Great Photo.

Now can someone tell me why we are going so bad. Up til now people have been reluctant to talk about our poor performance so far.

Aust. Men have come back to take Bronze in
the Teams event this afternoon, with Jason Belmonte also making the cut for tomorrow's Masters 1st block in 6th position.

Both Cathy Elwell and Kate Wilton have made the cut for the Women's Masters .... finishing 11th and 15th
respectively.

Full details are on the official Championship website .... www.asianchamp.com.hk

Good luck to those bowlers who made the masters block - they will do their best.

Am curious though......with Caboolture having the Kegel machine, and able to lay short and long oil conditions very similar to those being bowled on in Hong Kong at the moment, why did the organisers not allow for two or three days constant training on the lanes and conditions, rather than the two 2hr (approx) sessions that they did have at Caboolture? We have no wish to bag any of the bowlers, and we are not about to - it just seems a pity that the technology was there, and maybe a couple of days intense bowling on the conditions may have made a difference......
No-one should be doubting that all the Australians gave their best shot to each and every game they played while o/s, and they should be congratulated for that

What a gutsy effort from Anthony Flynn to come back and bowl as well as he did to get the Team a bronze medal after starting the championships so poorly.
And not to be out done was the super effort from Belmo in the Teams.
Lucky Two of u bowled well.

Good luck to Belmo in the Masters and also to Cathy and Kate. Lets see if we can get a different coloured medal this time people.

i have just a couple of question, i was looking at the photo and was thinking why do u need to send over a men's coach, a women's coach, sports psychologist, manager, and a technical advisor. i have never been in a bowling team but are all these people required? and are they being paid for doing whatever they do? or do they pay there own way?
now as i said i haven't been in a rep team and was just wondering if the guys and girls out there who have been in rep teams think that all the coaches\advisors\managers are needed?

Jeff,

Are you questioning these positions because it hasnt been normal in Australian Tenpin bowling to have ppl appointed in such positions as tech adv or psych? Have a look at any other sports national team and you will more than likely see more than one person in similar positions. Bowling Teams from other countries may not always have a psych to take with them but they sure as hell have tech adv/coaches n managers or varying experience and technical knowledge. Some of these guys are paid relatively big dollars for their coaching role.

We have been in the dark ages for way too long in regards to taking away a support staff with current knowledge capable of handling the needs of 12 bowlers. Also these positions are paid for I assume from the sports commission, this is a huge bonus because this staff comes free, comapared to what they would normally charge/cost, someone correct me if I am wrong. At least this time we have some ppl in the majority of these positions who know what they are doing.

I think it is pretty much about time and a step in the right direction.

Mick,

I agree with you. The sports psych was part of our Asian Schools team this year and she certaily contributed, big time, to our success.

We didn't have a technical advisor in April, as we were on home territory, however, both Ron and Michelle will be part of the youth team in Thailand.

Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines brought similar expertise with them for the Asian Schools tournament and I'm sure they have gone to HK with their respective teams.

We are only playing catch up with the rest of the world.

mick as i said i haven't been in a rep team so i didnt know how things were done. if the people are paid by the sports commission that is a huge bonus, to have a free staff to go away with any rep team can only benefit the team.

can someone from tba confirm that the sports commission does pay the way. if it doesn't and tba are paying the way and is this money well spent or could it be put to better use for the good of all australian bowlers?

bfcc,

Only a TBA board member could answer your question definitively.

However, it is my understanding that this is effectively the case.

Kate Wilton has just won a Bronze in the Women's Masters with a big game to finish taking the medal by just two pins over 4th place!

Well done to Kate as well as Cathy and Jason on a great week of bowling.

Jo

Unfortunately, Kate missed out on progressing further, having to punch out to move to the final match, she left a flush 8 to miss out, a good effort nonetheless. Stepladder scores I dont know of.

Congratulations to Kate on her bronze medal and also to Cathy and Jason for a fine effort in the masters event. You all should be very very pleased and proud of your efforts.

Also congrats to the whole team, your may not have done as well as you would have liked but I believe you made your country proud.

WELL DONE AUSSIES

Congratulations to all that went over to Hong Kong. You have done Australia proud, especially Belmo, Cathy & Kate. All the best to the youth side that goes to Thailand at the end of the month.

Hopefully you'll be able to go one (or should that be four) better over there Belmo.

Orange the only place to bowl
