30 Chair Trick Shot!!!

Sorry Rowey, your showing your Age, I have seen the same thing done in a Movie made in the 30's, by Andy Varipapa, only instead of Chairs he had Legs, attached to Beautiful Girls. Also seen footage of Varipapa doing the same Trick using Rows of Pins.

Maybe someone could get footage of Varipapa's Trick Shots this would be worth seeing, he was still doing Tricks into his 80's.

I think that exact one was also featured on that trick shot dvd that was circulated around nationals 2004, in Illawarra - I'm surprised you didn't pick up that dvd in your home centre Rowey?

Of course, I may be mistaken

I know there was a PBA Skills Chalenge DVD from the 04/05 season that I have. That had 3 chairs or so. Never caught a glimpse of any other ones unfortunately, but I'll have to look around. Thanks for the heads up.

Hooroo

You're welcome Willey. I often watch youtube for bowling. I've come across some great stuff like the history of the 300 game hosted by Nelson Burton Jnr.

Andy was also given the distinction of having 12 strikes in a row across 2 games named after him, because he believed no matter what frame the first strike came from, if you had 12 in a row it was a 300. So 12 strikes across 2 games is known as the Andy Varipapa 300.

God I miss the game. :(

I'm going to attempt it at Logan next Monday night, any volunteers want to sit on the chairs?

I fail to see why this is so spectacular... The ball is a certain diameter wide, the bowler has the skill to be accurate within let's say 3 boards (nice big target).

You are free to line up as many chairs, people, pins, whatever you like on the inside, outside, or around my line. All I'm going to do is bowl the same shot I always do, the trick here is that the chairs are placed over the line, not the line found through the chairs...

Yeah, sorry.

I'm a software developer, my universe is object oriented, and my view is matrix-like with logic and code everywhere...

Now, setting up bizarre pin configurations and sparing them (requiring some skill) is far more impressive to me...

Just having a bit of fun with you mate.

I look at it for what it is. He was doing these things at a time in the sport without all the advantages we have as bowlers today and this is how he primarily made his living because the prize money in tournaments was pitiful. He also threw sixty eight 300 games at a time when they were near impossible to get. Some still say he was the greatest bowler that ever lived.
