2009 Melbourne Tenpin Cup - Results

Pinfall was dropped for matchplay.

Congrats George on a nice display of bowling. Nice comeback from 172 to 300. George even asked to clap on his final shot for 300 as he wanted some noise while going thru the shot.

Great tournament guys well run look forward to next year.

Pinfall was dropped for matchplay.

I have one question......WHY?

If this is one of the changes made in an effort to change up formats, I'm not sure I'm a fan....Dropping pinfall for matchplay, then offering repechage?

Nice win in any case George. I'll beef it up for you when I commentate on it (",)

Nice game to watch glad i stayed to watch the finals. Felt a bit sorry for Thorpey, George just toyed with him in the the first game of the final before be-heading him in the second . I knew it was coming though nice work George..

Congrats George!
I think your words were after a few practice shots, IVE GOT A SHOT? After sanding your ball to about 60 grit Im sure you resurfaced the left side.
I also think the staff at Oztenpin need to be acknowledged for picking up the pieces and running this tournament awesome. They were not only helpfull but seemed to be generally interested in feed back from the bowlers. I personally liked the re-entry format(as I had 2 and made the cut) which seemed a positive way to build the prize fund.(Which I think paid to 24th).

George, congratulations on a fantastic performance from all at Oz Tenpin..

To answer the question regarding dropping pinfall after qualifying.
It was decided that with the re-enrty format being used, the advantage of being top qualifier was not the same as an event with a set number of qualifying games.

As for the re-challenge, it is my opinion that a re-challenge should always be played when a bowler after finishing top, is asked to put that title on the line for the purpose of a TV show!

If there had been no TV coverage arranged for this tournament, there would have been no step ladder component......

Thank you to all those bowlers and friends that stayed to watch the TV finals, it certainly added to the event ...I am sure that the bowlers enjoyed your support !

Amazing work by George and certainly making the most of what was available to him. But he sanded the ball during the event..?

Jason, you know as well as any one that surface is so important to find a break point and the rules state that a ball surface may be changed after each block which in this case was one game. Some right handers were also doing this early in the day.
Well done to all at Epping for making a great run tourny from what may not have been anything at all if left in the hands of others. From the faultless machines in the back to the counter and cafe staff, an example for others to follow, well done. Put me down for next year.
Regards, Paul.
PS, Well done Darren on your first cut in a Major, 12th with bonus pins but 6th on scratch, gotta win those games dude, must have been your haircut, everyone wanted to beat you. We don't call you Krusty Clown for nothing.

Congratulations to George on such a spectacular win. I look forward to checking this out on the Tenpin Bowling Show in future weeks.

Well done to Rob, Jenny and Luke in running a great event at a moments notice due to a no show by the advertised tournament promoter. I don't know how you pulled it together on such short notice.

I am not convinced on the retry entry .... But see the reasons for it as low entries to start with dont help.
If you were just out of the cut of course your going to try.It pumps up the prize fund so they payed down further !!!!

I was there for the whole day monday & enjoyed being a spectator with some great bowling .... Well done George on the win !!!

Congratulations George. What a bowler......and to bowl 300 to win after 172 - this is awesome and shows what a true champion you are! Commiserations on missing out on the PBA tour, hopefully this win will compensate a little.......

Very proud of you.

Annie & Alan
