Mushtare gets 900's approved

And still another:

For what its worth.... It IS possible with our Accuscore XL to put a towel over the camera, or to block the sight of the camera in a less conspicious manner, and to simply roll the ball. The camera doesn't see the pins, and therefore scores strikes with BLACK (not red as though they were corrected) X's and all you do then is reset the leftover pins. Just another possibility as to what might have happened.

Those in the Tech end may want to confirm if this is correct. Over to you Willey!!!

And another:

Qubica is the same way... since it does not actually 'monitor' machine activity and machine cycles (it just starts them), you can sweep the pins off of the deck, roll the ball to trigger the lane sensors (heck, you can wave your hand in front of them, too), and the scoring will count a strike... just as if it was bowled normally. Covering the camera will do the same thing. As long as the lane sensors "see" a ball or other object pass in front of them in the correct direction, the scoring will operate normally, but will count strikes each time... and when you print off the score sheets, they will look no different than a 300 sheet that was actually "earned".

Like I said... this complete and utter lapse of good judgement by the USBC is going to open the door for a lot of bogus 900 scores... and I will bet that every one of them will come from someone who works in a center, or who has a friend who does... giving them access to 'adjust' their scores and use a couple friends as 'witnesses' to the perfect series.

I think the nub of the matter lies in these last two cuts from Bowl Tech site.

And they never sanctioned Glenn Allison's 900 with a conventional grip Yellow Dot.

Throwing a spinner at that!

The pattern that Allison threw his 900 on looks very similar to a TBA approved 4:1 tournament pattern. Unfortunately in those days that was considered a "block". 300 games have been disallowed in the US (and here) on patterns like that, back in the days when tougher oiling patterns were the norm, rather than the exception and a lane analysis was done for EVERY 300 thrown.

HA! In the US, they don't even worry about weighing the ball after an honor score!
