Just a few words to bring you up to date with the days events.
The official entries ending up at 57, which was a good effort to everyone that was involved, and a big thank you to everyone that bowled and to Jenny, Alan, and Louise who helped me out today.
However today was a very difficult day for everyone concerned, including the bowlers and organisers. Patience and understanding by all the bowlers made life so much easier for me and all else concerned, everyone was very supportive in a difficult situation.
A squad went through with little incidences, Alan Notman was the top qualifyer after 10 games, finishing with +256, however B squad had Jarrod Lean bowl the tournaments first 300 game in game 2, he used his new Track ball which was apparently 2 games old at the time, this set Jarrod up for becoming the eventual tournament leader with a + 260 score - 226 average.
B squad was marred with a few stoppages because of lightning strikes in the very near vacinity of the bowl, the place was in total darkness twice which put us a fair bit behind schedule, but after the second blackout which lasted over 30 minutes we finally were able to finish B squad qualifying.
The cut to the top 14 was Lindsay Kilpatrick at +15, with cash being 19th place David Rogers at -54, prizemoney was as advertised 1 in 3.
The top 14 bowlers return in the morning at 9.00am for what is expected to be a high scoring day of matchplay.
I hopefully will be able to post the scores on the website after matchplay, as I am not that great at doing it on the fly like the experts.
Regards,
Patrick Birtig
