To help answer the many questions asked about the team challenge, the following will hopefully provide your answers.

The challenge was created to promote a level of interest among bowling centers, to encourage more junior females to attend the illawarra championship and to provide another level of reward and interest aside from Masters that all bowlers could be involved in.

The team challenge is not a tournament. It is just that all the junior bowlers entering the Illawarra Tournament with an all event entry are invited to nominate themselves as part of a "team" for the purpose of representing their home bowling center.

The team nominated must be a mixed team ( 1 boy and 1 girl only). The team only exists on paper and does not have to bowl together. However they both must bowl in a league at their nominated tenpin center to qualify for this challenge.

The results of all the above teams nominated are collated and updated as squads are bowled during the illawarra championship. The winner will be the "team" that has accumulated the highest points. Points are based on total pins bowled plus entering handicap over the best 9 games played in the tournament. ie : best singles, doubles and teams result for all bowler's in a "team".

I hope this helps.
Steve.
