You future with bowling...

This is not a flame topic , just asking what kinda future does bowling give you? You pay so much for nothing , im into gaming and i can see that's a better future then sports at our age.. Gaming you get better sponsorship , get to travel for free , all paid for , computer part's... with bowling you get a trophey *wow* .. and $300 for a 300....

If you feel that way about the sport...then why do it? I know I bowl coz I love it. Im addicted...and as most people on my MSN would know...Bowling is my religion. Im obsessed. Completely and utterly.
I dont know how far I will get in bowling, but Im going to go as far as I possibly can. What Ill get out of it? I guess Ill get out of it what I put into it. Which is what happens anywhere. You will get out of the sport, what you put into it.

Hmm, I think if you work hard enough for something, then you just might get it. Bowling is alot more fun than gaming. I mean how many times can you play dungeons and dragons before you get bored?? for me it was about 30 seconds.

Look at all of our junior/youth Australian reps... They work their asses off to get to where they are. And most of them have sponsorships that help them along the way. So this sport doesnt give you nothing. Last year, Tim Mack shot a 300 in qualifying for an asian tournament (someone will know what it was, I forgot) and he earned himself $100,000. Just for one 300.

And I'm sure its everyones dream to one day either a) Represent Australia at asian schools/youth championships/adult championships and/or b) become a professional or c) bowl league and win the jackpot everyweek

And I havent wasted money on anything to do with bowling. I been away with WA shield for the last 3 years, and it was worth every cent I've spent on bowling.

This is a most interesting topic that has been started.
We must all remember that this is a sport and as such gives all the benefits, satisfactions and disappointments that you will get from participating in any sport.
It can be an expensive sport as I should know being the father of a fairly successful junior bowler.
But, like most things in life, you will get out of it no more than you are prepared to put in.
My son did not do as well as he needed to in his final year of high school and was unable to enrol in the courses of his choice, but due to the effort he has put into his bowling, the efforts of a great coach and a bit of good luck, next week he leaves for USA to study the subjects he wants.
Moreover, it will be tuition free and save me a lot of money.
So, enjoy your bowling any way you want.
If it is just for fun, fine - have fun.
If you want to play for Australia - go for it.
If your dream is to play in the PBA - set your goals and do your best.

Most of all - enjoy yourself.

Im a bit the same as jen im adicted. i love teh sport teh felling u get when u bowl really good. and when u do real good in a tornament. and yes how quickly bored do u get of red alert or a game liek that. i would liek to become a pro. and also represent australia. but wat and instresting topic this will be. hope everyone bwols good in teh near future.

apart from uni, bowling means everything to me. ive given up wat could of been a promising cricket career to focus on my bowling. the people in the sport are great and very good to talk to and a hav a laugh.

havin the oppurtunity to represent my country and see the some of the better bowlers of my age has made me hungry for more competitive bowling.

until rescently i was undecided on how far i wanted to go with the sport but thanks to a few good words from my folks and some bowlers i want to be the best bowler i can be. ive trained harder than ever.

i want to now see how far i can get in the sport. as for a future in the sport...well lets wait and see coz i want one

cheers

IM ONLY A BEGINNER AT BOWLING, IM DOING MY SECOND SEASON NOW... AND IM LOVING IT!!! IM NOT AS GREAT AS EVERYONE ELSE IN MY LEAGUE, BUT EACH TIME I BOWL ITS A CHALLENGE FOR ME TO BEAT MY PB. ITS SOMETHING EXCITING TO STRIVE FOR AND LOOK FORWARD TO.
I ALSO GET TO SEE MY FREINDS AND SPEND TIME WITH THEM AS WELL.
SURE IT COST MONEY, AND IM A BEGINNER AT 21YRS SO THERES ALOT OF WORK TO BE DONE IF IM GOING ANYWHERE WITH IT. AT THE MOMENT I DONT BELIVE I AM GOING ANYWHERE BUT ITS SO MUCH FUN!!!
DO PEOPLE PLAY BASKETBALL EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THEY WONT BE GOING ALONG TO THE NEXT OLYMPICS?? OF COURSE THEY DO!! THEY DO IT BECAUSE THEY LOVE IT. IF YOU WANT TO BOWL BECAUSE ITS FUN, THEN GREAT, BUT IF YOUR SERIOUS ENOUGH TO BOWL AT A PROFESSIONAL LEVEL, THEN GO FOR IT. WHATS TO STOP YOU? EITHER WAY, DONT DO IT IF YOU ARNT HAVING FUN, AND DONT STOP IF YOU ARE BECAUSE YOU THINK THERES NO FUTURE IN IT. JUST THINK OF ALL THE FUN YOU WILL BE MISSING OUT ON

Money isn't the be-all-and-end-all.
Money ruins a lot of things.
If I wanted to make heaps of cash, I could be the 34265252547346537545426th best golfer in the world and make more than I do at bowling - but what's the point if you don't have any passion for it.
I just wish it was a cheaper sport for the younger people to get seriously involved in, because once the fun and games of Juniors are over they tend to quit and do other things because: a) they can't afford to keep doing it, and/or: b) they won't have the parental financial support to keep them involved at reasonable cost.

These things ought to be looked at ASAP.

I dont bowl anymore , i was boerd really , same thing over and over .. i play other sports but know im more into gaming.. some ppl get over 10k a month just to play games... alot better then bowling

Sounds Matti like you made the right decision.
If your heart's not in it, there aint much point of going through the motions and chucking 'em down there.
I've known quite a lot of bowlers who've gone through the same thing, they bowl, bowl, bowl and get sick of it. I know I did.
Obviously at the moment, gaming's your passion - who knows, maybe 5-10 years down the track you might become interested - better to quit now and follow something you are interested in rather than than sticking with it and hating it forever.

I know I gave up tournaments for over 6 years to help out at the Football Club - only bowling once a week.
I came back to bowling tournaments again because I missed it, and the Club wasn't the same anymore after nearly thirty years I'd followed it. But who knows, the good people might come back to the Club, and I might get sick of tournaments again.

I,ve been bowling for 40years, I have loved every minute of it and still do. Sure it is nice to represent Australia or your State but thats not what the game is about. I can't believe people like Matti who think the sport owes them a living. All my best memories and times all happened OFF the lanes with mates. Start thinking about what YOU can give back to the game we all love. Remember "Memories live longer than dreams" go out do it and enjoy it . Because one day you will wish you had.

Matti...
The way that last post reads is that money buys happiness.....
Do u really believe that....
DaN....

And if your gunna say something....perhaps you should think about how you can justify what your saying before you say it! I mean, what sought of response do u realli expect? This site has been developed for the poeple who devote part of their lives to bowling...would we be here, posting, if we didnt realli enjoy this sport we love?
DaN

Im saying , what kinda future do you get from it , not how much u love it! random READ! kthnx

Which goes straight back to what belly said....
Bowling is a sport! Bowling does not owe people a living....
We bowl cos we love it, not cos we need our future to depend on our ability in the sport....
read ur post.... love = making us buy $
i dont think u fully understand what your saying man....

You dont win much money really at a younger age of bowling , i see no point pay so much for s trophey , people go to bowl to socialise really
