Go little Gifford! just shows there's nothing wrong with covering every bloody board on the lane. Now get your bum over to SPC and make some money!

Well Gifford won't be able to bowl SPC if he wants to bowl shield again next year
icon_sad.gif
I'm in the same boat! this is cause our SA Junior State Champs are on the weekend of camp and the weekend after which is SPC!
icon_sad.gif
So like i did he will have to make the choice between one tourney and shield again! I think i know and u know which one he will bowl!
I must say i'm really annoyed that i can't bowl SPC as i would of loved to but i have to get over it! I'm sure Paul will too!

Catch ya

It's a pity things like this still happen, Paul Longy was a victim of something similar a few years ago by having to miss ATBA events(when he had a scholarship too i believe) to goto shield practice, over here almost the whole boys team bowled Melb Cup and a few bowled AO as well which i think is a better preperation. I hope they all turn up to Moorabbin too, these kids are learning a lot by bowling in these Majors. I just wish the kids in SA could have that oppurtunity too.

This is just a notice that there are some bowlers that I do know of that havent made the camp before and yet they have averaged so high before much higher than some kids in the camp and have not made it again this year.

I was just wondering what the criteria for this camp is.

I am not down grading the people who have made it but I am pretty sure that some people have been overlooked dramatically.

Can someone please fill me in please.

Yeah us from SA are allowed to get out of Shield trainin now to bowl events but things like State Champs we can't get out of if we wanna bowl again the next year.
I really wish it was possible to get out of State Champs as i really wanna bowl SPC and a whole heap of people asking me at NSW Open if they would see me at SPC and i had to say no
icon_sad.gif
as i can't get an exemption out of it
icon_sad.gif

I wish i could but i was made to bowl shield trials with a dislocated knee if i wanted to bowl this year as they wouldn't give me an exemption so i did and still made the team and i can't see them giving any of us one now! So i can't see any SA Juniors bowling SPC this year

well sarah there is only one condition to be eligable to make the came that is try out for a sheild team or to have made one . Well it is on selection on potential not on whay you average . Last year i wasnt selected and i made allstars but when i won sydney junior cup i was selected then so its not on averages at all it on who the comitee select and they take alot of things into consideration for eg :
age ( how many more years you have left of sheild )
and also how you throw the ball and if they could help you. and much more . hope that help you out .

Scott I totally agree with what you have said but I believe they should choose shield bowlers that have made shield for the first time to help them improve their skills both mentally and physically instead of choosing high class bowlers like yourself that already have these skills nearly down pat. I am not saying the people selected shouldnt have been selected but to me development camp means targeting bowlers who arent exactly at their peek yet and helping them to get there. I also think it is great that non-shield bowlers have been selected for this camp.

This is just my personal opinion anyway and I am sorry if I have offended anyone in anyway it was not my intentions. I am just simpling voicing my opinion.

SCOTTI my dear cranker.......u didnt win SYD CUP i lost the bitch hahahahahahahaha
but this year will be diff ...i hope haha

anyway...what is in this camp....i was told last year i wasnt allowed to bowl it cause my style was to hard to coach.....and cause u guys do some sort of drills that i couldnt do!!!! JUNE and KEV told me this over the phone.....
i thought that would of been perfect for me....again this year although i had to pull out of sheild i still made the central team and was elagable to be picked and again no letter for Jase!
Congrats to thoise who got into this camp...i hope u benefit from it

later

Mel,

hey yall..it is JAYDE here...
just wanted to say a couple of qucik things....
about this only shiled bowlers ....i think that if we only picked them who would be the up and commers??? maybe i am biast becaseu of my sis but i have met dick and he is awesome ...anyone that has the chance to be coached by this man is very lcuky...
also...if we only pciked sheild ppl what hope would there be....if you made shiled you must already be the best....lets build on that and make our teams better with this experince....
sorry to amble but i really diagree with that commnet... sorry to offnd

jayde xxxxxxx

I totally agree with u Jayde, if it was all shield bowlers how would any of the up and comming get any hope. Some of the juiors are great bowlers but haven't made shield as they don't preform on the days of trials maybe the ones that have made camp will learn a lot and prove to everyone that they can do it!!
i've been coached by Dick in the past and i can't wait to be coached again
icon_smile.gif
this man has so much to offer it isn't funny! also at least this time i'm old enough and can actually bowl that i might be able to take it all in
icon_smile.gif
and understand everything he has to offer!
icon_smile.gif

Can't wait to see u again Andy

Thumbs up to the shield bowlers for recognising the talent that stands behind the 'known' faces...I guess we first have to recognise how lucky we are and what a priviledge this camp is before others start to take our opinions seriously when it comes to this sport.

Just to clarify something for those that may not know much about this Junior Development Camp...the catch is that - once you have made the camp, you can't make it again. This would answer sara's question about why some of those bowlers who have been selected before aren't again participating.

I, like many others who have shared this experience already wish we could be selected a second time, but it is up to you guys that have been selected for the 2000/2001 group to enjoy and grasp the benefits.

Thanks.
Kimi

Belmo that is a very disturbing post. I think someone in authority should post an answer to your comments.
Nobody should be disadvantaged or discriminated against because of their technique.
