Can anyone tell me why are 3 consecutive strikes called a turkey?

In days of old, many many years ago, if you got three strikes in a row you won a Turkey.
And as for a 2 bager being called a Cockatoo, I suppose you could call it anything. I think it's just called a double though.

Gobble Gobble Gobble, yeah i think they do. could be a question you might wanna ask some1 who has been in bowling for decades like a person around 50-70 who been bowling for 20-30yrs
