Country Cup 2006

Just to bring this back to the top - Sale is having their roll offs this weekend. It appears that a lot of the top names haven't qualified for various reasons.

dont know what all the fuss is about here

BENDIGO'S GOT THIS ONE IN THE BAG

by the time i am finished with them boys, they will know how to breathe fire, and who to breathe it on :) :) :)

where one door closes, another one opens and to think i actually tried to find out when country cup trials were on in geelong, so i could have another crack, shame nobody seemed to know the week before the trials.

damn shame that HAHAHA

Fire Breathing Chinese Dragons - Interesting Concept Chucky

Better invest in a couple of fire fighters;)

No more canaries though hey - must have been bird flu

Heaven help us. Its been less than 24 hours since Emmerson Shield finished and we have moved from that post straight to this one.

How big is this one going to be by the time CC is here.

Geez, no pressure there, naming Bendigo as champions already.

Cant wait to see the odds on this one.

Will be very interesting seeing Bendigo stole Shepparton's super coach from under their noses.[-X
Farky could end up being a cranker by then:eek:nfire:
Be interesting to see what the tactics might bring to this years Country Cup.
Just can not see some of the Bendigo lads getting as fired up as Ralphy or bouncing around as much as Porto or even getting as vein popping intense as Chucky:rolleyes:
Oh well only time will tell.

Rob

dave

don't listen to rob, i would never turn you into a cranker, belmo style seems more appropriate for a guy like you, a manager of a post office would have to be a master of sending messengers

getting these guys to breathe fire is definately going to be a challenge, up until now, blowing out birthday candles is as close as they have ever got, up to this stage, and no pat and dave, blowing out 40 - 50 candles once a year doesn't classify as breathing fire.

pat, you will be on an grog and smoke ban until you learn how to swear at your opponents, look nasty, instead of cracking jokes (even if they are good ones) its not gonna happen. take a leaf out of your mrs book, she had the fire breathing to an art form on sunday, i even copped a face full off her

maybe i need to employ a crew to keep you up all night, i know a whole heap of girls who would be up for that challenge

the 2 kids are the key, i get them up to scratch all will be fine for us guys. the will breathe fire, and they will breathe it hard

woza, don't get the bendigo fire department, they couldn't even stop the bowl from burning down, and they are right next door.

and don't you be worrying about them shepp boys, everyone now will be looking out for them, see how they handle being in the firing line for 22 games now. instead of 5 or 6 matches

woza, your guys aint looking too crash hot, look at your captain, the last time i saw him, was the night i give him a lift back to the motel at 3 in the morning after the dinner dance at geelong, he was in no shape to bowl let alone lead your team, maybe lead them to the loo for a chuck and well we saw your form at emmerson, you guys have got no chance

robs crew might have a chance, but i will just spend the weekend stroking deans ego, until he self destructs and he self destructs his team or maybe just remind his team mates that he was to good to bowl with them at emerson

geelong, nearly the same team as emerson so they would have to ease out to 50's at this stage, they'd be struggling to blow out candles at a 4 year olds party with the amount of oxygen the expelled at emerson.

i think you have an early vision of how the odds are gonna look aren't you

anyone filling up that bye??? , i know porto is busting to re acquaint himself with all of you's

I'm very sorry to hear that u won't be representing Geelong at the Country Cup of 2006 Craig. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I believe Geelong needs u, and I am not happy that nobody told u when the trials were considering I was actually there and I wasn't even bowling. Well I hope that the days of u representing Geelong are not over for good, I'd welcome u with open arms.

I might be trying to push s&%t up hill, but I tell you that I will be doing my damned near best to change the outlook and mentality of the bowlers in the team.

I will give it a go at least.

Carmers - Geelong is a chance if they can bowl pounding 1100 type series a few times, like they did to Narre at Emerson.

That is true, and not break it up for the game following. I still can not get over that, I really cant. We do need to change our mental attitude and approach also.

Carmers...not sure who your team manager was, and not wanting to disparage anyone, but that was one of the most incredible decisions I've witnessed in a team event when your line up was flexible. Narre's system would have even been better than that. Nothing wrong with going with the form for the next game, and at that stage, surely there was time to get players allotted games bowled. Can tell ya that if we just bowled 1142 or whatever it was (and we didnt get within 100 pins of that on the weekend) then the line up would have stayed the same 100 times out of 100.

Who was that manager anyway...and has he/she been sacked yet ;)

Adam

Btw, it may even be worth coming to have a look at country cup this year if its anything like emerson...where is it being held?

Adam - Country Cup is at Bendigo next year so no reason for you not to turn up. :D

As mentioned earlier, Sale had their roll of on the weekend. All I can say is that I have no idea who is exactly in the team.

Some of the men are
Alan J Manners (jnr)
Mick Manners
Shannon Valentine (I believe)
Peter Siddle
and 2 others

No Mick Partridge, Gunther Czmok, not sure about Lyle Stanton

Some of the women are
Debbie Duncan
Leica Manners
Gaylene Manners
Maz Crowson
Michelle Crowson
and again 2 others

No Sandra and Belinda Howard, Liz Fabian-Czmok, Sharon Cuthill

I think I can save Craig some time here with the odds for Sale

Bendigo - The home of Chuckys fire breathers;)

Adam - Narre have a system!!! In retrospect (having only won 5 games all weekend), perhaps the three guys who bowled in all five wins, should of bowled in every game. Biggest lesson to learn is you can't have a manager/bowler - unless that's someone like Craig of course.

Your system worked all right against us! -- 2 of those 5 wins were against Colac!
btw - I think you will find even Craig needed to use a manager!

Adam,

As previously mentioned, Country Cup next year is in Bendigo - March long weekend (11th, 12th, 13th - 2006). I would highly recommend you come over from Melton for a look.
The format is basically the same as Emerson, the exception being that you don't have a minimum games requirement.
The competition is just as strong - and I believe the rivalries built up over 25 years are much fiercer - and definitely much louder!
The depth is not as strong as the Emerson final with a couple of new Associations struggling a bit to find their feet, but the top 5-6 teams are very capable.
This years cup in Geelong saw 54 games above 1000 pins (Men's division) which was 24.5%. Compare that to last weekends Emerson on similar conditions 42 x 1000 = 23.3%. The winning team averaged 1046 per game.
You would basically get to see the same Shepparton team that won last weekend plus fourth placed Bendigo on their home turf (with Pat Fahy hopefully on two feet!) and stronger teams from Sunraysia, Colac and Geelong. Add to that Latrobe Valley (Morwell), Warrnambool, Ballarat, Albury, Ovens and Murray and Sale and you have a competition that many of us live for year in year out (in a bowling sense)
Have I convinced you? (I'm not much of a salesman)
