John..as a committee member of the MTBA, you know how hard it is to schedule events. Unfortunately sometime changes have to happen. In this case, the event had to condensed down to two full weekends and bought forward.
I am a little surprised you think decisions like this is what is making bowling bad. The centre has worked hard to try and promote not only tournament bowling but the MTBA..that's why every bowler in our centre is sanctioned through MTBA..how many other centres can the MTBA say have blanket sanctioning through them.

Fisrtly, i don't post on this forum as an MTBA director, i post as a bowler.
I understand that sometimes things have to be changed, however i cannot see how an event that is normally run over 3 weekends be condensed to 2 weekends unless of course past figures have shown that 3 weekends is 1 weekend to many (but i don't think it's possible)
In light of Rev's comments of bowling being conjested in november i can see why a change in dates NEEDS to be made. on the flip side i can see bad points of moving the event, some bowlers will be lost due to plans that have already been made on the asumption that the dates will not change, but bowlers will also be picked up with the date change. until the event rolls around no-one will know what will happen and how things pan out

bowlers dont stress to much the northcote championships might go down the drain but the spirit wont not if the the people that have run this tournament for years have anything to say about it northcote might have there championships but it wont be the same without the people that can actully run it and not just the people that think they can.
but this is coming from someone that has bowled in this tournament for years and have helped with it aswel bowlers this might just change who needs northcote bowl we'll just move the voluntry run championships elsewere we might have to change the name and where they will be but with the same people running and no events to be scratched the championship spirit will still be there.
so just keep checkin this space cos during this week you might be in for a shock because the championships are gona be the same just else where.
from what i've heard these entry's will be out soon aswel if not before the 3rd of july.

It is with some amusement I read the messages in this thread.

I note that NONE of the main people involved in running this event for the last five years have posted a complaint or even a comment. Iris, Sarah, Tania, Carolyn, Liz, Shirley, Bev( excuse me if I have missed any one but I am only giving a few examples) have not complained about being STUFFED.

At this stage only Wayne, Stefan and JC have bowled in previous years and commented(yes I have access to the computer results for 5 years).

There has been no final announcement of what events are being run or combined. I suggest we wait and see what the new format is like before we decide to complain or start a new "Northcote" Championships at a centre other than Northcote.

Before anyone complains. I have not bowled in the Northcote Championships and yes my son does work at the bowl.

Yes Bob you might have computer access to the northcote championships for the last 5 years.
Well you should be able to see how much the championships have improved over these 5 years and you should how many of these bowlers have bowled because of the events and the timing of the championships themselves.
And have you thought

I am sorry Stefan I dont understand what you mean.

There is no way anybody can guess how many of the bowlers have bowled because of the events and the timing of the championsips. I agree with JC that only time will tell. Northcote will lose some bowlers, such as your self, due to the change of dates but I would expect they will pick up other bowlers.

My point about access to the last five years of results was to indicate that some of the more heated postings are from people that have not bowled under their "Total Bowling" names.

For the "hundreds" that bowl only 3 bowlers have commented. 2 of these bowlers have suggested a wait and see approach while 1 is for moving the event to another bowling alley. Now while there is nothing to stop another "Northcote" event being started elsewhere the named events will hold little or no meaning once they are moved away from Northcote Bowl.

Lets all wait and see what AMF decide to do.

Well, I know i had a Fantastic time in the Championships last year, which was my first year.
I thought that the dates were perfect for the tournament, in fact why change them if they have been working for such a long time. The Cast of many people that ran it last year need to be respected as they honestly did a fantastic job, if it wasn't for the friendly faces and help i personally would not have come back for the rest of the tournament as i thought the lanes were just crap.
But due to friendly people i stuck it out and enjoyed myself. The only reason i stuck my hand back in my pocket for more money to enter more squads was because of the friendly people, if AMF are not prepared to do the same (LOL) then you can count me out of this year.
Pity as i was looking forward to another go.

Peter

There is nothing stopping anyone from volunteering their time to this years Northcote Championships. Hopefully the friendly people that have run the tournament in the past will be part of this years event as well.
If last years volunteers end up not participating it is because they have chosen not to do so.
I encourage all people who have either bowled in the championships or volunteered their time towards them, to once again be a part of this event.
Entry forms will be out, as Grant has previously stated, on July 3rd and entries will be accepted from that point on.

people like Iris, Tania, Carolyn, Shirley, Bev, Sarah and Liz might be stayin away from it because they are organising a diffrent championships themselves and it dosnt matter which one's are and which one's are not but i also know for a fact some of the committe didnt even know that the championships where changed until i told them my self last friday night.
And isnt it also true that you have lost alot of sponsership because of the move of the championships becase that it what i have heard and i'm pretty sure that one of the reason you's where movng them in the first place was to gain more sponsership instead you have lost it.
i have also heard that it was amf that told the vullenteers that they wheir not wanted because amf (marrcurie) didnt want anyone outside of the company running a tournament like this. i might be wrong but this is what i have heard yes i might be a bowler of the championships for so many years but for the last two i have also been a member of the committe myself and also know how many people and time has to go into this tournament.
over all 42 years of it.
and what tournament of this nature and size have you ever seen run by just a bowling centre to my recall thers none its always been a committee or orgsination that has such as the TBA, MTBA, VTBA, from what i hear there not bowling centres are they?

Without taking sides.. Grant was SHAFTED to Northcote by HIGHER PEOPLE !! He is there to do HIS JOB !! RESPECT THAT !!
End of story !! And YES i can have a say coz i will be bowling this year !! And if they decide to take this Championship somewhere else it's their lost !!
Alex :D

So what if its an AMF centre the championships was not an AMF run event

hey jase
why was my post deleted I never abused anyone just told fact this is a forum is'nt it? why are other people allowed to speak their mind and not me.
Could you please answer thankx

hate to burst all ya bubbles the Championships are independently ran by volunteers and always has been, just image if they had to pay...........

Are you people that stupid !! AMF have the final say. You are just renting the lanes.OMFG i give up !! This is insult to any intelligence. It is their centre and the centre manager will have the final say!! If they don't do it they get fired everytime !! What's worst is you two are not bowling there !! FFS Get a life and let the people whos bowling there sort it out ! Hope you two can give him a job when he gets fired again !!
Alex

How would you know who bowls there. You wouldnt know what goes on with the championships. Get a life

Get a life really, you know what the problem is you don't bowl there so you would not have a clue, and do you really wanna know what's worse I actually do bowl there.
