. But i enjoyed bowling at melville but i thought morley was very dry.

Kalgoorlie's lanes arent to bad to bowl on, but i have only bowled at cannington 3 or 4 times fairlanes 2 or 3 times and the other centres in perth i have only bowled at once.

Thats just my opion though.

KNOX KNOX KNOX KNOX KNOX KNOX KNOX KNOX KNOX KNOX

Albany is by far much worse than any other centre in WA.
If you can put any rev's on the ball at all you wont be able to bowl there.
I went there when i was on holidays and had one shot with my normal dry lane ball. It went off the lane. Moved inside...off the lane. Plastic ball, inside line...off the lane.
House ball down the guts....good for about 100.

I can say it was still fun but by far the worst kept lanes i have ever bowled on.

I have no problem with Melville or Mandurah. They may be a bit Dry but at least it is possible to bowl on them.

Id have to say Shoalhaven all the way...oil?? What is that?? There is literally NONE from 15 out. They claim they changed it and there IS oil...well Id like to know WHERE IT WAS!!!
That place is depressing...honestly it is...

Oh...Id also like to add this one time at Macarthur I managed to go coast to coast with my White Dot...I dont like bowling there either...

Cant seem to get the approaches or the condition right at raymond terrace. I always ask them what the pattern is sposed to be like and they can never tell me. Bowl anything outside 5 board and ball goes straight, anything inside and it all depends really on how many social games bowled that day/week. Oil moves very very fast and the pins are very unforgiving (way lots of splits). Bowled some of my lowest games there. Last weeks series at league (116,218,164)

I also compare this to salamander (1x300 in about 8 years i think now?). Gets all the second hand equipment (oiling machines and the like) from the mother centre Newcastle Superstrike, which is a pretty damn good centre! Maybe if both Raymond Terrace and Salamader were more dedicated to league and competition bowling rather then social, they would pull in alot more bowlers and much greater profit to them. Instead of relying on tourists during the holidays as a primary source of income.
Centres run by tournament/representative bowlers are by far the best around, maybe some centres should take some advice from places like Strikezone e.t.c.

Oh and can't forget BENDIGO!!!!
Sorry if i offended anyone in this post and correct me if my information is wrong, just voicing an opinion...

There are alot of centers in Australia that do rather an income on social bowlers rather then league bowlers and tournament and they do make alot of money this way.

This is true, these centers are run and made for a reason, to make bowlers happy in a good clean enviroment where there have perfect lane conditions and the staff are very friendly and usually knowledgable about the game of bowling. This is why alot of bowlers will find these centers better to bowl at because they are not there to have a great party and have fun with their friends. Also those centers that do prefer social to league will spend their time and effort on games and food rather lane lane conditions.

Final point, social bowlers dont care if say they are bowling on a condition that is too easy or if the approach is sticky LOL.

I find that the worst centres are the ones poorly designed with end lanes. ie: lane #1 is made right next to the wall.

Now not only does this take out any opportunity to hit a 10 pin (or 7 pin for those bloody lefties), but the centre that i know that does it (wonder which one it is) never (and i mean NEVER) puts down oil anywhere on the lane, let alone the outside.

It doesn't help if the centre has rude staff/other bowlers in it as well!!!

i see where you are coming from andrew lol, by perfect i mean consistant and in my point of view challenging that dont just require you to bowl the ball inbetween say 5 boards and the ball will hit the pocket, but away from my point of view a perfect lane condition would be a pattern that allows all bowlers to have a equal chance to bowl well (eg. even on the left and right side)

It isn't that hard for a centre to put up a decent lane condition regardless of who is bowling on it. After all properly maintained lanes do need to be oiled.

As for the approach being sticky, well it is downright stupid, not to mention negligent for any centre to have this.

Perfect lane conditions??????

No such thing as someone will always find fault. The best that can happen is for a condition to be set down that aims to give each type of bowler a shot. As for how many boards you should be able to spray your shot and still score well is up to a centre, but if you need five boards or more to score well, then good luck on scoring well when accuracy is required.

Bad Choice of words, as i posted before

"by perfect i mean consistant and in my point of view challenging that dont just require you to bowl the ball inbetween say 5 boards and the ball will hit the pocket, but away from my point of view a perfect lane condition would be a pattern that allows all bowlers to have a equal chance to bowl well"

use what ever word you wish, as one persons perfect is far from perfect for another.

BATHURST

BATEAU BAY

Hmm...Queanbeyan comes to mind...
As for sticky approaches, Im kindly reminding all you ACT & Southern NSW juniors rolling off, we are at Northern in approx 12 days...so BEWARE!

Not sure about aussie as im a noob(there you go rowey) but on a world scale i must say those antarctica lanes androooo posted a while back looked pretty bad.

Kalgoorlie, Albany, Geraldton (I like Geraldton bowl though) and Bunbury would have to be the ugliest bowling alleys in australia. When Exmouth was open it was so dry I used to run up on lane 3 to bowl on lane 4. Woomera bowl didnt know you were supposed to put oil on their very modern lanes. Mandurah and Melville arent the best either. But my vote for the worst bowl I know in oz - Sunshine bowl in Melbourne
