Bowling In The Olympics

For bowling to be successful in gaining entry within the Olympics we can't afford people to speak through emotion. It must be simply through fact. Only through credibility and integrity will we on this forum help bowlings Olympics quest.

It is true that everyone has the right to there own opinion, but one should recognize bagging other sports on public forums doesn't help bowlings cause for Olympic entry at all. If you think it does then I think you need to have a good look in the mirror.

In the article George posted the President of the FIQ pointed out he was seeking clarification as to why bowling was not accepted at this time. He also stated that currently there was no valid reason for bowlings exclusion.

The best thing going for bowling is that with any thing I have been involved with I have found sheer weight of numbers usually triumphs in the end.

With 100 million people to boast as devotees, then bowling I believe will eventually get the nod as an Olympic sport. When this happens however is probably up to how each and every individual of the 100 million bowlers present themselves for our sport.

I heard the other day that the International Olympic Committee doesnt want tenpin bowling in the olympics because "it doesnt have great spectator appeal".

Looking at the grandstands in Greece, none of the sports have spectator appeal.

ive just been looking up on www.olympic.org and on it in this part it has 'recognised sports' and SURPRISE SURPRISE there is tenpin bowling!

if you would like to see your self there is the site ^^. there is an email address and other contact details.

So they do recognise bowling, but still wont allow this world wide sport to be in the olympics. Go Figure

Bowling, i think, is the second most popular sport in Japan alone, so i don't know why the heck Tenpin Bowling isn't in the Olympic Games. Hopefully, one day, bowling will be allowed, and we'll be allowed to watch people like Jason Belmonte win medals.

Oh, yeah, one more thing. A lot of the sports in Athens this y ear had hardly ANY spectators (the grandstands in rowing were basically deserted). If Tenpin Bowling were in, you would get tons of people watching. :p

I find it very hard to understand why any sport should be excluded from the Olympics. Considering its a 4 yearly event what would be the problem with running it for another week if necessary? That way a whole load of other sports could be introduced.

Id like to know why half the sports in the Olympics are actually in the Olympics. I mean, as Rowey said, there was like NOBODY watching rowing...and whats with Synchronised Swimming? Half the time it looks like the people are drowning... :?
But anyway, why do they not include a fast growing sport, that is enjoyed worldwide by vitually everybody?
