Emerson Shield 2006

Graeme,

The original date for Warrnambool zone final was Aug 19th and 20th. When Colac agreed to take the final the date was changed -- lucky for you :)

Can we please have it on the Wednesday night??.... I have a 21st on that weekend....

What date do the men bowl on?

Not sure yet David.

There is the possibility that the women will be on Saturday (8 games - Geelong women defending champs won't be there) and the Men on Sunday (10 games). Apparently, we are waiting to see how many centres are fielding teams. There is the possibility that not all centres will have men and women bowling (not sure which centres may not be fielding teams). If that is the case, it will all be bowled on the Sunday (Men and Women)

i hope it aint the 19th & 20th

mildura marathon is that weekend, and i'd hate to think that goldpin would clash an event with another goldpin centres event.

notice there is no other goldpin events on that month

Craig

Think this might by the answer to your query.

Can somebody please tell me how many bowlers are required to field a team? Somebody contacted me reguarding drafting as they noticed that we only had 5 bowlers in each team. When I spoke to the owner at Sale last night, he informed me that according to the rules that he has, only 5 bowlers are required. I however was under the impression that it was 7.

Hopefully somebody can clear this up for me.

Thanks

Liz

Under Goldpin Handbooks send to all Goldpin Centres, under Games per Team Member rule 3.
Each team must consist of seven (7) bowlers. When a team has less then seven (7) bowlers, a vacancy score (max two (2) per team will be applied.
The vacancy score shall be treated as a team member with regard to min games and therefore can win points.
Vacancy scores may not be applied against each other in matches.

If anyone has any further doubts, they should get in touch with Ray Hodge at Melton Bowl, Ray is the Goldpin Tournament Director.

If I remember correctly from last year you required at least 5 bowlers - but every team consisted of 7 members ie (2 members could be vacancy scores).
All 7 team members must complete the minimum number of games.
I dont think that you could have two vacancy scores in the same team (could be wrong with this one though)
So in a nutshell if their were 6 games in the zone final each member is required to bowl a minimum of 3 and this means that the 5 team members and the 2 vacancy scores have to bowl a minimum of 3 games.
Unless it has changed the blind score can win points - Could be handy at Sale - A vacancy score in the All Star side.;)

Yep - 7 bowlers needed - all of whom must bowl at least half the games - if you don't have 7 - either use vacancies or nominate for draft picks

I think that when it comes to drafting people - you have no control over who you get. You nominate that you require 1 or 2 extra bowlers and they are chosen for you (not sure how - someone else may know that one).

Not the end of the world - better to have 5 and work on a 6 and 7 than not being able to compete at all. Last year at Melton, Ballarat men were one short and had to use a vacancy score of 175. The vacancy won 4 points out of 4 and only 13/34 bowlers averaged more than the 175 required to beat it. (This would not usually be the case though)

As I understood it last year the tournament Director controls the draft and I believe that it is Ray Hodge

I have said all along and still believe that whilst the vacancy can win points centres will not use the draft. They have a guarnteed 175 game and a chance to win a point. If the vacancy could not win individual points (score still cotributes to the overall) then their would be an incentive to draft from other centres.

In the end it is all about bowling and nobody wants to bowl against a vacancy whether it be in a state or zone final

Morwells qualifiying finished today, not sure on the final team but as at last wednesday only 5 men and 1 woman had tried out! Would be very interesting indeed as to find out the reasons behind this!

maybe your country cup leadership was less than inspiring

oh by the way, hows your footy season going............... SPOONMAN

I am sure that you know the reasons why Jason - care to tell all of us ?

Gary Black

The men have a full side and and as I understand their was only 1 woman to try.
I will post the team when I find out exactly who is in it.
From the looks of it Sale is going to draft 2 bowlers to make up their 7 (knew I should have nominated for the draft;) )
Mama always said that if you cant say somthing nice then dont say nothing at all:-#
What i will say is that certain decisions have been made (not necessarily this year but in the past) and it looks like what has happened in the past has been reflected in this years trials. In the end their is a team that is representing Morwell and I wish them all the best at the zone final at Sale and hopefully all of these guys will put in their Country Cup nominations
