serial no. question

AdrianS

This is the future!!!
I have a ball where the balance hole has been drilled through the serial number, does this cause any problems with the ball being passed as legal?

It's still legal without the serial number.
BTW..When's the last time you had to list your equipment's serial numbers on a scoresheet?

I'm guessing you had to do this at the ABC's or on tour Wayne. I think we had to do it on president shield rolloff entries back in the old days. Even up to the late 80's at SPC you had to check in your stuff before you started and that was it, no running to the shop or or dragging a different bag of 4 balls from home between qualifying days back then(maybe someone could try a tourney with this rule now, max 4 balls, choose wisely!)

You still have to register your balls for nationals & president shield. So u need your serila number for that.

As long as you dont play FIQ it shouldnt be a problem.....

At FIQ all ball are weighed and along with the weights are the serial numbers (i guess to make sure you dont change the ball after a medal or 300)

But other than FIQ i have only ever needed a serial number in a tournament at Denamrk for the World Team Challange

i think u should be safe bro

good luck and good shooting

Don't think making FIQ will be a worry anytime soon, if i did i'd be throwing something a little newer than my dear old Pulse! Thanks for the clarification anyway, with some of the rule changes re equipment checking the last couple of yrs i don't want to end up with a thin wallet due to not knowing something and getting the boot.

serial numbers

I would have to do some digging to find the exact rule number and wording...

but from the ABC rule book, and I would think it is the same elsewhere... if a serial number is no loger readable due to resurfacing (or in the case because of a weight hole), it is allowed to be RE-engraved on the ball....doesn't matter if it is the same numbers as the originals, just as long as there is a number on the ball before begining of competition, and that is the number recorded on the scorescheet (for the tourney if required, or the honor score award form when filled out after an honor score).

Hope that interpretation helps. I guess if in doubt, ask the TD's before the start of that individual cometition.
