New TBA web format

I'm still standin'
For those of you who haven't ventured on the to TBA site for awhile - go have a look.

From today, the site has been taken over by Sporting Pulse, and the result is a fresh, modern, and (so far) quite user friendly site!

Online registrations are not quite up and running yet, tho it is anticipated that it will be by the end of the week.....

I think it is definately worth having a look, and is, in my opinion, less cluttered and formal than it used to be. :D

I was able to get into the site yesterday, but have had no luck today.

Is everyone else having trouble?

Jenny ;)

It must have been down this morning, because it is now up & running again.

As for the results, I couldn't find them either.
It would be very disappointing if they have gotten rid of this.

Can anyone lighten us if a results page will be put back on?

Jenny ;)

Does anybody know when the TBA email system will be back up and running...because it keeps saying the email has failed to be sent

So i wonder when the online registration will be up and running???????

There already has been the tournament in Cairns, and the bundy event coming up soon, so what happens if cannot register your membership, and want to bowl? Will they take last years TBA membership if the online rego isnt up in time?

I bowled in my first tournament for the year last weekend and we had to provide proof of payment. Really frustrating as I had wanted to register on-line but had to pay my membership at my local centre and get the proof of payment from them ie the RH stub from the membership application to show at checkin. They would not accept last years membership card.

I expect this is what will also be required at the SA Open events this coming weekend.

Yeah i figured that would be the case, but get this!

My local centre of a few months since moving from NSW wants to charge $30 instead of the $27.50 the TBA are charging.I'm not concerned about the extra $2.50 but it is the principle of it as it was explained the extra money would go to awards, chevrons etc, of which i would now only be eligable for 1 or 2 at best as i have achieved all of them just about and have no interest in it.

"Mind you after 20 years or so i finally got my 7-10 split award a few weeks ago :)"

To add to the above, i believe the local associations get a portion of the proceeds anyways, so why do they have charge more??????

Poor principles me thinks.:(

With the new membership structure the local association now only gets $5 per bowler (less than the last few years). For our association this means we will be looking at having to maybe reduce the benefits we give our bowlers. Really hard to explain when the membership fees have gone up and we give back less. Our assocation provides cash awards for high games, support to state representatives, support for coaching courses and junior coaching, monthly prize draws etc. We can't do all of this for only $5 per bowler.

I don't see how a centre can charge more especially once the on-line registrations on the website is up and running bowlers can directly renew and pay their TBA registrations themselves without going through the Centre.

Yes, Ashmore does add an extra $2.50 to the standard charges. In previous years $10 went to Ashmore to run its local affairs, the main one being the award scheme. Under this new process Ashmore have actually cut their own amount by $2.50 ie Ashmore gets $5.00 rebated and $2.50 directly.
We would like to add that whilst a great many bowlers have already achieved some awards the majority of bowlers have not.
At the AGM it was unanimously agreed that it was not practicable to offer two different registration amounts to bowlers. That would only add to the confusion.
We also took into consideration new bowlers coming into Leagues for the first time. The award scheme is in our opinion very important to new bowlers and it would be difficult to explain the already complex registration system to anyone coming in. We discussed all this with bowl management who agreed with the importance of the awards.
Regarding the registration process, we believe that not all Associations will agree to participate in the online process, which in our eyes only complicates the collection system.
We have talked to a lot of our secretaries and I have personally had a lot of feedback from other Queensland Associations. Bottom line is that there is not a lot of arguement over increases in membership fees but the registration process itself is an utter disaster.

well sorry but out of principle i wont be paying for my membership at the bowl when i can do it for the TBA price of $27.50 online. Why would i? How many bowlers knew of an AGM?i certainly didnt! i will only pay at the bowl if it comes to a situation where i am forced if the site isnt up and running before i bowl in my next tournament.

Jason I'm sorry you weren't aware that there was an AGM, we do post our Association notices on the bowl notice board, and certainly nobody at Ashmore will force you to join the Ashmore Association. You are quite free to register with any Association of your choice in Australia.

The bowlers here in Griffith are confused enough as it is, with this year being the first year we have (and been allowed to) make TBA registrations and league accreditation a must have in leagues. i havent even mentioned the ability to pay online to them yet as (1) its not working at the moment, and (2) if they have any questions or concerns, they can talk to someone (i.e. me) face to face straight away, not go & register on line for something that confuses them. Maybe in future we will do online but at the moment its not in the forseeable future. the main reason y we are making it compulsory is for the insurance. 40% of our bowlers live in town, 10% live 15 min or less from town & 30% live half an hr away or more. on a nice dusty country road, with roos, wombats, drunk drivers & now harvest machinery & b-doubles for harvest/vintage, i would hate to see our bowlers get hurt going to or coming from a sport they are starting to fall in love with.
