Victoria State Championships Result's 2005

Does someone have the results for the state championships now? Or would someone know where they can be found?

Thanks
Jess

Hey guys,

The only place i've seen a full list of state champs results is actually at Ed Fleming Lanes...all the results are on the wall except the All Events i think. So if ya can get down there they'll be there otherwise maybe someone might have a list they can post up here.

Catch ya's
Em

I have been told that results will not be out for 3 weeks - and that is better than what it was last year.

It stinks - we sent down a number of juniors for the first time this year but we can not find out how they went for another couple of weeks.

And we wonder why people do not support these events

well this explains why you shouldn't run events in a primitive way

2005 and no computer to be seen

4 squads and i drew the same pair twice

lanes dont get oiled after the morning oil, which is fabulous when you run the last masters squads on pairs that had 42 games bowled on them

normally the centre would cop a bagging, but i think everyone is switched on to who is at fault

its called normallity, i am used to it, and maybe a few of you guys should too, cause it ain't gonna change in a hurry, maybe we could drag peter coburn back here to run the state

and jeff kennett as well

Do we not have an "official" Victorian Website.

Perhaps someone should pass the info on to the webmaster so it could be posted, even if the results were listed as interim. At least that would give everyone some idea as to what is going on.

We are in the technological age, are we not?

And they wonder why most bowlers look to total bowling for their info. . . .

Roy

Jayson Bundy actully looks after the Victenpins site and does what he can. Sadly if the information is not passed onto him there is nothing he can do.

I realise that all the cheques for winners have to be drawn and it takes a while to get the chevrons from TBA but it is a shame that results can't be made available to all in a short span of time.

Our sport needs publicity and it's much easier for the country centres to get publicity through their local media. We try to do as much as we can here in Sale but by the time these results become available, it's stale news. Even for the country... ;) ;)

When the Junior Country Championships are held, all the results are finalised whilst the Masters are being bowled and the presentation for all the results are done after the conclusion of the masters. It is a bit hard but if you have a good team around you, it is possible.

Maybe the tournament commitee needs to recruit some country members to help run the show. ;) ;)

I agree cheques and chevrons take time - But this doesn't explain why we cant have the results.

Could not agree more with you Liz - We are lucky in Morwell that we can get newspaper and radio coverage but who wants to here results of a tournament bowled over a month ago.

Perhaps more bowlers should volunteer for these jobs then. Ian Nichols and Peter Coburn do a fantasic job, but why does it have to be up to them to get the scores on the internet?

Jan Solomon and Justin Lopes spend ALL weekend organising squads and doing lane draws. They try to take into account that some people ended up on the same lane twice, but sometime's it can't be avoided. It's not as easy as people think it is.

Everyone keeps complaining about "the way things are done" but I never see those bowlers voluteering their time to help out.

Give them a break!

How do we know that more bowlers haven’t volunteered for these jobs and been told that they can manage. The only thing I don’t understand is how lengthy is the process in reaching the point of announcing the official results for the bowlers. They have the scores in their hands but won’t pass that info on. Why not? I can understand it may take a little longer to organize cheques and medals. I have juniors that participated for the very first time too and they constantly ask for results. What do I tell them? Results could be emailed, faxed or posted to centres listed on bowlers entry forms. Normally when I need help I ask. Just my personal opinion.
Doriana :) :) :)

You may be interested to know that I uploaded this morning, results for the masters and the restricted cup however at this stage that's all I've been given. As soon as I receive more I'll put them up straight away.

Thanks Jayson

Appreciate the fact that you can only put up the info you have.

Let's just hope you get more info, as i'm sure most bowlers agree, we appreciate the job you do with the info you have at hand.

Bowling is a aport that relies on volunteers, and many people help where they can, some more than others. Many of us asist at our local centres with juniors, tournaments, etc. when we can.

Perhaps if help is needed at state championships, etc. a request posted before the event asking for assistance. I am sure a few people would offer their support for a couple of hours.

I know when we lived in Melbourne, I offered to help out at some events but was told that you had to be part of the association. I didn't have enough spare hours to commit to that but was willing to help out in a smaller capacity.

I know that Justin and Jan put in a lot of time and for that matter so do some of the others on the association. However the association as a whole needs to look at how they can improve on things.

Thanks for the interim results

The kids really appreciated them. :p

I have no doubt that Jan and Justin along with the other state committee members work hard at running these events but I still would like to make the following comment.

We had the opportunity of taking down 10 kids from the Latrobe Valley. 4 of these kids come from a bowling family and more than likely will continue bowling. The other 6 kids come from non-bowling familys and for half of those this was the first time that they had bowled outside of their home centre.

We also had the luxury of every kid had at least one parent present which is unusual at any sport.

The frustration is that when these new kids and also their parents ask about how the kids went - we cannot give them any answers weeks after the event. These are the people that we need to keep in bowling as they are the future. When next year comes around these are the people that think twice about entering their kids.

Hopefully next year we can have interim results A.S.A.P. and if this means that the State committee needs extra assistance then I am sure that there will be enough people willing to lend a hand.

We do love the work u do :)

I have been reading and watching the comments on this post with regards to the State Champs and the people who do all the work while the rest of us do what we enjoy most "Bowl".
YES the State did do better then last year and YES they still need to be better again next time. But lets point out a few facts shall we:-

All the people on the State Committee are Volunteers and several worked their butts off for 3 weekends in a row to allow us all to bowl without any interuptions. The second weekend saw 4 state committee members fly to Sydney to attend the TBA / AGM and both Joel and myself were there as well for the Managers meeting. This left the State championships pretty low on personal and to see Jan / Sue and Steve hold the fort was fantastic.
Hopefully the personal running the state are starting to come to grips with the fact that if their events are run on a more prefessional basis then you the bowlers will support these events. And as several bowlers have made comments about helping and not been asked, well the simple answer is join one of the sub-committees that the state advertised awhile back and just help with one of these events. If we had sub-committees for State team rolls offs and State Champs then the work load would be much easier for everyone. But the state only got a couple of replies when looking for volunteers on any of their sub-committees.

So lets put the challenge out to all you bowlers, put your name down for one of the following sub-committees and ease the work load of a handful of fantastic volunteers who give up so MANY HOURS of their time to make our bowling lives so simple and easy.

SUb-Committees:

Rachuig State Team Trials
President Junior State Team Trials
Youth State Team Trials
Walter De Veer Team Trials

Adult and Junior State Championships

Now all we need is 3-5 person's per sub-committee and we will have a great team working towards the betterment of Tenpin Bowling in Victoria. And then we can actually get this State running as a professional unit the way it should be run.You never know you might actually enjoy being part of the State program. It is important to remember that no one makes mistakes on purpose, but sometimes the State bodies just need more hands on board to help with the work load and make everything a lot simpler and easier to manage.

Just to clarify the above comments, they are my personal views and not those of any person's on the State Committee. And I do not mind putting my name to the above comments, which is different to some people that I know.

and whats all this got to do with getting a computer and oiling the lanes halfway thru the day

fix the structure and the rest will fall into place

computer gets results out quicker :D

lane oil keeps everyone happy :D

no increase in staffing needed :D

how hard can it be to fix such a logical problem

So Craig, you will donate a computer to the State Association, remember they do not have any income.
I look forward to your worthy donation.
