Big names set to come down under in October

Or maybe George likes living in a fantasy land where he thinks he is more important than everyone else? Surely there can't be a real reason that he can't "give" the names of the players.

How did you go in Malaysia Mr Frillingos?

Roger

how bout everyone just believes him..
george wouldnt be the onlyone talking to international bowlers...
and he certainly has others willing to back him up on this one..

let me be a first to say.. 'somewhat' thanks george for bringing the competition over.
will be good.
and will be a good mouth shut for those who dont seem to believe it

You are thanking someone for something that hasn't happened, may not even happen, and may not have even had anything to do with George, he just might know something.

The fact is that anyone can spread rumours about someone coming over. If it was FACT then names could be mentioned.

I have seen tourneys announce that big names are bowling only to have them withdraw at the last minute. It is simply a ploy to get bowlers interested. Until I see something concrete I am going to treat this as yet another rumour.

Is it just me? ( I'm not sure I want an answer to that !! ): or are some of these posts " strange " ??

I think it would be more logical for people to enter a high paying tournament, if they gave themselves a chance of sharing some of the money, rather than enter it because some high profile "famous" ones were entering, so giving them less chance of taking home the loot.

Why does anyone think that high profile entries would encourage more low profile entries?

WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?

yes Jim..it's just you! Same reason why people climb mountains..for the challenge.

Right, thanks, I see it all. I'm just relieved that it's not some sort of peasant type thinking, that being in the company of one's famous betters gives one a warm glow and the hope that some of the fame might rub off on one. I'm obviously just an old cynic.---- sorry.

Obviously nothing is confirmed until they shoe and start bowling but I have been proactively telling a lot of my International bowling friends. I have spoken to bowlers and National team coaches from Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, USA, Denmark, England, Indonesia and even Greece.

The people I have mentioned (but left out their names) are ones who said they will come for sure. This is their word not mine, a lot of other bowlers expressed interest but I didn’t mention their countries. As mentioned, nothing is final until they are here.

The reality is even though it is a bad time to host such an event on this year International Calendar people overseas have an obsession with Sydney and really want to come. Some of the American pro's will run coaching clinics prior to the event in order to help subsidise their trip, I can assure you there will be some pros here male and female.

Sorry for wanting to create some interest in the biggest event we've ever hosted apart from the Manhatten Superclassic

I guess the logical question to ask would be one concerning eligibility for the Australian Masters. Does anyone know whether or not a bowler (Australian AND International) will have to first compete in the Australian Adult Nationals (S, D, T) before being allowed to bowl the Masters?

Now, there's a good question, which is in need of a good answer.

The entry form will be out soon I heard and I'm sure all the requirements will be in there. One requirement I am certain of is that all participants will have to be SILVER level membership (overseas counterparts will be buying one prior to entering).

This could almost be called the joke thread.

Silver membership just to bowl?
People being allowed to bowl if they buy membership the day before it is on even if they are not registered in a league in Australia?
People starting rumours to get bowlers interested in bowling in the tourney?

I decided (only this morning) not to bowl in this even though I had been asked. Glad I did now.

Isn't that the only way to make it into the Masters?

Why do you have to have silver membership for the masters which is one of the ranked events this year?

When every other ranked event you only need to be a member of tba?

Maybe they can change it so that you have to be a silver member to bowl Nationals and Rachuig as well and all ranked events...... Thats the way it should be!

To much complaining over $27.50

Mate I think your the joke.... do you think people are really going to care if you dont show? Do you have to be asked to participate in the events? Last time I checked I didnt see your name on any squad listing on major events we currently have here.

Does it matter that International bowlers dont bowl league here? I dont bowl league in Indonesia, Qatar or Malaysia but after paying a 'registration fee' (which for the sake of words could be our Silver membership joining fee) I was allowed to bowl.

Stop thinking of this as an Australian Masters and start thinking of it as an International Open. I have already told tournament promoters I'll be back in Jakarta in June to defend my title, is that a rumour as well or is me notifying a bunch of friends over there I'm bowling? Same thing applies here.

Get over yourself and if you dont have anything positive to say maybe just dont say it. I'm thankful we even have this event to bowl, you should be as well.
