Sorry I know this is the swing part of the forum but my question regards grip.

Do any of your finger have to be in the ball when bowling? I know belmo doesnt use his thumb so is there any rules on grip??

As long as you held the ball in such a way as not to infringe top and side weight tolerances you should be ok. (Label side of the ball in your palm). See Rule 603.

As far as I know, you have to have at least 1 finger in the ball and the other finger/thumb holes have to be covered with the other fingers.

You don't need to have any gripping holes in the ball.
However, if you don't then the ball cannot have more then 1 ounce different in weight from half to half at any point on the the ball.
Which makes it hard if you buy a ball that 2 ounce top weight.

But no, gripping holes are not neccessary for a legal delivery.

I agree with you , because that is how you are going to handle the ball.
