Smoke in Sydney (particularly Bankstown)

Whats the smoke like in Bankstown? Would it be wise for the interstaters to purchase some masks? Or it isnt that bad?

Also, are there any fires haunting the hume highway? Im driving up from Melbourne early tomorrow, and just want to make sure Im not driving myself where there are roads closed
