I know Dan patterson from Team USA pretty well. He's from Phoenix and bowled regularally in our leagues. So I root for him.

WORLD MEN’S TENPIN BOWLING CHAMPIONSHIP – KOREA
Aussie’s overnight All-Events lead outstripped by perfect game

Another block of steady scores averaging 239 on Long Oil conditions saw Australia’s Jason Belmonte regain the lead in the All-Events category going into today’s final round of three games in the Teams event at the World Tenpin Bowling Championships in Busan.

After posting a Championship record 1541 in the inaugural Doubles event, followed by 1222 in the Trios, Belmonte today added a further 1354 pinfall to reach an individual total of 4117 after 18 games.

However, a 300 game by American Bill Hoffman in the second game of today’s Teams event edged the US National amateur champion past Belmonte in the All-Events standings by just 21 pins, with Finland’s Petri Mannonen and Choi Bok-Eum from Korea in hot pursuit on 4073 and 4065 respectively.

Hoffman’s perfect game helped deliver his Team USA colleagues their first Gold medal of the Championship, with Malaysia claiming Silver ahead of Finland who overtook the defending Teams champions, Sweden, by a slim 14 pin margin.
Australia’s team of Walsh, Lean, Frilingos, Qualischefski and Belmonte finished 10th overall, in a hard-fought battle with Korea, Norway, Germany, Canada and Qatar in its quest for another medal.

Play resumes tomorrow at 9am local time when the first of four squads will take to the lanes for the six-game Singles event on Short Oil over the next two days.

Australia’s Jason Belmonte and Jason Walsh are currently well in contention for the cut to the top 16 for the Masters elimination final, and a return to the form that produced a 1401 series in the Trios will also give team-mate Brandon Qualischefski a Masters berth.

Full scores can be found at the Championship’s official website – http://www.wmc2006.or.kr.

Jase, wasn't slinging off at you, even the principal at the most unruly of schools gets a day off occasionally!!!!;)

Ong rules Asiad Bowling Center, wins gold in Singles and All Events

Ong, Page and Nam-Yi take the same medals in Singles and All Events

3-time Asian Games champion Remy Ong from Singapore fired a 1524 six-game series, an average of 254,00, in the fourth and final squad today to win the gold medals in Singles and All Events in the Men's World Championship in Busan, Korea.

After the lefty had fired games of 226, 268, 248, 268 and 268, he needed just 133 in the sixth and final game today to win in All Events (combined individual series in Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team) and 204 to claim also the title in Singles.

Ong opened in the first frame, threw a four-bagger, opened again and then went off the sheet for 246 to repeat two thirds of his success from the 2002 Asian Games when he won three gold medals in Singles, All Events and Masters right here at the Asiad Bowling Center in Busan, Korea.

Team USA's Rhino Page earned the silver medals in both events. The 23-year-old of Fresno, Calif., shot 1481 in Singles (246,83 ave.) and 5452 in All Events (227,17). Both bronze medals went to Jo Nam-Yi from Korea, who had 1448 (241,33) and 5443 (226,73).
