Rachuig Nomination Extention

which is totally a wrong and outdated idea.
who knows how many others have designs to nominate and have accommodation with family and friends available to them in ACT and HAVE TO stay where they are told and pay to do so.
yester years rules need to be thrown out and new more up to date rules used.

It's a team event. 'Nuff Said.

When you go away to represent yourself. Stay with whoever and wherever you want. If your ever lucky enough to represent NSW or even Australia, then I can tell you, the only place you wanna be is with your team.

Later Da Cowman!

you miss my point, i fully understand the philosophy of team as our travel group play and stay as a team and whilst we attend places i and others can stay elsewhere with friends and relatives we simply don't. in order for it to be cost effective for people all's i'm suggesting is to allow the team members to take advantage of alternative accommodation. its only a place to put your head down of a night after all. if there are team meetings etc scheduled then members simply ensure that they are there at the required time.

Christian and Cowman i ask you both, if you were in Dave Rosser's shoes and had relatives in ACT and can stay for free would you be happy about paying out $500 for accommodation or whatever the figure is. i would think both of you and everyone else would love to take the option of staying with relatives for $0

Shoey,
I disagree here. Look at all other team representative sports, they stay as a team not all seperated staying with family or friends. Your representing your state I believe you need to stay as a team.
People that have not played Rachuig and stayed with their respective teams would not understand.
Do you think it's right for the Australian Team to travel to the USA to play FIQ and have Belmo and Walshy stay with friends and the rest of the team stay at the hotel accommodation. I don't think so. That is not what you call a team.

christian,

all other team representative sports, well the more prominent ones do not ask for the level of financial input that bowling does as they are extremely well financed via sponsors and government handouts.

this is not an issue of being a rachuig bowler or not, its an issue about money, i never once adddressed it that way. all i was saying is that people including yourself are saying its too expensive, if this is the case then why cant NSWTBA allow those who can source alternative cheaper or free acommodation to do so. maybe more then will be interested in nominating.

perhaps roll offs earlier in the year to allow more time to save and pay is an idea as well.

Just a question. Just how many names are there rolling off. Is there not enough for a team. If there is not enough for a team then I will put my name in if it meant i did not have to travel to roll-off. It is all about the cost when you have a business or job or just frankly a LIFE. Don't get me wrong I LOVE this game. Would not trade it for anything else but to roll-off for state it is not just about the accomodation at nationals. What about the other costs eg. the roll-offs accomodation and travel from way up north NSW this would also mean at least 2 nights accomodation plus the cost of making the team then all the team practice days WOW more 2 nights stay somewhere done sydney way plus fuel, food then the trip to the nationals all for WHAT???? A hand shake with the Touranemt director IF your team wins. NOT REALLY WORTH IT.

If there is not enough name's down. Will there be a roll off? Because really there is no point. We will already know who is in the team?

Lexi,
We didnt have a roll off last yr for the ladies beacuse there was only 6 of us.. so if there is less then 7 that have nominated they will just take who they have most probably..

As christian said you only have to stay with the team on rachuig nites that is it.. the cost of a room split between 3-4ppl (depending on what room you get) is not all that much really for 3 nights..

and i totally agree with cow, "its a team event enough said"

Team work, socializing, and communicating with team members and making a great team invovles the bowlers staying 2gether..

Previous team members should know what this is like even if you have been in a youth team, shield team or rachuig team it all surrounds the same stuff..

so yes.. if you can afford it and think you may want to represent your state and have that passion for it get your nominations in..

just my 2cents worth..

Cheers

having saying all that, I do agree with the team staying together, but with today finances and general cost everyone will always look for the cheapest option available,

the option of sharing rooms does help with cost but, for me I would be looking at least extra $150 for accom, becuase room prices are that time will be top/overpriced dollar because of floriade.

and when, if you are like me I only earn around $600 a week, and when you take out $300 to $400 for loan and bill payments and fuel, it doesn't leave a lot for anything else, and when you get little financial return, i need to budget for everything. And that money I would save on accom, is sparing if something go wrong, with my car or something else.

So I hope this show why I would prefer to stay with family or friends if I could.

Cheers

hey just my two cents worth but
i dont see the problem with staying with family as long as you get together as a team,i argued this point last year in our state as the previous two times rachuig was in our state we stayed with family and actually won last year we were forced to stay in accomodation and well you can see where victoria finished!!!!
maybe it is more important to get the best out of each team member by doing what is most comfortable for them?
cheers

I don't understand why staying together has to be such a big issue:

If you're such a strong team, you can handle being away from each other because distance shouldn't be an anchor on how well you bowl as a team. not as if a team would stay up till 4 am telling each other what board each bowler should play, etc.
What I'm saying is, is that if people need their team to be together 24/7, are they sure that their team spirit is where it should be?

I know personally if I was bowling, I would bowl 100% better without having to worry about next weeks bills due to lack of money.
