Queensland assault on Rachuig 2009

You are smoking some seriously good drugs my friend! Even as a fellow QLDer this has never happened, it has been talked about but never occurred. Can't see it happening anytime soon either!

Dont agree with you Michael.

If, and its a big if, George can get this off the ground Queensland will romp home. There is a huge bank of talent up here but our problem has always been getting that talent to nominate.

I dont know if George was serious or not with his reasons that Queensland has never fielded the best teams in the past, but I can assure him that these days TBAQ really does its best to help all bowlers who nominate and subsequently make the team.

Nominationwise the board listens to a lot of people before any decision is taken, and I'm pretty sure any team member from the last year or two will confirm that we really do our best not to put obstacles in the way of any bowler in Queensland who is thinking of nominating for any State Team.

We also try to go out of our way to help Team members once they have made the Team, the "them and us" attitude has no place on the TBAQ board.

Good idea Andrew, have some practise sessions well away from the centre we are actually going to bowl the championships at, thats TBAQ thinking for you.....how about a $500 nomination fee and a 3 game shoot out? nice work.... I expect nothing less than to hamper the bowlers who actually want to try out in 2009... don't worry about the bowlers, just focus on yourself and your needs...

and we wonder why Queensland has never won or fielded the best teams with board members like this....

Not one of your better posts George…

I can assure you that I have seen firsthand what this Board has been prepared to do for the bowlers over the last few years…
Gordon and his staff have bent over backwards for the bowlers and put their heads on the lines over a few decisions that past and present Rachuig bowlers have wanted changed…Yet still haven’t been supported by the dream players of the Sunshine state…

Just a shame that the bowlers themselves pick and choose when it suits them, rather than support it when they chose…There are a select few that have support Rachuig through its good and bad times, yet year in and year out they keep showing up to any roll off thrown at them and supporting the QLD state…

TBAQ need to look at what WA men’s team have done and perhaps look at that…They have grown from strength to strength over the last couple of seasons and will be a success for the next 10 years…

Why because they don’t have blow in teams when it suits them… I hope the dream team is there… but if and only if they are doing it just so they can say they were the first to win it, and without sounding like I am personally attacking anyone…then they shouldn’t be nominating at all if that is the only reason…

If this dream team is formed so to speak I hope it’s there for a lot of years to come…

If you seen the endless hours of work that Board Members like Gordon Little and Andrew Shinnie put into this sport I think you would think twice about typing what you did…

Perhaps George might like to attend our next board meeting this Monday at 6pm at Sports House, Milton, where he can lay forth his grand plan......he might even deign to nominate himself for an active role on the Adult Committee......

"Quote........ and we wonder why Queensland has never won or fielded the best teams with board members like this.... Quote"

As a new board member, I have taken umbrage at this remark of Georges' - perhaps you will be able to clarify in person what you meant by "board members like this"........I'm sure the whole board would be interested in what you have to say, and hear your thoughts on what sort of board YOU feel is necessary for Queensland to move forward.

see you there ;)

This takes away all the worry of can they afford such a massive nomination fee - the board sets the fee, so why would it be massive? Surely just paying for linage would cover this fee, or you wouldn't even need such a huge fee if you combined the roll off with a National tournament stop in Brisbane.

How will they handle the endless compulsory practise sessions Gail is setting up, and should we schedule 20 of the 40 games in Cairns or would your guys prefer Mackay? - why would even entertain the idea of such places when the championships are in Brisbane.... and with planning you don't need dedicated practise sessions, that's why we have tournaments.... history has shown us these 'practise' sessions are useless. You have International standard bowlers in the state, give them a bit more credit.

It is a great comfort not to have any of these concerns next year, and with the knowledge that you are going to lead the Queensland assault we owe you a huge vote of thanks. :) - sarcasm at its best, if you don't want to attract the best bowlers keep posting like you have been. You set a bad example for the good work of other board members. I never said I was going to lead the team, I said I was going to try and assemble a Dream Team

I might just come along to the TBAQ meeting and put forward my ideas on how to attract the best bowlers and how to put together a dream team. We have 5 ex and current International players to draw on plus many great and proven National tournament players, let's see if they come together...

My gripe is clearly with Andrew, I think his comments reflect badly on the board with his first post. I know most other board members and have seen first hand some of the work TBAQ have done, dam I've contributed to some of it myself.

I will attend the meeting and put forward my ideas, let's see what happens from there. Again, nothing is easy is it

George I tried very hard with my response to your comments. Blind Freddy would have realised that my post was tongue in cheek yet you for some reason have taken it seriously and singled me out.

I dont know what sort of response you were expecting but when you come out with your here comes George to the rescue comments you must expect some sort of sarcasm in response.

By all means come to the meeting and if you do, bring your sense of humour which has obviously deserted you at the present time.

Beefing your stats up a bit there Georgie boy!!! Maybe the last decade of talk might finally come to fruition, who knows.

Andrew, if every state team was to do as QLD is hoping to do, QLD would not romp it home, they would probably be top 3, but defn not a romp as much as I would love to see it happen.

hmmmm do i want to be part of this ? bring together the cream eh ? 3 game roll off suits me at my age . why all of a sudden lets do this? lets all argue about formats, doesnt matter its in QLD well win NEWSFLASH ITS NOT SINGLES AT BATHURST ITS 5 MAN TEAMS.how many dream bowlers plaY THAT. But what would i know ive only been in several WINNING RACHUIG TEAMS lets make sure all of QLD is represented not just some dreamy brisbane players no disrepect to those with heart.OTTY

This thread is funny .....:)

George your Dream Team has been shut down before its even begun..:p

I thought the whole thread was just a big rev up - seems as if there a few hungry fish out there. :fishing1:

George,

Lets just hope that certain members of the TBAQ don't get their way and do away with the Qld Invitational team (Why do they want to do this??).

Because gee up or serious you have just ensured that a HUGE target has been painted on the Queensland Rachuig team for 2009, and that EVERY single team will lift an extra 25% to make sure that they beat them.

It's sort of like walking down the main street of Baghdad waving a big "I Love George Bush" flag............. :surrender:

I do like the sentiment of putting the best team possible to have a good crack at Rachuig, but maybe a bit more discretely might have been the plan???

Oh well we'll see what happens

Cheers

Steve
